As a professional photographer, I was always one to "trust my eyes" when it came to color. Yes, I would use the built in monitor calibration to get the best visual colors I could, but when printing- either in house or from a lab- the colors were good, but not always perfect. Since using the Spyder 4 and actually thinking that "this can't be right", I was amazed in the accuracy when printing vs. the visual on the monitor. 100% inprovement in skin tones and other colors in the images. I do a lot of portrait work, and skin tones are critical to professional quality. If you don't have one, get one. And be surprised at how far "off" your monitor really is. You might be like me and actually have to send images to the lab to compare, but once you do, you will will amazed at actually seeing great colors, not "acceptable" to most people.

Waste of money

I paid $70+ for this item, I think it is a waste of money, I do not notice any difference having it installed or not. I am trying to contact Adorama to return it.

A c'meter is an accessory for C'meter?

By

from Iowa  -  Quality Oriented

This Adorama page not only shows a more expensive colorimeter from the same brand as an "accessory" for this colorimeter, but even the little side bar ad says the more expensive colorimeter is intended as an accessory for this less expensive colorimeter. What the heck?

A quick painless screen correction

By

from Atlanta  -  Quality Oriented

I use it to calabrate my screen to judge Photoshop correcttion of my professional photos. I use it as a guide for printing my art photos. It seems to have brightness down right and the color match is very close using an Epson 2880 printer. It was easy to install and use even for an artistic non-Geek. It was a pleasure to have a program work the first time without the usual complications.

Easy to set up and use

By

from Texas  -  Quality Oriented

I would recommend this item, once I installed the software, the Spyder 4 Express had my monitor calibrated in no time. I might add, I had never calibrated before, so was pleasantly surprised to find my colors were not so far off on my current monitor. I would recommend this product!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

By

from Corona, CA  -  Quality Oriented

I am amazed at how easy this device is to use. I have had my monitor for a couple of years and had manually adjusted my monitor according to information on the web. However, I was perplexed by the purple fringing on Windows stock photos I was using for my background and suspected this was also impacting my displayed photos in LR. So, I purchased the Spider. The Spider made minor adjustments to color but considerable adjustments to brightness and contrast. The purple fringing is gone!!! I am now confident that conditions and colors I am working with in LR are inherent to the photo and not induced by the monitor.

Very cool

By

from Harrisburg, PA  -  Quality Oriented

Bought this because printed images weren't matching images on monitor closely enough. Very easy step-by-step instructions to calibrate your monitor and very pleased with the end result. The only hang-up was related to some settings on the monitor. Forget contacting Samsung (if that's your monitor type) because they were of no help. That's an issue with them, not with Data Color or this calibration tool.

Great product

By

from Syracuse NY

To start off, this is a great product. It is easy to use, and does the job well. I use this product because I wanted the best color accuracy I could get. I primarily work with photography, but it makes everything look great, from the web, to games etc. It helps your display to display the correct colors. My display was very cool/blue before, and now it's vibrant and warm. It takes some getting used to, as everything appears green when you are so used to a blue tinted display, but once you get used to it the pictures look much more accurate and match the LCD on my camera. I would highly recommend this product if you do not already have a color calibration system. Pro -Easy to use -Effective -Looks great -Good price Cons -Not many options on this base model -Screen appears green at times (But this could be either my monitor itself, or just my eyes because they are used to a very blue monitor.) -No easy way to switch between old and new ICC profile. Overall it's a great product, for a good price. If you've never tried a color calibrator before, You need to try this. The green tint does bother me at times because I can not tell if it is how things are supposed to be displayed or if there is an issue.
