I was so disappointed to discover that there is no back button focus on the T8i. If I had known, I would never have purchased this camera. It never crossed my mind that this feature would be deleted.

I bought this camera right after Christmas because it was on sale for my sister. I’ve used it a few times since then and have really enjoyed the camera. I think it would be a good camera for someone who is newer to DLSR photography. The battery life and the image quality are great. I like that the camera is a little more light weight than some of my others.

I’ve taken about 500 pictures in my first week of owning the camera and have been really happy with the quality for price paid.

I bought this a year ago, and love this camera SO MUCH. It is never slow, always has amazing quality photos, and I love using this with my EFS 18-55mm lens. Super easy to take anywhere, and the touch screen makes it super easy to use.

I bought this camera when it first came out. I used it very rarely. My friend borrowed it for one year. Then, 3 weeks ago my daughter and I went to Bali, Indonesia and I brought this camera. Whoa! I didn't know how good this camera is. It's just perfect the camera: the size, the quality of pictures and number of shooting options available. Just now, I upgraded it's firmware to 1.0.1 and I am eager to get out a shoot some more... I strongly recommend this camera.

My girlfriend surprised me at Christmas and gifted me this camera. She knew I was too frugal to buy one on my own. I guess she got tired of hearing me gripe about the mediocre pics I was taking with my phone and old Olympus digital. The Canon Rebel is a terrific camera. I was also suprised with a separate Canon 75-300 mm telephone lens which I use frequently, and often use it for fairly close-up shots. The camera features a seemingly infinite number of settings and options. I've committed seven or eight settings to memory, from frequent use. Admittedly, for many of the advanced settings and for rare configuration needs, I have to consult the manual. The photos are easy to download from the camera. I'm constantly being complimented for pics that I post. I can't wait until the leaves are out on the trees where I live so that I can start taking shots without the background being dominated by grays, whites and blacks!

I'm a professional photographer, but I don't always want to carry my backpack full of gear when I'm travelling. This camera is a really nice solution for personal travel trips. It's got some really nice features and is small enough to through in a small case. My wife has even used it as a backup camera for weddings.

This was my first DSLR. It is a great little camera. The hand grip is small, but the camera is so light that I never found it uncomfortable. I love how compact it is, because it makes it easy to take in anywhere.

Bought the camera for my son because he wants to get into filming. After extensive research, he found this camera to be one of the best cameras for filming and taking photos. He absolutely loves it.

I brought this camera 2 years ago and fall more in love with it each day. It is easy to shoot with, small enough to carry In all shooting settings, and has a huge selection of lens that can be used to shoot.

I've owned a T2i, aT5, and an SL1. The SL1 is my favorite due to its compactness. Easy to use, but has all the tools I need in terms of customization. A great buy!

I bought this camera package for each of my 2 children. They are 15 years old and had just taken an introductory photography class, so they each wanted a camera for Christmas. This seemed like a good basic package for a beginner to start with. When it arrived the quality of everything in the package lived up to my expectations. The camera and lenses worked well and all of the accessories worked well together. I am jealous and considering trading in my 10-year-old cannon digital camera and upgrading to this package. By the way, the kids could not have been more excited and pleased. Kudos to Adorama!

This is the perfect take along camera when you need speed and good handling. It works well with the EF-S 18-55 IS STM kit lens and the EF-S 55-250 IS STM telephoto lens. Don't let the the plastic build fool you into thinking those are Not good quality lenses. They are very good and perfect for this camera. Paired with the SL1 you have a very good take along kit because it's small, light and Fast! The EF-S 24mm STM and EF 40mm STM are also very small pancake lenses and work well with this camera. The video good too and the screen refresh rate is very fast. Not sure how many frames per second but doesn't flicker when panned. I know the specs rate the HD at 30 frames per second but the screen refresh may be faster. I know it's faster than my 60D, 70D and EOS M. Speaking of the EOS M, the SL1 uses the same battery. The primary reason I bought the SL1 was there were times my EOS M's autofocus couldn't get the shot due to the subject moving. When using the 55-250 lens with the EF to EF-M adapter, the M is clumsy to use. However I'm keeping my EOS M. It has it's place too. Image quality wise the SL1 is the same as the EOS M and 70D. Excellent! Maybe just very slightly better than the 60D, the SL1 being a little newer model. Auto focus using the viewfinder is quick and accurate. Using the screen in live view is pretty fast in general. There are options to grab focus from most of the screen (80% or you can touch a section of the screen to focus on. Almost as fast as my 70D's dual pixel AF. The touch screen is quick and responsive too. Touch shutter is nice to use when using a tripod. Works well with external Canon flashes.

I gave an SL1 to my daughter as a gift. She is a beginner so it will provide her with plenty of growing room as she learns. I have used a Rebel T2i for 6 years so I was pleased to find many aspects of the SL1 were more advanced than what is provided by my T2i. The SL1 body is very small and is not a good fit for any photographer with moderate to large hands. That is not a problem for my daughter. The shutter is quite quiet compared to what I am used to. The SL1 is not the be-all-and-end-all of DSLRs, nor is it intended to be, but the current pricing is great for what it provides to the beginning or hobbyist photographer.

I have always loved Canon, I owned a Powershot A620 when it was released in 2005, but soon failed on me in 2013. Then I recently upgraded my camera in 2015 w/ EOS Rebel SL1 & the quality is still high grade just like my older canon. The freatures & settings it has delivers AMAZING professional photo quality without even photo shopping it. It captures the beauty of nature in Hawaii so perfectly. : love this camera. Highly recommend buying this if this will be your first professional camera. Big Tip, read the instruction manual on each of the setting so you can capture great pictures. :)

Extremely lightweight, almost to a fault. Just doesn't have the feel of a serious SLR camera...I have had over 8 Canon SLR's over the years, and this is the first one that I don't feel was worth the price. If the end result is what counts, then I suppose it meets better than average standards, but construction wise I'm not sure how durable this model will be. Should have paid more and got a better current model.

