For better or worse, I use my photo printers for docs as well as for printing photos on good photo paper. So far, text-intensive docs and flyers print pretty darn fast, and blacks are nice. Jury hasn't gone out yet, less returned a verdict, on photos - I'll follow up. Like others, I did not find the wireless setup helpful. I got frustrated and connected the printer with a USB cable. Seems Canon makes it (and the companion software) more complicated than it needs be.
I use a lot of Canon products, cameras and printers. This printer does a good job with photographs, although printer is loud and makes a lot of clunking noises when printing, takes some getting used to so you know nothing is broken. All my recent Canon purchases have trouble installing on Windows 8, very frustrating and haven't figured out how to make it work, so have to install on my windows 7 computer. At this point I would buy this printer again unless I found a better option for the same price.
