I've replaced the original Focus Screens in my Camera's with the EF-D Focus Screen. I find it very useful in composition. You will need to be careful when replacing it, but it is easy to do. There is also a video showing the procedure on YouTube, to see if it is something your comfortable doing yourself. The new screen comes with a special tool you will need to do the replacement.

I'm pretty sure Nikon includes grid overlays in their cameras; wish I didn't have to add this on to my Canon. But being able to add this to a 50D is what made me choose the 50D over the newer 60D (in addition to a few other things they left off the 60D). Easy to install and does what it should.

Bought this as replacement for the standard focusing screen that come with the camera. It really helps to compose a shot and to keep the horizon straight on landscape shots. Although it's a bit pricey and I think it should be included in the package when you buy new camera as complimentary accessory.

I was getting lots of wonky horizons with my new 60D so decided to invest in the focus screen grid. It was easy to install after watching the useful video on Canon's website and now, not only are my horizons better but also I find the grid is really helpful for composing any shot.

No cons - only a bit pricey - but it adds enhanced functionality to the 40D- easier to line up straight shots, and compose landscape shots.

This is a great, cheap investment to add to your camera. You will be able to get your shots level now on the first shot and not have to worry about post processing for leveling. It is easy to install. I heard a lot of horror stories and in fact it was quite simple. It took a total of about 5 minutes including reading the instructions to complete. Well worth the money in my opinion. I was even trying to see if they made one for my dads Rebel XT. the grid lines are a little overwhelming at first, I was used to the standard viewfinder. After shooting some I asked myself why I waited so long to purchase this.

I love the guide lines...It was very easy to change yourself. I lost the tool and used regular tweezers with the tips wrapped in a small piece of elec. tape. You lift the little clip and the focus screen in its holder pops out in an angle for you grab it and replace. WAY TO EASY !!!

This is a most effective way of focusing, and lining up your shot. In the few days since I had my new screen installed, my shots are more dynamic. They say you can install it yourself, I'm not so sure about this statement. Unless you are fully confident in your ability to do close in work, I suggest you take the "Special Tool" included and go to your local camera store. It cost me $5.00 to make the switch. It was the best $5.00 I've spent in a long while.
