About Fujifilm EF 42

Powerful and versatile, the Fujifilm EF-42 provides complete TTL performance. For precise lighting, the flash can be moved 90deg. upward, 180deg. to the left and 120deg. to the right, flexibly supporting bounce shooting and other operations.

Allowing reference by different values, the focal length display can be switched between the digital display (APS-C) and the 35-mm film size converted display on the LCD while the wide range of functions and user-friendly controls make the EF-42 easy to use. The guide number of 24 to 42 changes automatically to the lens focal length while the flash will also zoom automatically between 24mm and 105mm (up to 20mm with the wide panel).

Allowing full manual control, the EV can be adjusted in 7 steps (-1.5, -1, -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1, +1.5) while the power ratio can be adjusted in 7 steps (FULL,1/2,1/4,1/8,1/16,1/32,1/64). When shooting in the dark or dimly lit places, the near infrared assist light is automatically illuminated to enable automatic focusing.

EF-42 and Fuji X10

I purchased the EF-42 to couple with my X10. Works smoothly and well. No surprises; the flash does exactly what its rating indicates. The flash weight is not cumbersome. The flash cycles rapidly. No complaints as the flash works as advertised.

Barely used it.

I barely used this before realising the X-S1 was not a good enough camera for my uses and selling the whole kit and replacing it with the Canon G1x.

Great Companion to my Fuji X Cameras

Good strong adjustable flash for use with Fuji cameras. I use it with a Fuji X-Pro1 and an X-E2. Both cameras work well with this flash.

Works great

By

from Huntsville, AL  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Got this flash for my legally blind retired professional photographer father to use when photographing events for a local cancer survivors group. Covers large group photos well. Also does good at lighting candids from a distance. Only con he's noticed is the autofocus on the camera seems to be slowed down when using his flash, he gets a few shots that are not as sharply focused as they should be.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Oleg O  Does it come with a diffuser cap like Nikon flashes do?
ROBERTA M  It has a slide out, flip down, wide panel that is used for wide angle photos. I could be used as a diffuser when bouncing flash also.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
PAUL M  Wanted a full-featured flash to use with my X10, and have been very pleased with the results. Looking forward to using the flash with the XS1 when it arrives.
irwin p  Can this flash be used as a slave???
MICHAEL G  No. It's a good flash, but it doesn't have that capability. I use mine for fill flash either on shoe or connected by a cable and it works nice for that on my HS25EXR. Check to see if the EF-X20 has a slave mode and if it will work with your camera.
