Questions & Answers

mike s : Is the once open box new? Is battery and charger included? Is it ready to do wireless or do I need get the adapter?ROSLYN P : Yes, it is new. All you need to do is plug it in set up ePrint and connect to the Internet. No additional equipment is needed. I love my Envy.OLENA D : no battery charger needed.just plug and download program. You will have to call H/P for help not as easy as they make it out to be.KENNETH A : Don't know about the once open box and there is no battery and charger. The printer is ready to do wireless printing as is. You need only set up the network address etc. as you would with any networked device. It was very easy to set up and mine is still working fine as is the one that I bought for my daughter.WILEY C : Mike, Sorry I can't answer your first question, I bought my HP Envy new. Mine came with the power adapter. The HP Envy is ready for wireless right out of the box and pretty easy to set up with Mac computers. I did not need to buy an adapter for wireless connection.
Clark B : Does the item have autofeed capability (for a document to be printed for example.)?MATTHEW B : Yes, it will automatically feed the paper from the small tray located in the bottom center of the printer.LISA T : I've been using this printer for about a year now. It grabs each page from the internal paper tray automatically and I've never had a paper jam. Haven't tried it with envelopes yet.GAIL B : The top lifts up to place a doument on the glass to copy or scan. The copy paper tray pulls out on the front to load & auto feeds for print. Sleek looking printer, easy set-up & ease of use. Not designed for HIGH volume copy jobs but that not what I was seeking. Purchased Apr11. No problems to report. Recommend.
Clark B : Does this have an auto feed printing capability?DEBORAH C : I answered you earlier and misunderstood your question no it does not have an auto feed you would have to lay on printer bed to copyDEBORAH C : Yes you fill the paper tray and goDEAN C : Yes it does. However, it doesn't like to print too many color images in a row - will come out streaky or inaccurate. The color ink cartridges are combined in 1, so if one of the 3 colors runs out you have to buy a new cartridge for all 3. Black ink is separate. Also, i've had this just over a year and don't use it in any extraordinary way. But the scanner system is very finicky. I've had to uninstall and reinstall twice, and it's gone on the blink yet again. It's annoying to the point where I just purchased a separate scanner, the Envy's is too unreliable. Otherwise it looks good if you have it in view but don't get seduced by the slick appearance.AARON W : yes, I would say it does.TODD C : No it does not. Manual feed on scanner bed onlyJEREMY D : I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'auto feed printing." It has a paper tray that stores the paper in the machine--it holds ~100 sheets at a time. It can do things like double sided printing without you doing a thing, also.Clark B : Perhaps I was not clear enough. Can I put a large doc on the feed tray and have it automatically copy?STEVE I : No document feeder is available

In love...

I had a wireless HP printer previous to this and it finally gave up on me. I have to say that the set up of the HP Envy was very easy - it was ready to go in less than 10 minutes. I have enjoyed my experiences so far. I haven't taken advantage of all of the features just yet, but I am excited for it's future uses.

So very disappointed

Started to set up my beautiful new printer and got a message that there was a paper jam (even though the paper wasn't loaded yet). Couldn't align the cartridges because after I loaded paper it did jam or come out wrinkled. Was a breeze setting it up to my network and was able to print (in between jams) from my iPad which was great but then none of the apps worked . . . So not what I expected from an HP product.

HP Envy printer is deligtful

The HP Envy printer works as advertised and some; with lots of useful features. Had no problems at all to set it up right out of the box and print from the iPhone 4S, iPad2 and iMac. Uses very little desk space and one can pile papers on its flat top as well. I recommend it to anyone, not least for saving $$$ for cartridges. The two each cartridges required are $31.50/unit or $63 for a two pack as I just found them in a store.

Works well most of the time...

Easy set up and all works well EXCEPT! The HP app for the IPhone will not find the printer. I installed and reinstalled the app several times w/o any luck... It works about 80% of the time when sending eprint jobs via eprint web address...

Very Good Buy

I purchased this for my girlfriend for the wireless feature. Hasn't let me down. Since setting it up on our network, very convenient and very easy to install and use. I tried the remote login feature on my computer to try and print an article from a friends computer and worked like a charm. Haven't tried the photo feature yet due to ink usage but i highly recommend this product. Very user friendly

It's a great printer, and I'm just beginning to find and use all it's features. Crisp and clear with good color. A really fine printer.

Quality!

