Works perfectly. Comes with tool for instillation and instructions were pretty straight forward. I bought this for my Canon 5D (Classic)

It is so useful when trying to make sure the scene in the viewfinder is level. It also saves time in PS, you don't have to rotate and crop the picture! The viewfinder seems a little brighter to me. There is a custom function for this screen, so there must be a difference. It is also not annoying in the viewfinder subtle but noticeable. Just do it!

I reccommend this to everyone! Of course, I sold my 5Dc a few weeks after I bought this. I need one for my 5DmkII!

I purchased the screen to aid in aligning horizontal and vertical lines in my photos. The subtle lines on the screen fit the bill. As others have said, they are very fine lines and sometimes difficult to see. They don't clutter the viewfinder and the autofocus points still light up.

Bought this one with the grid b/c Adorama was out of the non-grid version...and I'm happy I did. The grid lines are very subtle so as not to be distracting, but still useful when you want to level off your shot. Manual focus is where I needed this product to perform, and it does. Makes manual focusing a good bit easier (although not as good as the old split-prism style). Light loss after f4 as warned has been a non-issue for me. I rarely use my DOF preview so it just doesn't affect me. I'm using this on a 5D II, which I'm not sure your supposed to do. The metering behavior of the camera has changed a bit and is a little less reliable now, but not significantly different.

I love it. It is a very useful tool to aid you in your composition. Easy to install. It should be a standard feature.

If you want your lines to be straight a grid focus screen is indispensable. I have one on each of my cameras. The screen for the 5D is just as easy to install as it is on their other bodies. Cant go wrong.

Used a similar one on 40D, loves it. This one 5D works the same. Great help to me when shooting big landscape, seascape, cityscape, etc. Wish it had the little circle in the middle for manual focusing. Maybe that is asking too much? Don't know if any 3rd party has it...[...]

This product is a great aid in leveling as well as composition. I had it with my EOS-3 camera and was accustomed to using it. When I realized that the screen was available with the EOS-5D, I ordered one.

Makes it much easier to prevent distortion when shooting items with straight edges, such as buildings and art. The item itself is extremely fragile, so handle with care; the tools and method of install are a bit difficult, and a bit archaic. Don't try to change screens when you're in a hurry. The grids are very subtle and don't distract when using the viewfinder, so this one works fine to leave it installed for day-to-day shooting. You can also use the grids to balance compositions.

Not only is the grid screen a valuble tool for doing precision camera leveling; this kit has good instructions, a solid case, a removal/insertion tool, and even a place for both the grid screen and the screen you remove. You never have to touch or lay either screen on anything but the holders provided.

These are a must have for me. Great for composition and keeping horizons and other lines straight. Canon provides a nice little kit for this too, with the tool. Piece of cake to install.

It's clear and it really makes it easy to line up I love it and it's the best thing I've done to my 5d, the instructions are very easy to fallow and it only takes about 5 min. to install.

One of the reasons I bought the Canon EOS 5D camera, besides the full-frame sensor etc, was the option to swap out focusing screens. I like using a grid for most situations, as a visual aid in composition. The lines are not distracting, I haven't noticed any impact on metering (you do have to switch C-Fn 00), and now it's my standard screen. Even though I'm always a bit apprehensive about monkeying around with the delicate bits of an expensive camera, the installation was really easy and took less than 5 minutes. Good instructions, provided tool.

I though that dividing in thirds would have been easier with that grid but once I got the picture in the pc, I found out that it wasn't that precise! So, it only helps me to hold a straight horizon.

Makes it far easier to keep lines straight - I tend to tilt my camera and now horizons are straight without further manipulation.

The Canon Focusing Screen EE-D is an inexpensive addition that makes photo composition much easier. Don't bother with a bubble level to make sure your horizons are horizontal, and your verticals are straight. This screen is easy to install and makes squaring your images a snap.

Canon 5D grid screen
By garybob
The grid screen lets me know what's level when I'm not.
The Ee-D grid-type focusing screen maximizes viewfinder brightness and is optimized for use with f/5.6 EF lenses and slower. It provides a 3-line (horizontal) by 6-line (vertical) grid for easier composition and horizon alignment.
