Questions & Answers

d t : Does the camera has a slide attachment to convert slides to digital prints?LARRY C : No it does not.THOMAS L : No. But you can buy slide duplicators that can be used with a camera to photograph slides. Or you can buy a set of extension tubes and use the kit lens to photograph slides. The extension tubes can also be used for very close up macro photography. If you have a lot of slides to convert to digital images I'd suggest a dedicated slide duplicator. It doesn't require the use of your camera but attaches directly to your computer. That saves a lot of steps. TomL
Jason B : CAn this t3i shoot 60 fps in 720 p ?RANDY L : Try the Adorama chat line to get the answer for this: my 70D manual doesn't list a comparable FPS number.
Shopper : How is the speed of the memory card ? Is this better than Sandisk Ultra 16gb ? And how is the bag ?GARY M : I've the Sandisk 16gb and PNY 8gb in the camera. Both disks keep up with the speed of the camera. I spent a season taking high res low light pictures with the 16gb card at High School football games and was capturing thousands of shots which were as good as the professional photographers (with the exception of the lens packages). All said, lens envy aside, I can't see any difference between cards or cameras except for the nut behind the equipment.........MARTIN K : I like the bag. Upgraded the drive. Love the camera but the tell lens is a bit slow to focus on really quick nature shots.

Perfect

Amazing camera with so much potential. I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about getting into photography. I do a lot of rock climbing photography and product photography. The lens that comes with the camera isn't to bad but I would also recommend a 24mm prime lens and a 50mm prime lens.

Great camera for the money!

This is the perfect camera for the mid range photographer: the one who loves to take photographs vs pictures, but doesn't want to spend the big bucks for a full frame camera. It allows the versatility of the full frame at an affordable price. My photos are amazing. I love the feel, settings, locations of all controls, and the fact that you can change your lenses. Ditch the kit lens and you have a great camera!

Very Happy Camper!

I have been a die hard Canon user for over 35 years now, I've had Film camera's AE and AE1 and AE1 Program that I used to do Weddings with. I've had 2 other DSLR's in the past, the Rebel XTi and XSi and I've loved them both, though with all the updates to the cameras I feel they've fallen behind. So decided to see what else was out there and found the T3i and I'm happy already and I've only taken a few hundred shots in the last few days! I agree there's more to this camera then I'll probably ever use, as I'm a die hard Manual fan, I need control over what I'm shooting to be sure I'm getting what I want. I've tried some of the video which I've never done before and it appears that my San Disk 48mb Class 10 card isn't fast enough, it keeps shutting down after a few secs. No problem, not what I got the camera for. With all my older cameras, I never felt the need for an IS lens, with this one I got my first one, and I'm sold on them now, and I'm drooling over a 150-600 IS lens that's gonna set me back a bit though would REALLY improve my love of Canon Cameras! Keep up the great work Canon, you've got a fan for life here!

Perfect Starter DSLR!

I bought this camera about a month ago and I was very excited with all the great features it offered as soon as I started using it. It is the perfect platform to enter the world of photography. Within the month of ownership and a little studying I have become a very capable amateur photographer. I bought a faster F/1.8 lens and the quality of my photos are on par with professional photography. However, some of my best shots are with the kit lens which will always be useful with its image stabilization. This camera has gotten me so enthusiastic about photography I'm already considering upgrading to a higher end body but I don't think I'll ever want to let this one go!

Great beginner purchase

Ordered this camera around a year and a half ago as my first SLR and am now just moving on to the Canon 70D. Great starting camera! Simple enough to use but also takes great photos in the process. Not the fastest to focus or sharpest when it comes to action but a great camera for landscape and portraits!

Difficult to use

I've had a Rebel T3i for about a year. It will not take a picture that is any further then 30-49 feet. Beyond that, the image is tiny and not magnified. I have tried every trick I know. Changing lenses is useless. The 5x & 10x enhances the image only on the display screen. The actual picture is terrible and not at all enlarged. Every single time I use it, I'm disappointed.

Great Camera

Have owned this camera for 4 years now. It has proven to be a versatile and very usable camera. Fast focusing and a fairly accurate metering system. It impressed me from day one. Light weght and comfortable to hold. I own other canons to include the 6D and 70D, but I still find myself gra bing this one for a days shooting simply because I am so used to it. It has never let me down.

