So disappointing - had not used the camera for a while. Charged the battery, but does not power up at all. Nothing. Zip. So forget about making memories for my upcoming trip. Never will buy a Canon product again. Similar problem on my printer.

This is an excellent pocket camera, with a lot of adjustable functions. Yet, one feature I liked from the previous versions of Canon - "date stamp" is missing in the G type camera. I tried to write to the customer service and got confirmation that this function isn't available in this model, though I am not sure why. Why not let our users choose it on or not? I take a lot of photos on the trip, and without this key feature, I have to trouble to check each photo's property for dates. So I don't like this camera that much. Regret. A very small function missed makes this whole camera not that attractive to me, frankly. Hope Canon can let us users decide, not to deprive us of this option. Or at least provide a firmware upgrade to add this Date Stamp back. Thanks.

I don't always want to take my bulky DSLR gear with me everywhere, so I've been looking for a smaller "point & shoot" camera for quite some time (iPhone photos just aren't good enough haha). I've only had this for a few weeks, but so far I am incredibly happy with my purchase! I can't wait to take it on vacations, and not have to carry my DSLR around (or worry about it getting damaged in travel). This little camera fits right in my purse, and is so lightweight I barely know its there. It has all of the main functions that I like to use with my DSLR. The touchscreen can be a little tricky to use sometimes, and it seems like it takes several steps to perform certain functions (deleting a photo, reviewing images taken in continuous shooting mode, etc). Minor annoyances, but I think once I get used to it, it'll become quicker & easier. Overall, I'm happy with it so far.

This camera does nearly everything my Canon Rebel does and is far more compact and portable. It shoots in RAW and JPEG mode with incredible clarity. I wanted something I could travel more easily with but not sacrifice picture quality and the Canon Powershot G9X is it! Plus, I got this camera at an amazing price bundled with software, and and SD Card. Love it!

This camera is a great gift for someone who thinks they are a pro but in reality they are not (like myself). It captures very sharp pictures and is not hard to use BUT you need some basic knowledge

Don't let its small size fool you! This camera packs a huge punch. I love everything about it.

Great camera, small enough to carry in your pocket and takes great pictures and video. Had a bad review on battery life, but I have used it many times over the last week and still have not recharged.

For the size of the camera and of the sensor, this makes a great hiking / backpacking camera. I purchased it for my wife to replace her s110, and am impressed with the low light capabilities of this camera. I tested it with a night tent shot on Mt Hood and was happy with the results considering that it is a point and shoot camera. Purchased two extra batteries for extended backpack trips.

I was looking for a small point and shoot that can take good night time photos and I found it. The g9x fits the bill.

I had a problem with not receiving all of the peripherals that were advertised with the package (tripod, memory card, camera case, etc.). They finally arrived two weeks later after I called and complained. The camera is great. I love how light weigh it is. It takes lovely pictures.

I got this camera a few months ago and I have never dropped it, take really good care of it, and carry it in a case. The lens shutters to protect the lens broke off, the battery clip to hold in the battery broke off, and the lens constantly jams. Horrible camera.

Love the look of this camera with the silver/fake leather, and for a camera so small, it takes great photos. Love the aspect ratio of the photos. I am still getting used to the camera and keep pushing the wrong button to take a photo...kinda wish that the shutter was on the end. Also, not much of a zoom on this little camera but for the size, can't really complain.

I did my homework in checking for the best compact travel camera. I ending up choosing the Canon PS GX9. It had constistantly good reviews about size, resolution, manual and auto features and the cost was not over the top. I am so impressed with the ease of ordering this camera and the questions I had were handle by the best customer service I have experienced in years. They even sent me after my purchase the "free accessories" that I was hesitant to combine with the original purchase because all other web sites were adding additional charges to the camera for theses accessories. I would highly recommend ordering any products from Adorama .com. Looking forward to my trip to Instanbul and the beautiful island in Greece. I am sure this camera is going to give me just spectacular pictures to come home with.

What super camera in such a small package. It has the 1 in sensor for striking quality low light shots, and the HDR for difficult indoor shooting, while it fits in any size pocket. I also like that it is rather wide angle for it's size. Also, the controls are much easier to use than the Sony RX-100 that competes with it. i'd buy it again in an instant!

This g9 fits nicely in my pocket which is why I bought it. Along with the 1 inch sensor and 20 MP it is packed with features. The touch screen is faster than pressing buttons and I have large fingers.

I love the camera, the touch screen and the size, however, returned it as the zoom was not enough for what we need. We are going to order the Panasonic ZS100 because of it longer zoom.

The camera is quite good given the compromises needed for the size. The iOS app is problematic - you can't set up an automatic download, nor can you delete pictures. Thus, one can end up with trying to manage the bank of images in the camera instead of off loading and managing it from the phone. The software was pretty useless to me in the bundle, but the tripod and SD card were very good.