Really easy to setup, I would give it 5 stars but the web services was down the first weekend i bought it which was frustrating, after reinstalling the software my wife can't print wirelessly any more.

Required?

I must write a review of a printer I have used about 4 times to copy a few recipes. It worked great. I hope it continues to do so and to perform other tasks as well, like scanning.

Love it!

Purchased the envy because we wanted someting to fit in our new entertainment console, it does perfectly. Very modern looking, takes up little space and prints excellent. Love it! We will be mostly using it for home use, photos, coupons, projects, et. So the reviews about costly ink didn't bother us since we are not using it for business purposes.

Almost perfect!

I love the look and features of this printer. Of course, I'm still in the honeymoon period of my purchase, but so far no regrets at all. The set-up was easy and the wireless works well. I don't print photos so, for me, the output is crisp and quick. The only negative is that I haven't been able to download the print apps to the printer. I can see my printer from the web, and review maintenance and print from my phone, but I cannot get the apps I set as my favorites to show up on the printer display. Maybe one day I'll care enough about that feature to figure it out. In the meantime, I'm good.

Very Sleek!

I Like this printer a lot! The only cons are that the paper feed tray doesn't hold all that much paper so I am re-loading fairly often, and the door on the front doesn't always close when the print job is finished and the paper is removed. I haven't researched why yet so that may just be a setting I need to change. It's fast and quiet and that is definitely a plus!

Amazing Printer for the Money

Received my HP Envy 100 about a week after Thanksgiving. First of all, it is a very sleek, very attractive printer. Second, I purchased my printer on Black Friday, on-line for such a good deal. Thirdly, the features on this printer are amazing with very easy set up. This is by far one of the best purchases I have ever made!

Good deal

Shipping was very quick. It was easy to set up and start printing. I have not had the problems expressed by other reviewers, everything works like it should. It's nice to be able to print wirelessly from my laptop, netbook, and iphone.

All my friends envy my envy

I have always used HP printers but this is the first time I have had one that actually fits in the area designed for printers on my desk. It is very streamlined. I love the way the paper is completely hidden underneath and all of the controls are flat on the front until you need them. They only appear when you are actually printing. The print quality is very good and the printer is quite, very quite. I have only had the printer less than a week but so far I am very impressed. It seems to be a very good printer for the price. The set up was a breeze and I am not the most savvy person when it comes to computers and printers. I haven't tried all of the apps yet but will be checking them out as soon as possible.

Excellent Product!!!!!!!

Before making a decision on this product I decided to look into the reviews from other custmers, like you are porbably doing now. Some were kind of "too good to be true" and others were a little discouraging. I out-weight the positive and made a decision to get it. Delivery - 5 stars; installation 10 stars!! regardless what you can read on the experience on some other reviews, it took me about half hour to connect the printer to my wireless network, connect it to my computer (wirelessly) and set my iPhones (my wife's and mine). No hassels, no issues, no obstacles. I consider myself an advance user and with that being said, you may think no wonder it was so easy for you. Howver, all I did was to follow the instructions to the letter (yes, I know it s hard to believe being a man and an advance user, but I did!!). Part of the trick was to review the instructions befroe getting started and making sure information was handy for when it is asked. Scanning, printing, copying, browsing the web from its control panel. Everything works great... from my computer and from my iPhones (printed air tickets from the phone that night, scanned documents and printed photos from it as well). And I haven't said anything about how elegant it looks on a desktop which is cool too.

very bad choice

This printer prints well when it works. There is a major flaw with this printer. The panel door gets jam and does not revert ti its close position. Hp tech support is useless. They had me on the phone for an hour, Then decide to send me a replacement. The replace came, and the same problem persist. The panel door worked for a while then stopped working. It appears that other people are having the same problem with this printer. Save your money, and look elsewhere for a printer.

Many Functions, Quite Convenient.

I agree with another review about the set up instructions - quite lean, and you can do just the basics and be quite happy with the printer - though it would not be a good use of your resources. I did the quick install, then the set up for e-print online - the only thing that would make that better is if you could send an e-mail directly from the "add e-mail list" to people so they would know they are on the list. I have since needed to download some extra software to make the printer fully compatible with my Mac OS X (10.6.8 operating on Snow Leopard). If you choose not to take these extra steps, there is really no reason to purchase SUCH A FABULOUS MACHINE. You will be quite happy with a basic printer. I have been using the machine for a week or so. I love the quality of the print outs. I love the HP Utility in my doc. I love the ease of the e-print - SUPER EASY - SUPERY HANDY). I scanned today for the first time, that why I knew I needed the extra software - the printer can see my computer but couldn't send to the computer. BUT - my computer could see and talk with the printer so I completed the scan from the computer rather than the printer. I am not into the apps so much, but I did easily figure out how to print some coloring book pages for the kids. Oh, and the machine is TOTALLY SEXY!