Best Entry Level Camera

The Canon T3i for me is the best camera for DSLR beginners. The articulated screen is so convenient especially in hard angled views. the kit lens that comes with it will be a good practice lens. I am using this camera for low light shooting and astrophotography and am really happy with the results. I'm sure this camera would last long when properly cared and maintained.

stay away from t3 i

Had issues with the automatic focus the first day wish I would have returned it then. The fuzz lining in the camera continues to fall off witch pervents the automatic focus from working. I saw many many people had this issue with this camera. I even sent it out for repair still not fixed.

Best overall brand

In 2006, I saw a review on TV for the Powershot A410, and I decided that a compact was a good match for my needs. For it's size and price, this turned out to be an outstanding camera with great automated functions and some basic custom features. I still have it as a backup. In 2012 I decided to get a little more serious so I picked up a Rebel T3 / 18-55 IS II lens kit along with a 55-250 IS II lense. With this camera, I learned that I have a pretty strong interest in photography. As I learned more about my shooting style, and the features and strengths of the T3, I eventually saw a need for something a little more advanced, however I wanted to be able to make use of my EFS lenses for the short term. When I found out that the t3i had been discontinued, I decided that I had better get one while I could still find a brand new one. I have low vision, and can't use touch screen cameras because the proximity sensor shuts the screen off when I get close enough to see it, so I took advantage of my last chance at a good crop body and picked up a T3i / 18-55 IS II kit so I could sell my old one. The T3i lived up to my expectations. In many ways it's similar to the t3 but offers a more advanced image sensor, an articulated screen and more external controls, which I have already found to be a big help after 2 months of light use. Articles I've read state that the Canon lens lineup is the best in the industry, both in terms of clearity and focal length. For this reason, I plan to stick with Canon products. They have done well for me so far, and both old models are still working perfectly. The image sensors in the new Rebel Tx take full advantage of the abilities of the kit lenses, so my next step is to get a faster portrait lens, and eventually a faster telephoto zoom. I still haven't seen the full extent of this camera's abilities.

Canon T3i

My review of the Canon T3i is positive. While searching for the best value camera for its price range, I decided on the Canon T3i. First of all it has an 18 mega pixel resolution, but when learning of the CMOS I found that the Canon APS-C is just a little bit smaller than other cameras in its price range. I was not dismayed about this fact. The camera does all I need it to do. The menu is easily followed and if you decide to use it to make videos, you will need a faster card than what Canon recommends. I purchased a 128 GB Class 10 card and it will not function using that card for videos. You will need a faster card with faster write speeds. The camera writes so fast to the buffer the class 10 card simply cannot keep up with the camera. I would suggest that you use a Class 10 card with a UHS-1 speed. Although Canon does not think a UHS-1 card is supported by this camera, I've read many reviews about using this card for videos. One reviewer stated that he called Canon support and they told him that a UHS-1 card CAN be used with the Canon T3i. The kit lens does a pretty good job for general photography, but if you want to shoot wildlife you will need to get a telephoto lens for the camera. Canon makes a lot of really nice lenses for their cameras, however, I'll probably purchase a non-auto focus lens because I use the camera mostly in the manual mode and do not mind focusing on my subject. I think auto-focus lenses are overpriced and totally unnecessary. I guess I'm still a film camera user that has moved to the digital camera age. All of my 35mm film cameras never had any auto-focus lenses on them. They were not made at that time. I feel that if you are an amateur photographer then an auto-focus lens may be right for you. However, image stabilization is almost a must for any camera lens. When using non auto-focusing lenses I usually use a tripod to eliminate camera shake. I guess it just depends on what you want to do as a photographer. If I had the money I surely would have purchased a Canon 5D mark iii as it is a full frame sensor camera. I consider the Canon 5D mark iii as the "Cadillac" of the full frame DSLR cameras. Although the Canon T3i will not take HDR photos, it is still a remarkable little compact Digital Single Lens Reflex camera. The menu system is easy to use and the "Q" functions are very handy when making adjustments to your shooting style. As previously stated, I use my Canon almost entirely in the manual mode because I like to maintain full control of my shots, using a tripod when necessary. I like the T3i's ability to use a flash while using very slow shutter speeds when shooting at night. It will light up the foreground just enough while using a long exposure for photographing the moon. My photographer buddy sold me on the Canon line of cameras even though I'd looked at other brands. I think that I shall get much use out of my Canon T3i and when I want to update to a full frame camera, I'll probably get the Canon 5D mark iii. I just looked at an e-mail from Canon and they have just released the Canon T6i, a 24.2 mega pixel camera that really looks good with its wi-fi capability. What really impressed me is their new 50.6 mega pixel camera, the 5Ds and 5Dsr, but I'm sure by the time I get to that point they will have released an even more superlative camera than the 5Dsr. Canon just keeps making great cameras. Rusty

