Questions & Answers

MARK L : Is this the correct device for wireless control of a Canon C300 digital cinema camera?ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this unit is for wireless transfer of data only.
Hernan C : Once the camera is connect through the WFT-E6A, how do we make Lightroom to display the photos soon after the camera takes the picture? I have tried by setting the folder but nothing happensHENDERS H : You have to set a "hot folder" in lightroom or phaseone software Capture one sofware is way faster at viewing jpegs sent from WFTBYRON C : I bought a Canon WFT-E4 II A Wireless File Transmitter. Your question about the WFT-E6A was referred to me. I could not get the WFT-E4 to work and returned it for a refund. Tried calling Canon and they did not have an answer either. It was not just an issue for Lightroom. The device had no functionality.STEVE I : Search for "lightroom autoimport". There will be a link to an Adobe help page for setting Lightroom to auto import from a watched folder. Basically, you set Lightroom to watch the same folder the EOS utility is saving to. There's a step or two to enable auto import in Lightroom. I use this feature all the time when shooting tethered or remote.JOEL S : You can configure Lightroom "AutoImport" under the "File" menu to bring them into Lightroom as you shoot them. It has the option to run presets, etc. as you import. However if you want to run processes and print as you shoot you can use "PrintRipper" - a software piece by Allen Christopher(he has web site) - it will take the files, process them and print them as they are transferred into a folder which you set it to watch. Use "Shuttersnitch" if you want to do this with your phone or iPad then run to slideshow - we do this at weddings and events connecting it to large flat screen or HD video projector.
Hernan C : After I have connected the 1dx canon camera to my computer through the WFT-E6A Wireless Transmiter, how can I see immediately the photos as I shoot them in my macpro using light room in it? I want to try using wireless instead of theater wires. THanks for your help!Scott N : I use the Canon EOS utility to connect to the computer and then go into Lightroom and connect just like you would if you were doing a tethered capture with a USB cable. The functionality is the exact same except that the camera is tethered via wifi and not USB cable.NANCY S : Get in touch with Gary Box, Cr. Photog in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He's written "Shooting Wirelessly from Canon to pad" (8 1/2" x 11") There are complete instructions, photos of settings and how he uses the ipad with clients. I couldn't have done it without the book. It walks you through the process, and is very worth the price. Do ask him if the book covers your equipment. Nancy SalisburyRONALD L : The transmitter I have attaches to the bottom of the camera. The signal is sent via a wireless router . Once the software is loaded to computer, you can see the photos on computer as the are taken.

It won't connect when you are in a building with lots of wireless devices and signals

It won't connect when you are in a building with lots of wireless devices and signals. As a news photographer, I am in these situations quite often. When I was covering a campaign stop in Atlanta it would not connect to my computer. I spent hours on the phone with tech support trying to get it to work. As soon as I left the building it worked fine.

Happy with the device out of the box, will follow up after next game.

Preface this review with, I just got it, arrived right on time as promised by Adorama. I will follow up in a week after my next indoor soccer game I work with actual live working conditions functionality. I had no issue setting the device up and connecting right into "Adobe Lightroom" for wireless tethered capture over my home wifi network. It took me only 5 minutes to set up ( I do have to say thought that I have about 15 years of experience in LAN, IT and networking ). For someone who is not familiar with network setups this device might present more of a challenge to set up. Again, I will follow up in a week after I have actually used this at a game.

WFT-E6A Works Great

I've got one of these for ech one of my 1Dx's. These are the best wft's Canon has made. They are faster and will resend automatically if disconnected. I use these for everything from sports to weddings for immediate review of images. I've been using WFT's on all my 1 series cameras since 2007. I would not be without these on a paid shoot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

• For C300 Mark II, C500, and C300 Cameras
• Wireless-Only LAN Function

The Canon WFT-E6A Wireless Transmitter is an impressive device that boasts several upgrades over earlier permutations. Designed specifically for use with Canon's EOS-1D x, this transmitter offers wireless-only LAN functionality for ease when transferring data. It also now supports IEEE 802.11n for safe, fast wireless LAN transfers. Additionally, an internal Bluetooth function (Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR) is included for a secure connection to Bluetooth-compatible GPS devices for high-capacity data transfers.

The WFT-E6A also sports wireless time syncing now, which is a great advantage to those shooting events, allowing you to make adjustments to the device without having a direct connection to a computer. And in another upgrade, the WFT-E6A is also lighter and smaller than earlier models. It still features the same dustproof and waterproof capabilities it's older siblings have. In addition, the transmitter is able to link up to 10 cameras for numerous points of view on a single subject - but now with improved linkage to a WFT server by allowing it to start simultaneously when the master camera and slave cameras are manually connected.