Thanx

What a great little number!!

I picked this printer up for an absolute bargain and thought that is would make a great second printer. I am not disappointed one bit and unless you're wanting stunning speed and photo quality output would suit most people as their one and only. It has wireless capability, supports AirPrint for iPhone/iPad users, offers HP Web Apps which provides you with a multitude of added extras (fantastic for teachers and young families), a 1200 dpi scanner, double sided output, easy to connect both Windows and Mac PCs and looks looks pretty sleek! The only area of caution I have is that installation instructions are somewhat lean. I write this sort of stuff as part of my job, and appreciate the problem. The actual installation process tries to keep it simple, but under the covers a lot is happening and it often goes wrong (google and you'll see what I mean), rendering this a very basic printer; if you're lucky! To overcome shortfalls in the installation process can be quite difficult and frustrating, if you have no idea what's going on! Shame because when it is all working as it says in the write-ups it is a really awesome printer. Definitely recommend this clever little printer; just read up articles on the Net if your installation isn't A1 and preserver.

Great Printer Functionality

I have had my Envy 510a printer for about 8 months and have not had any significant problems with it. Once or twice I had it spit out two pages when there should have been one, but I believe that was because I was using thin inexpensive paper. 20 lb paper works great. The wireless setup was like falling off a log. I just set up the printer on my computer and I was off and printing. I have to keep it next to the kitchen table on the counter and it looks like a piece of furniture - totally unobtrusive. I have printed books with this printer without a problem. I is heavy duty enough to meet my needs. The ink is relatively expensive and you cannot get individual color cartridges but I bought the large economy size and that should last me several months at least. My cat also thinks it is the most marvelous device. He likes to watch the moving parts when it works- trying to figure it out. How's that for a recommendation.

Uses WAY too much ink

I need to print lots of text and I nearly always print using the "plain paper, fast, black and white draft" setting. Nevertheless, the printer needs its ink cartridges changed every 100 or so pages. Not only is it using the black cartridge ridiculously fast, even when I tell it to print only in black it is using the color cartridges and the darn thing won't print, even in black only, without a color cartridge. This is totally unacceptable and I plan to never buy an HP printer again.

Excellent product

I would have to say this is the best printer we have purchased. It was very easy to install and was working in under 10 mins. That is from opening the box to printing the first page. It is perfect for our needs. It is also very sleek looking and so it doesn't look like a printer as it sits on the entertainment center. It looks more like a piece of stereo equipment. I am very glad we found this product on your website. The cost was good too. We were able to purchase it and get the express shipping/delivery for less than I would have paid at other office stores.

Awesome!

I was really surprised at all things this printer can do! I bought it so I could print from my iPhone but I love how it has its on apps. So cool! I can print lined paper for my children to practice writing straight from the printer along with coloring pages and tons more. It was easy to set up and works flawlessly.

Paper jams from day one

The printer works well if you are only printing one page. If you try to print two pages, the second page always gets stuck near the end of the printing process. This happened right out of the box.

Best Printer I've Ever Had!!!

By SeriousUser

I've owned many HP Printers and I can say without a doubt that this is the best printer I've ever owned!!! The print speed is fast; I know other reviewers have said that the print speed is a bit slow, but I think it depends on your network connection. Since this printer is a wireless connection, I know if my router is acting up, then the printer is a little slow to respond to the "print" command. Anyway, the compact size is perfect! I have my printer sitting in the corner of my apartment's g...

Smile on my Face!! :-D

By AlexLuke

I have had the Envy 100a for about two months. I only use it to print/scan/copy documents, so cannot speak to its photo printing capabilities, but for my uses this is just the best home printer I have ever had! Print quality is great for documents -- haven't tried photos at all though. Initially there was some confusion about how/when the door works, but now that I understand the routine, I just LOVE this printer! It fits unobtrusively in my bookcase, looks like a sexy audio component, and w...
