It is always a good idea to have a back-up battery available.
Shopper : are this battery better than orginal for Powershot SD4500IS Digital Camera ? the orginal is not the best Canon has created. or do the camrra take too mush power ?MICHAEL S : I have found no differences in the batteries. The one bought online is identical to the one that came with the camera. Both have worked well since 2010.CHARLES M : As far as I know, this is exactly the same as the original battery that comes with the camera. They perform the same. My belief is that both batteries are extremely good. When you shoot 720P or 1080P video, the camera uses an enormous amount of power. I used mine in Europe for a 2 week trip, and I didn't run out of battery the whole time. Sometimes the battery light will blink especially when shooting movies, but it will last for quite a long time after it starts to blink. Hope this helps.JAMIE H : The SD4500IS is indeed a power hungry camera. I have found this battery to be comparable to the one supplied by Canon with the new camera. It is not better but it works fine for me. Since the price is right (2 years ago Canon wanted $50, I found them for less than $10 recently) I now have 5 of them and never run out of power.STEPHEN M : No, the battery is not better. In fact, it is the same Cannon branded battery that comes with the camera. I purchased the 2nd battery to bring along when taking many photos that might deplete the 1st battery.

I only buy the long lasting Canon battery and not any after market battery. I tried those before and they don't stand up to the Canon.
