First of all I was verry satisfied about the price, I found the best offer on Adorama. In general this camera is one of the best product on the market, I was realy impressed when I used it in Low Light Condition, it makes incredible pictures even at hi-ISO and records incredible HD 720p video. The build quality is also impresive it gives trust. The only one limited thing is the zoom only 3.8x Optical zoom. But if you like just to make good pictures and amazing video quality this one is the right choice !

The ratings for this Canon SD4000 praised simple point and shoot qualities in low light conditions using the automatic mode. The camera was purchased at the last minute before attending a wedding so minimal time was spent reading and using written documentation. After reviewing the shots taken at this event, plus the pictures taken from my years old Canon SD800is I am reminded of how good the older Canon cameras are and what a poor choice this new Canon is. I will now take the needed time to review and hopefully set up this new camera to improve picture quality but I can safely say this is NOT a pick up and shoot indoor camera.

A great choice! This camera performs just below a DSLR and has a fast lens. Has many advanced features but is a snap to use.

I liked it while it worked. Great little camera! Developed a focusing problem after just three month. All photos are focused about one third the distance they should be focused on (3 meters instead of 9 meters for example), which makes for out-of focus pictures when wide apertures are selected. Tried various focus settings, narrowing down focus points to only the middles of the screen - the problem persisted. Most noticeable at wide lens settings, less with telephoto. I am sending it in for servicing.

This camera is a joy to use, the fast, sharp F2.0 lens and consistently accurate exposure metering make for excellent photos. The video quality is also excellent, with no visible rolling shutter artifact as is often seen in CMOS based cameras. It feels very solid in hand and the newer conrol layout actually works better than previous ELPHs. As with any camera, take time to fiddle with the settings a bit before doing any serious photography. A spare battery is also a wise investment for any camera and a good fast card will also improve battery life.
