Replacing the focusing screen was easy and feels like the camera, now 10 years old, focus is as sharp as day one. I did not expect the results to be as dramatic as they have been.

This thing is amazing! It more accurately dispays depth of field for fast lenses and increases manual focus accuracy. I shoot with the 85 f/1.2, 35 f/1.4, and the 180 macro, and this screen helps a ton.

I got this to use specifically with my 85 f/1.2. It allows for very accurate manual focus and a much more accurate DOF preview.

Bought this to improve focus ability with 85/1.2L lens. Wide open there is no tolerance for focus error and the stock 1D screen does not cut it. With this screen the ability to see Bokeh with DOF preview and to focus accurately are dramatically improved. The downside is that the viewfinder is noticeably darker with 2.8 aperture lenses and very dark beyond that. Would not work at all for consumer grade glass with aperture 5.6 etc.

The Canon Ec-S Focusing Screen with Canon's exclusive Super Precision Matte technology makes it easy for professional photographers to determine the precise point of sharpest focus during manual focusing. This is because the microlens on the screen's matte is optimally shaped to increase defocusing near the point of focus.
