Other pens can penetrate the backing on a CD or DVD, causing errors, or their ink can flake off. These pens are made solvent-free, specifically for marking on discs. The actual pen differs from the picture, and their true name is "Archival Gold." Mine arrived with the cap of one broken, which will cause it to dry out prematurely. Fortunately, each pen has two ends: a fine point and a medium point.

This label pen really works well! I can label cds and NOT worry about the ink smudging or dissolving the plastic cd! I'd like to see the pen colored in a florescent color with three black stripes running the length of the body to make it easy to find & to identify as a "special" purpose marker!

I now use only these Archivally safe Delkin markers for all my image files. Love the double points, one thicker and the other more suited to dvds.

I liked that one side of the pen had a fine tip and the other side had a bold tip. [...]

Does not harm CD or DVD. Just the right line thickness. Writes very smoothly. Dries fairly quickly.

Best to check the specs on Delkin's website first. They prominently claim these pens do not work with scratch-armor coating.

Does not work well on CD's or DVD's with Scratch Armor coating.
