Excellent Long Lasting Battery

I have purchased one of these batteries for my Canon 850 before and it has lasted a number of years. I have also purchased a 'third-party' battery about half the price, but it did not last as long. I will purchased Canon Batteries for my camera from this time forth. Adorama's prompt service was excellent!!!

batteries are not alike

I don't know why Canon changed from NB 5L to the NB 6L. The NB 6L will not fit in my wife's S 90 and the NB 5L will not fit in my S 100. It is virtually the same camera, and they are the best point and shoot cameras available, yet they changed the battery and are not compatible.

Worth the additional cost

These batteries charge quickly and last through many shots. I wish Canon would find a way to let you know when they are reaching the end of their life, however, as there is currently no way to know until they just quit one day. They are especially useful while traveling internationally, as they charge easily regardless of the voltage of the electricity.

I've tried off brands, and they never hold a charge or last as long as the original equipment.

Questions about this item:

Carl B  Can you use the Canon NB-5L battery in the Power Shot S 120?
N.C. M  i DON'T KNOW. My camera is a Power Shot SD990 IS digital Elph. And the extra battery I purchased Canon NB 5L following the brochure that came with the camera works well.
Shopper  is it 1120mAh or 1150 ?
MICHAEL C  1120mAh.
Shopper  Is this an OEM Canon battery? Do you also have OEM batteries for a Canon PowerShot A495 camera?
DR. MARK R  Hi, I own a number of digital cameras, from point and shoot to DSLR both Canon and Nikon, and sometime ago I decided to stick to OEM batteries. One of the coolpix was having some mechanical issues and took it in NY to a Nikon service center. They swapped the off-brand battery for an OEM and the problem went away. I was watching at the service counter when they did it. The tech told me that some off-brand were ok, just as some OEM had problems. Statistically it leans in favor of OEM being more relaible... Since nor Canon nor Nikon make their own batteries, you wonder way. But then again, a similar idea applies to third party lenses. The quality of the glass has more variability, although it was probably more an issue decades ago.