As someone that simply enjoyed photography and the Nikon experience for the past 40 years a Canon point and shoot was to be a totally new adventure. My first reaction was disappointment- no Raw in auto. I had to consult the manual and found that RAW was available in aperture values (AV mode) and program (P mode). I now find this little G 9X is really capable of producing wonderful photos with little thought on my part. Perfect for those times when you simply want to point and shoot. I would give this little Canon 5 stars for price, quality and capability.

maybe g7x and the sony rx100 is better - but this one is pretty good, but also sleek and small and fits in the tux or jacket.

The Canon camera I bought was recommended to me by a friend, as was buying it from Adorama. I was a little bit concerned about the ordering from a company in New York when I live in California, but I was pleasantly surprised. I contacted the customer service representative at Adorama and they were able to answer all of my questions and concerns regarding shipping of a camera across the country and so close to Christmas. What a pleasant experience it has been shopping at Adorama.

Gave it a 4 star because it could use a rotating LCD screen, but great for throwing into your purse or pocket for quick shots.

Nice 1 inch sensor camera. Quite capable for size. Build quality can't be compared to the Sony rx100 Mark series which is just fabulous despite the mark 1 being cheaper than this. Advantages - touch screen, simple to use, connects to phone.

A great value for an outstanding camera!
By Fairmont
Fantastic camera with all the functions of a DSLR but photo quality that dramatically exceeds a smart phone. This camera is a winner. It can shoot in RAW, which gives a lot of latitude for correcting noise, color, shadows, highlights and more. Remember to get (for free) the most updated version of DPP from Canon. You will downloaded it and enter the serial number of your new camera in order to get access. Both my previous version of DPP and and Lightroom couldn't read the RAW files of the G9x...

I'm very happy with it!
By GJoyce
The image quality of this camera is amazing considering how small it is. It is so easy to keep with me and it is a pleasure to use. I have a DSLR, but I can already tell that most of my future photographs will be taken with this camera. The zoom is only 3X, but that is expected considering the camera size. Overall, I am very pleased with the features, the very small size, and especially the image quality. It even takes great photos in low light. Great quality product and I'm amazed at the tec...

High Detail, Even in Low Light
1.0-inch, 20.2 Megapixel* High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor
At 1.0 inch, the image sensor on the PowerShot G9 X camera is larger than the ones on most other compact cameras. This allows it to capture a greater range of light, so bright areas of the image, like clouds on a sunny day, can be more detailed and less likely to be washed or blown out. With low-light scenes, like when you're indoors or outside at night, an ISO range of 125-12800 lets you use fast shutter speeds to help keep photos sharp and virtually unaffected by camera shake. The 20.2 Megapixel* resolution is outstandingly high, giving you the option of printing out bigger photos or cropping in to highlight the best part.
Clear Photos in Almost Every Light
3x, f/2.0-4.9 Optical Zoom Lens (28-84mm) The PowerShot G9 X camera has an impressive zoom lens with a remarkable optical zoom range, helping you capture wide shots like a big party scene or a gorgeous canyon, or enabling you to zoom in and get a wonderful close-up. The fast aperture goes as low as f/2.0, meaning it's possible to see the subject and take clear photos in low light, often without a flash. Combined with Intelligent IS image stabilization, it helps to ensure virtually shake-free images, even in dark rooms or outside at night.
Slim and Stylish
At only 7.37 ounces (209g), the PowerShot G9 X is a compact camera that's not much bigger than a deck of cards, and can easily fit into a pocket or purse. Despite its size, it packs a large, high-quality image sensor and fast f/2.0 lens. These work together with features such as the DIGIC 6 processor to help create high quality photos, even in low light. This means you can have a camera within easy reach that's able to deliver detailed images that show the texture of clothing fabric, the colors of a sunset or the moment a player kicks a ball at the goal.
Intuitive User Interface
The 3.0-inch touch panel is designed to take advantage of both hands while holding the camera so you can make adjustments while still being ready to snap a photo. The menus are customizable, meaning the settings you adjust frequently are easily accessible. You're also able to swipe quickly through photos you've taken, and tap the screen to easily adjust picture options and change what the camera is focusing on. In addition, the control ring around the lens can be rotated with your fingers to make adjustments to various settings, simplifying the process even further.
Intuitive Controls
Control Ring and Touch Panel Quick, simple adjustments are ideal when you're trying to capture the great moments in life. The PowerShot G9 X camera uses a combination of a responsive, 3.0-inch touchscreen and a smoothly rotating control ring around the lens. Your right thumb can pick the setting you'd like to change, and then your left fingers can rotate the control ring to adjust it, all without lowering the camera or taking your finger off the shutter. For example, if you're trying to capture a dog playing in the sun, you can quickly adjust the shutter speed with a tap of the menu and a twist of the control ring to get the amount of detail you desire, while keeping a bit of blur to show action.
