Just got the hyperdrive album - amazing product. I put in a 640 gb harddrive myself ([$] on [...]) and got the case only (which sells for [$] flat). Downloads and allows previews of RAW files and other image types. In addition, it was super fast at completing the transfer and appears to have good battery life (though I havent tested it extensively). The reason this is potentially better than a small netbook is that it is smaller (~4x6") and easier to carry. If you're traveling or just even out and about shooting for the day, you can avoid even bringing a laptop and just have this with you. High quality, fast memory cards are expensive and this product has allowed me to invest in 2-3 good cards, and then backup when I need more space. It can also download my video files (though you cant view them), so for my new HD Canon videocamera combined with my DSLR its a great way to have space while traveling.

The Sanho HyperDrive Album (Case only) is a portable, digital photo viewer without hard-drive. It features a 4.8" 16-million-colors WVGA display and supports SD/CF cards; plus it's capable of decoding and display RAW images. More importantly, the HyperDrive is capable of a UDMA 40MB/s transfer speed and it can even backup 2GB of photo data in less than 1 minute - with full data verification.
Once photos have been added, the unit's CRC copy verification and S.M.A.R.T. monitor ensures data integrity. In addition, built-in data recovery tools allow users to recover formatted, deleted, lost, or corrupted files without hassle. Additional features include password protection, a rechargeable Li-ion battery that supports up to 200GB of download per charge and support for incremental backups.
