Fantastic Image Quality and Price

Desiring to have more control over larger prints, while retaining small print capability, I've had my eye on this printer since it was first released. My experience has only included multifunction printers that favored high quality photo printing, which always ended in frustration, so I researched dedicated photo printers of the highest consumer quality vs price, and came up with this one and an Epson. Though I can't comment on the Epson, the Pro 100 is absolutely fantastic. It arrived extremely quickly, and though the box was beat up a little, everything was safe and sound. Setup is shockingly easy, and every aspect of materials and design gave an overwhelming sense of quality(and esp compared to any MFP). The printer is fairly heavy and large, if you're used to consumer/MFP, but does not seem unnecessarily so, and Canon seems to have done a great with efficiency of space. Set up took maybe 30 minutes, most of the was due to being very careful when unboxing/unwrapping and placement, and then it took a few minutes to find the newest drivers and flash/update the printer itself, but it was all very straightforward and intuitive. After printing an alignment sheet, I simply loaded the feed slot with a single sheet of the 13x19" paper that came 'free' with the rebate promotion, headed to the living room where my retina Macbook Pro is, found the printer, opened Lightroom 4, and found an image to 'test'. I chose an image of a rose that we had growing in planters on the back patio- it's a really beautiful image (on the screen- I give most credit to my Fuji X camera + lens..) that also tends to render not quite accurately in either color or tonality, esp the background areas that are darkest, as they present gradation challenges that usually (always) result in either mushy transition from darkest to lightest, color irregularities, and/or missing levels of greyscale , all due to the various black ink tones, printhead shortcomings, and processing capacity of lesser equipped MFP's. The result is what wraps up this review in 5 enthusiastic stars: an exquisite rendering of the rose including all discernible (to my eye) gradations in black/grey, no mottling or strange color compensation in the dark/black areas, extremely fine detail throughout, no mushiness, no unexpected handling of bright or dark areas whatsoever. It simply, easily, and literally the first time I'd used it, produced a seemingly perfect rendition of the beautiful image that was on my screen. I was fully prepared to be either slightly impressed or disappointed, in contrast to the printers I'd been using, and was fully willing to work with it's quirks if it managed to produce images that were say, much better in greyscale but perhaps similar to enthusiast MFP that were good at the photo end. Instead, I was (and this is no hyperbole) stunned by the beauty and quality of the photo. I've since printed various other images, no longer to test it but rather to replace some 10x14 frames we have around the house, and we've both been nothing but amazed at the results. It's pertinent to note that those hung photos that we'd had done professionally at a highly capable local print/camera store here in Austin, TX, and the Canon's results were both more color accurate (the photos replaced all had a slight color tint to them that is not present in the original files) and sharper than what they produced. Needless to say, I highly recommend this printer to anyone who is looking for a significant step up from any photo-first MFP and/or anyone who has a moderately capable skills developing digital images and desires more control over the final print output. Well done Canon, and fantastic deal and shipping from Adorama!

Despite the otherwise good reviews on this printer I received two bad ones. The first I sent back because the print head would not go in the carriage without breaking the locking lever that holds it in place. The second one is now giving me an "out of paper" error despite having paper in the printer so I can't even align the print heads, let alone print anything. The software setup took an overly long time to install. This is printer, not an operating system! There is a Canon service facility...View full Review
There is a Canon service facility not too far to drive to so I'll take it there tomorrow. I bought it because of the good reviews and the fact that a lightning surge took out my old reliable HP printer. The hefty rebate program persuaded me to buy it. By now I'm sorry I ever heard of the thing.

I replaced my 10 year old Canon i9900 wit the Pixma Pro-100 and I couldn't be more happy! The network interface is a fantastic addition. The printer is quite a bit larger tho. I also like the CD tray so you can print discs and the tray stores under the printer in a special slot, so you don't lose it. I am very happy with my new printer and I would definitely recommend this.
This is my first experience with a Canon printer and I'm very pleased. Until now I have always use Epson printers but was not satisfied with the involved process of manually cleaning clogged print heads. The Canon print head is easily removable for cleaning if it ever becomes necessary. The print quality is very good and the included software is quite comprehensive.
I purchased this printer as part of a "kit" with the Canon 6D. I wasn't looking for a printer, but bundled with the camera it was a no-brainer! I do not have much experience printing, so after setting it up, I called a friend who has the same printer. We tested a couple shots and eventually printed an 11x14 on the 13x19 paper it came with. The results were very impressive, even with an un-calibrated monitor. Would definitely recommend it.
We got this printer to replace a seven year old Canon Pixma 6000-D & have been impressed. Though I miss the auto-duplex of the Pixma, that is all. The print quality is fantastic, whether its graphics on plain paper or pictures on photo paper. WOW - this is a serious printer & the pricing was great. Balanced tones and vivid colors with great paper handling make this a dream printer for a home user and photo enthusiast. Word of caution - it's HUGE!! I'm glad I cleared a space for it, though.
This is an unbeatable deal, for a great printer.
I use this products to produce amateur photo prints.
This is a fantastic photo printer and the quality of prints on photo paper is unrivaled for a home use printer. Overall it is easy to setup and manage software wise. I have it connected via wired Ethernet to my network and the device installation process took only about 10 minutes from the time I put the printer on the table to the time I had the software installed and made a test print. The only negatives I have found so far are the size/weight of this device and the paper feed mechanism. The unit itself weighs nearly 55 pounds so it is massive and it requires something substantial to sit on. It is also very large in terms of dimensions and it requires nearly nearly a 3' x 3' space to be setup in. If you want a printer that will give you the best photo quality out there this is it. Just be ready to make room for it in your home/office.
I use this printer for personal use. It's a great printer for photo printing and that's all I use it for.
I have had Epson photo printers for years and thought I would never change but I think Canon has surpassed Epson. This Canon printer totally Rocks! For color match 5 star Ease of use 5 star Canon built in printing software for Photoshop 5 star Better than Epson r2000 5 star Large variety of papers 5 star Print quality 5 star
Printer was easy to setup and install. The output is amazing. The rebate made this printer a no brainer. As soon as I saw the deal I jumped on it. Other than its weight, I love this printer
