So I bought this laptop last week for university as it was the cheapest ultra-book offered that qualified for the student Xbox deal. It is not the most premium laptop around but it has exceeded my expectations. Good: >Overall Design. The Folio 13 looks and feels very nice. There is no noticeable give anywhere on the machine. The brushed aluminum is very nice to touch with the only downside being its attractiveness to grime on the outer lid. Even the bottom plastic feels nice. > Keyboard. The keyboard is very well arranged with a nice back light and good key feel for a laptop. It really is mac book quality. >Performance. The processor is a low tier i5 and the integrated 3000 graphics are not going to go much past PS2 era gaming or movie watching. The only reason i'm giving the performance as a plus it the 128GB solid state hard drive. It is surprisingly fast with reboot times below 30 seconds and application launches zippy as well. >Cooling. This system is very quiet due imho to the ssd and mild processor specs. The fan never exceeded a whisper in my tests. In addition the laptop never got particularly hot on the top and only mildly hot on the bottom when I obscured the bottom fans by resting the folio on my lap. OK >Sound. The speakers are decent with a bit of a tinny sound. The big plus is the ability to go really loud for playing music, YouTube or whatever to a small crowd. > Track pad. Its pretty good. Its large and of a good texture but the pinch to zoom is a bit jerky. Bad. >Screen. it is a very low screen resolution for a laptop of this size. There is also a slight reflection to it if used in bright areas. Colors also look washed on this screen. The only positive is that it has a wide viewing angle. I'm glad I have an external monitor. >This laptop needs another usb port, preferably usb3.0.

I am enrolled in college in the fall, and I was looking for a laptop that was not only small and portable, but also pretty fast. I have had a laptop for about 4 years now and it has just gotten outdated. So after quite a bit of research I chose to look into ultrabooks. I hadn't heard much about them really. All i really knew is that it was supposed to be the PC version of a Macbook Air. And i have used both the Macbook air, and now the HP folio 13, and this ultrabook is just as good as the apple, if not better. This is by far the best purchase I could have made. I have had it for a month now and it is still going just as good as day one. The only Con is that this comes with a pretty large amount of bloatware but anyone with basic knowledge of how to run a PC will be able to remove them with ease. The SSD is extremely fast, and the speed, in my opinion, the speed out-weighs the size. This is BY FAR the best deal of all of the other ultrabooks that are available at this time. The processor, SSD, and very large selection of ports on this machine are amazing for the very reasonable price. Also very fast shipping. Overall this is the fastest computer I have ever used and i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a very portable and extremely fast notebook. 5 STARS!

I lugged my 8 pound other brand old PC through airports for 4 straight days. I got home and ordered the Folio. This light machine is full featured. The keyboard feels just like my full size keyboard at home. The Solid State start up is remarkable. I just spent two days in meetings and calling on people in a large office complex, with my Folio easily under my arm. This is a great product at a reasonable price.

About the only thing I would like to have more of in this computer is memory.

The laptop look nice and solid. The system is fast and start up time is amazing Keyboard is soft and easy to type. . HOWEVER, the connection speed of the wireless card is maximum 65 MBPS to 75 MBPS only so it was suggested that you buy an extra usb wireless network adapter for a better wireless connection speed.

Several issues right out of the box. Laptop would not charge with charger plugged in. Spent 3 hours with tech support before I fixed the problem myself by updating the motherboard firmware. Issues with wi-fi; laptop won't reconnect to wi-fi when waking from sleep mode so I have to manually reconnect each time. Tech support tells me that its a problem with my router but the issue happens no matter whose network I'm on. I would not recommend this item to anyone until HP works out the bugs.

I bought this specifically for traveling. It's great for that. Lightweight, very fast boot, even from a cold start. Tremendous battery life. Finally, as it runs Windows, I can use all the programs I need.

I couldn't be happier with the HP Folio 13. It is lightweight, fast, and has long battery life. I also love the keyboard. I recently took 3 back-to-back business trips with several airlines. Even in cramped quarters, I was able to work and entertain myself with ease. I lowered the screen brightness during a very long day and got even more battery life than I thought possible. My co-worker has a MacBook Air. We compared the form factor and were surprised that for the same size screen, the HP Folio was actually a little shorter when the screen was up -- this means that it takes up less room on the airplane tray table.

I've had this computer for a week and I'm pleased with my purchase. I looked at a number of ultrabooks and this seemed to have the best mix of what I was looking for--inputs, processor, size, etc. It's definitely a little heavier than other available ultrabooks, but I also think it feels more sturdy, which I appreciate. And it's such a slight difference that I don't think anyone would notice when it's in a bag or backpack. The screen is great. I don't agree with other reviews that say it appears a bit muted. What is true from other reviews I've read is that the touchpad is a bit stiff and doesn't offer much customization. This is my main issue, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. I assume I will adapt to it. Also, it revs a little high at times. It's not loud, but other machines are quieter. Overall, it's a great ultrabook. Any weaknesses it has are likely less significant than than the weaknesses I identified in other machines.

Way better than my DV6 with the Core i3 I bought 2 years ago, Outperfoming it in every way and it had the interchangable Radeon and Intel graphics card

This is one of the best laptops i have owned. It's fast, light and the battery lasts forever. What else can you want? The only negative i see is that the keys touch the LCD screen when it is closed. I can see marks on the screen. I hope it doesn't get scratched eventually.

The quick-boot and portability really made this useful on my first trip with it. I'm trying to go to cloud-based work, and taking it with me to meetings -- it weighs less than the leather notebook I usually carry, not to mention the calendar that goes along with it! I'm concerned about the small hard drive memory, but so far, so good. It has really improved my productivity. Great on the airplane - could open, get in a paragraph, shut it down and put it in the seat pocket in front of me before the doors closed. Battery life terrific, too - seven hours of constant use and still more to go!

I ordered the Folio when it had only been out for a few days. After looking at a few reviews by reputable websites and doing the necessary research, I decided to go ahead and buy it. What a great decision that was! The computer is so fast! I love the SSD, it makes everything so much better! The computer was rumored to be "bulky" for the ultraportable class of laptops, but it's extremely lightweight and convenient. The graphics are great, and the audio is above average. For the price, I really think this is the best deal out on the market today.

I bought this for my wife because it says it has an Solid State Drive and up to 9.25 hour battery life. I was very dissapointed. I got 3 hours from the battery doing very little with this computer.

The HP Folio 13 is a solid machine with the features I needed. After trying out a MacBook Air, I decided that I wanted Windows. This “ultrabook” is very impressive, with design and build quality that compare favorably with the MBA. Features include two USB ports, HDMI port, Ethernet port, media card reader, headphone/mic jack and a very nice backlit keyboard. The keyboard is a pleasure to use, and the touchpad works very smoothly. The speakers have surprisingly good sound for a machine of this size. There is very little fan noise, except when the processor is under a heavy load. The machine certainly seems fast enough to meet my needs. I am using it with an Airport Extreme router, and wireless performance is excellent. Battery life is outstanding. I would have preferred a matte finish on the display, rather than the glossy finish it has. This could be distracting if you have a light source directly behind you. But the display has good brightness, which cancels out most reflections. Sharpness and contrast are also good. The Folio 13 is not the lightest ultrabook available, but weight was not my primary consideration. I prefer a solidly built machine with the features I need. The HP ultrabook is a beautiful machine with excellent ergonomics. I have used it for extended periods with no problem at all. I think HP has built a great ultrabook, and I am very pleased with it. (And HP shipped mine earlier than expected!)
