I bought the Delkin Pop-up Shade & Protective Cover a year ago to both protect the LCD on my Digital Rebel XT and to make viewing the LCD easier in sunny shooting conditions. I shoot a lot of outdoor sporting events and the small screen of the Rebel XT would always wash out in sunlight. The shade certainly made viewing images on the LCD easier in sunlight. The Delkin Pop-up Shade is constructed from high quality plastic, but the shade is an assembly of 3 separate pieces. The main protective plate attaches to the camera by sliding over the camera's original eye cup mounts. The shade has it's own separate eye cup that attaches to the main plate by two small plastic hooks, and the LCD shade also attaches to the main plate by several small plastic hooks. Be warned! The eye cup attachment and the LCD shade cover slide off easily on their own. As a result, I lost the eye cup portion in a crowd at the 2006 World Series celebrations in the St Louis Busch Stadium, and the LCD shade slipped off at some point during shooting at a college football game. My recommendation if you buy the Delkin Pop-up shade is to buy some inexpensive super glue, and place some glue on the plastic clips attaching the eye cup and LCD shade to the main plate. With the loss of the eye cup portion and the LCD shade I'm basically left with a bulky LCD cover now and I'm no better off than I was before purchasing Delkin's Pop-up shade.

The shade does what it says it will do. But I did find that the hood and eypiece will come loose easily if not secured. I actually lost an eyepiece while on a shoot, Delkin was kind enough to send me a replacement at no charge. I secured both the hood and eyepiece by applying tiny dabs of clear silicone caulk with a toothpick. end of issue.

I have been looking for something to cover the LCD display and keep it clean and this product does that and more. You snap off the OEM eyepiece and snap this on in its place and it protects everything on the back of the camera. The sunshade is removable as well.

Pop-Up Shades are LCD screen protective covers, which double as glare guards. These sturdy, lightweight covers are easily installed (and removed), protect a digital camera's expensive LCD screen in the closed position, and pop up to provide easier viewing of the display in bright sunlight.
The cover easily pops up to form a little three sided canopy over the LCD to diminish glare, and folds right back down when you're finished. A camera grade, optically clear glass (itself protected with a clear protective film cover to prevent shipping scratches) continues to guard the LCD screen when the shade is up.
Snap on covers literally hook onto the grooves in your camera. Buttons on the Professional shade are aligned with your camera, to reduce the wear and tear on delicate parts and components. Color and design matches your camera model.
Pop-Up Shades differ from alternatives on the market, being made with hard impact plastic that snaps shut over the camera's LCD screen. Unlike other one size fits all LCD hoods on the market that fold or are designed with a bellows look, Pop-Up Shades are designed specifically for every individual camera model. Every Pop-Up shade snaps into place with the flick of a finger to shade the screen from bright light.