Worst camera purchase ever

I have had the camera for two years, had to return it twice for defects under warranty, the first time one month after purchasing it because a glitch in the software made it impossible to eject the SD card. Now, I have to send the lens in, (third service request, because a screw has gotten loose and rattles inside, messing up the autofocus function, and at times blocking the manual adjustment altogether. In addition, from the beginning, there were multiple times when the focus just goes in and out, for ever, and makes it impossible to actually release the trigger. Needless to say, many great shots were missed because of this inability to simply shoot. I have had to disable automatic focus. But then again, it is easy to forget that I am no longer on automatic focus, and have to manually focus instead. Result: pictures end up being fuzzy. In short, this camera is a huge waste of time and money.

great camera

love the camera, getting the package deal was the only way to go. I did have a hard time following the directions. It seems hard looking for information. Maybe tabs or colored side bars would be helpful. Quick instructions in the front of the book on how to set and shoot quicker, then followed by i depth directions when you are used to handling the camera.

Very happy with purchase

Refurbished but no signs of previous handling. I purchased this camera a year ago (Dec.2013 and it's my first DSLR after decades of film SLR. Even though I added numerous upgrade telephoto and wide angle lenses to my system, I'm still impressed with the functionality and optical quality of the included kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm IS). So far the camera has been a solid performer and is full of useful features and enhances my outdoors and bird-watching hobbies. Unlike, the other major camera manufacturer, Canon sells repair-parts to the end user. If you're a DIYer that's priceless.

Love my camera, but I'm not able to upload photos to my iMac anymore because Cannon has not kept up with current operating systems. EOS Utility will not launch on Yosemite and it appears there is no good workaround.

canon T3i

A while back, I purchased a Canon rebel T3i that came with two 58 mm lens. Let me tell you that the pictures this camera produces are spectacular! I use this camera for professional photography and recreational photography. I'm totally blown away by the quality of both the camera and photos. Very easy to learn, many tutorials on line for the rebel T3i. And the option to use wireless slave flashes makes it even better. Canon, the rebel T3i rocks, this photographer is in love. Do many add ons available. This camera is a must have for anyone looking to buy a DSLR. Thank you canon for a great product!

This is my first DSLR and I am very happy with it! I was skeptical about buying refurbished products, but it seems brand new! their is not one flaw or anything wrong with it, and I would definitely buy refurbished products again. every time I use it I like it more. the ISO performance is awesome, the focus speed on the kit lens is very fast, and overall performance and build quality is basically perfect, it is a great camera at a great price. thank you Canon!

AWESOME T3I

I bought my T3I a couple years ago and have had nothing but fun ever since. Now my hobby is 100% taking pictures. I love it. I love learning everything about this camera. I'm so proud after posting a picture to the different social networking sites and friends responding how beautiful my pictures are. I like my camera more than I do most DSLR cameras popping out onto the online stores & market. I am a Canon owner for life. Now that I am on 100% disability I've learned to take up my spare time being 'creative'. I can be totally upset and go off to the local park and start taking pictures and forget the bad things that life throws your way. Thanks to ALL the Quality Control specialists that work for Canion. Like I said in the beginning, I have NEVER had an issue with my T3I and can't find anything negative online about my (T3I) camera. When I get the money I will upgrade to the 70D (an old mans dream). Something to hope and wish for, I'll keep saving and maybe get one before I pass on. My T3I will goto a grandson who also enjoys my photography hobby. Sorry this was so long of a review but really just a tip of the iceberg on how I feel about my camera. Best of luck to all new and old photographers out there with YOUR Canon camera. A special thanks to Canin for making such a great product!!

Simply Amazing Camera

I still own two original Canon AE1 film SLR cameras and I have owned and used a digital EOS Rebel XTi for the past 3-1/2 to 4 years. This camera was an upgrade and ... WOW what an understatement that is. From the redesign of the grip to the flip-out view screen to the numerous new features ... and the ability to do 1080P HD Video!! As I said in the title ... a Simply Amazing Camera. Whether you are a complete beginner to SLR cameras and are just using it with completely automatic settings or ...

Good for video, but worth buying over T2i?

By DR

I use Canon DSLRs for movie/film making, and the Canon T3i is definitely a good buy. It has amazing video quality, and good features. However, is this camera worth the extra hundreds over the T2i? My answer: not really. This camera is fantastic, but it has the same amount of megapixels, frame rates, and other basic features as the T2i. Unless the swivel screen is that important to you, I would just go with the T2i. If you have the money for a 60D, buy it. It's a lot better than the T3i and T2...