Size and weight are the camera's best features. Picture quality, color, and sharpness are stellar, on par with canon's pro cameras (5d, 1d x, etc.). The only technical shortcoming is the camera's AF is not as advanced as the pro canon cameras; only has 9 AF points. However, the additional AF points and faster AF speed are only necessary for sports and wildlife. As an everyday, go everywhere, travel, family, portrait camera, I'd rather carry less weight and bulk offered by the SL1.

The product came like it was brand new. It did come in a box that wasn't meant for my camera like the box had a name of a different camera so that was weird. The camera was well packaged and kept safe though. The camera works great. Love the touch screen and love all the features. Its a a great buy for great price! I have a powershot IS400 which has a 35 optical zovom and 16 mega pixels. It was a good camera but this blows it away. The pictures come out so clear and great low light pictures. The one thing I miss is a further zoom but am going to get a 75-300m Lens. Once I get that my powershot will barely see use. I like that the camera body is compact and you still get such great shots. This near a profesional level camera. The price is unbelievable. You are getting this product for such a steal.

I have an older 1D, a refurbished 5D, a brand new 7D, a Canon 2000, and a couple of others from days gone by. (I go all the way back to the original Rebel, littering my family with older 40's and 50's... What I pack in my field kit is the SL1... and a SPARE SL1 body. This camera is quick, it is easy, it does the job. Less frills and bells and whistles than the heavier (much heavier) pro versions, but then I'm not out there to SHOOT something for publication every day, which doesn't mean I don't stumble across something I just have to shoot. When I do -- out comes the SL1.... If I'm not taking a grip, gaffer, lighting truck, and if I'm not calculating depth of field, precision exposures, and precise resolution then I have NO NEED of one of my (HEAVIER!) cameras. This camera excels in anything you aren't shooting for publication, and CAN be used for publication in a pinch. It's terrific for planning, for testing, for conceptualizing, for storyboarding, for precision angles, for ANYTHING that doesn't require the full field team. It CAN be used to shoot video, it CAN be used for publication. it's 99 percent of the pro systems and if that 1 percent isn't important then it's perfect for everything. Shooting pictures for the college class handouts I do (for photography and video classes)... Check! Shooting conceptualization shots... CHECK! Shooting test shots for lighting angles and intensities... CHECK! And people it is LIGHT!!!! as in NOT HEAVY. I add it to my L- lenses and it's like looking at a frog that's grabbed a 747 with it's tongue! (I typically set one up with at least one of the L lenses on a tripod -- just in case situation.) It would be ridiculous if it didn't work. It can pack INSIDE your suitcase. Add this to a Tamron 18-200 mm Di III lens and you have a FULL KIT IN ABOUT THREE POUNDS! On a professional note it's like carrying a backup revolver in combat. You will never need it until you need it badly and then it's going to do JUST what it's designed to do and it is NOT GOING TO FAIL YOU! Rough, tough, stable, inexpensive, and the batteries last FOR HOURS!!!!

The only snag on the SL1 is that it goes through batteries rather fast so I have two spare batteries.

I am an amateur photographer and have been taking photos as long as I can remember. I bought this camera back in 2013 around the time when it just came out. I can not say enough how wonderful this camera is and how much it has exceeded my expectations. It works in every way that I've wanted it to from slowing down the shutter speed to take lighting pictures to taking clear quality photos at sporting events. It still continues to amaze me how wonderful the pictures turn out. With having smaller hands, being lightweight and smaller in size compared to other DSLR's is perfect and it doesn't make me feel that I don't have complete control of the camera. Perfect in every way and it will not disappoint!

I purchased this in Dec of 2015 and I didn't know it at the time but it was defective. Whenever I would hold my finger down to take many pictures at a time it would start out taking them fast and then get slower and slower and then to the point I would have to stop taking the pictures. I'm sending it in for repair and hope that will help. This is a nice camera but I don't know if I will ever master it. I have been taking pictures for over 40 years with all types of point and shoot cameras but this camera I can take pictures, with the same setting, and one will turn out good and the other one is terrible. I don't know what the problem is. I have researched the settings for different types of pictures and I still can't master it. I would recommend this camera to someone that wants to spend ALL their time trying to master it.

This product is truly a great piece of technology. I recently purchased this item and it is quite astonishing. The different settings in each mode and the effectiveness of said modes are quite amazing. I would heavily recommend this camera.

Exactly what I was looking for
By Liz
I recently recieved my Canon Rebel SL1 and I couldn't be happier! I was previously shooting with a Rebel t2i and was looking for a newer one to bring with me to college. I was immediatly drawn to the small size but was warry of the quality that might have been skipped out on as well. When I went to try it out at my local camera shop I was plesently surprised to learn that despite being much smaller, it still feels solid in my hands. I was also thrilled to see that the specs were identical if ...

Great camera!

I recently picked up a refurb'd Rebel SL1 on a recent sale and it has been an excellent camera. It arrived in very good packaging and looks brand new. Even my wife was impressed on the condition of the camera and lens. I have been snapping away with it and the pictures are amazing while the size of the camera is small enough to hang off to my side and not be a bother. I'm really glad I picked it up and plan on purchasing refurb's lenses in the future.
