Great value.

Overall I like the tablet. However, it doesn't hold a charge as long as I wish, even if I'm just carrying it in my purse and not turning it on that frequently. Otherwise it was a great value & I just ordered 2 more of them for my grandchildren.

a very good product

I purchased this for my son; the only thing misleading was that there was not enough info as to what would be needed, also showed that the charger pack was recommended, there was one with the product,, and not enough info as to what could be used to get on the internet,, could do nothing with it until that was done. However, if you could just recommend a "hot spot" or on-the-go device, it would be a great help. Other than that, it is a wonderful product; got him hooked on it already!

Easy to use

This is a very easy to use inexpensive device. The screen is perfect size and when playing games on it I found it to have a faster response time then that of the smart phones. I also like that there is no "plans" for the slate that would add additional monthly charges.

This is great little tablet, perfect for my needs

I was hesitant to buy another HP tablet. I had purchased one of the original TouchPads and was obviously disppointed when HP dropped the operating system. I was also concerned that the low price of this tablet might indicate that is is an inferior product in some way. Despite my initial reservations I am very happy with this tablet. It is a great little product! I had read about the audio output being a little low and the screen being less vibrant than Nexus, but they both work fine for me. Actually there is very little I don't like about the tablet. I think HP has designed an elegant solution and they offer it at a low cost. Although you can spend more money for a few features that slightly exceed those of the Slate, in my opinion it is unnecessary. This tablet more than meets my needs. Thanks HP!!

amazing

The battery lasts a very decent amount of time. It has enough memory for a basic use and is able to add up to 32GB micro SD card. It has playstation store accessibility. It has OK range of picking up WiFi, and the Bluetooth is OK also.

A real miss!

First off, it seems to be a decent tablet at a decent price. Now, if you want to run ANY of the most popular android apps on this tablet then dont buy it, period! I would venture a guess that 90% of the most popular apps require you to have gps, the Slate 7 does not have gps which is a real disappointment . Had I did my research first before purchasing this I would have chosen to look elsewhere. Other than missing the GPS, it's a fine tablet for the money. I would have gladly paid a little more for this feature to be included. I also bought the case which is excellent, if you buy the Slate get the case too.

Glad I waited

Just purchased my HP Slate 7 a week ago after waiting to decided whether an Ipad 2 or other, all I have to say I am so glad I waited. I have never worked well with Mac products always Microsoft and Android products and this tablet was so easy to set up and start running with it. I can Sync with my new Windows 8 Dell computer. I don't have to rely on my ITunes account to retrieve from or fear that Im going to erase a file. Is just great! Thank you HP for a great product at a low cost!

Very Disappointed

I was so excited to get my first ever tablet. I already have a Kindle Fire HD, but it has limitations on the browser (it doesn't support certain software). When I got the Slate 7, I set it up and thought I'd try a few things that I use all the time, like Netflix (it works great) and Amazon video. It turns out the Slate doesn't support Microsoft Silverlight or Adobe Flash. Nor does it seem to support HD video. I also discovered how grainy the picture is. I love HP products and have been a loyal purchaser of desktops and laptops for years. As a matter of fact, when I purchased the Slate, I purchased a new desktop at the same time. I didn't research the Slate because HP has never disappointed me, but I see there's always a first time. I can't be more disappointed and I'm planning to quickly return it for a full refund.

unreliable product not for professionals

The Slate 7 failed during the first 21 days! It reset itself and erased all the materials that I had downloaded to it. It came without the necessary applications for office productivity that one could reasonably expect it to have: It does not have a file manager, a note taking application; it cannot install MS Office Readers, let alone the programs themselves, like Word, Excel, and Note One. It is basically a passive devise for reading downloaded books, not an interactive one for professionals.

this product is slow

processor is slow, the camera is not good at all. Its good if you really not looking for something spectacular. I wish it was more...... maybe if I got the larger tablet it would of been better... don't know, trial and error good luck with your purchase.. probably sending it back , you get what you pay for ...... PS I do love HP products all the time just not impressed with this one.

Handy and fun

Never had one, and was surprised at it's features. It's easy to use and stays charged for a long time. It does take what seems to be a long time to boot up....other then that it works perfectly.

Exactly what I expected!

This tablet is smart looking, easy to use, and perfect for those just wanting to surf the web, read their email, and play some games. A little on the small side, but that has its bonuses as it is easily portable in a pocketbook or backpack. For the $ cant beat it.

Adequate

The slate looks slick and is relatively lightweight. The price is good, but for a little more you could get a Kindle device that would likely outperform the slate. Its size does make it a great portable device, but for me, it probably will not be anything other than a glorified eBook. The battery life is less than stellar. Little more than 24 hours with 60% of that on standby. Keep the charger handy.

Haven't been able to get to them ...

I would like to get through the set-up process. I regret that wi-fi must be used to set up the Slate. I have wi-fi in my apartment but when it comes to the Slate the band is not strong enough to allow me to get into the set up. Everything else in my apartment using wi-fi works great! but not the Slate! I am very frustrated at this point.

Nice small tablet

Only thing I have a problem with is as in any new product purchaced today, no operational manual with it. Being I am not the most adept person with new products, a good users manual would be a great asset.

Super Tablet At A Super Price

I got the Kindle Fire when it first came out and I enjoyed it very much, but it was lacking in certain areas, so when I got the chance to get a really good deal on the HP Slate-7, I jumped at it. When it went from $169 to $139 and I had a $50 gift card from HP, I thought, why not give it a try. I am very glad I did. It is easy to set up, easy to learn, easy to add app’s and with the front and rear cameras, it was perfect. I have encountered no problems and the only things I have done to it, is to add a cover and a micro-SD card. I take it with me just about everywhere I go. I can check mail, take photos, surf the web and pretty much do whatever I need while out. Great tablet at a great price and the perfect tablet for back to school. I would recommend it, if you are looking to jump into the tablet market, but don’t wish to lay out a huge sum of money.

Great Device

This little tablet is extremely convenient and simple to use. It was a very easy set up and I've had it for about a month now and I don't really have anything bad to say about it. The slate 7 is great for reading books, listening to music, shopping, and surfing the web. The only not so great aspect is the camera, at various times it appears as though there is a dark setting or the colors seemed washed out. Also when typing the keyboard seems to lag. Overall this product is simply amazing my tablet came with great features, its easy to use, and since I am a student its very good for taking notes, and writing papers. An even better aspect is the product is very affordable and it ships fast so what more can you ask for. Good Job HP!

Not bad as a tablet.

Honestly,I brought it,because I didn't want to buy a Samsung tablet because of their price. Since I brought it,The Slate 7 haven't giving problem like every one else are talking about, but it lack of GPS,meaning it's not every app in the Android Market you'll be able to download, like Instagram,Foursquare,SoundCloud,Crackle and it doesn't play Flash videos on it's own browser nor on Google Chrome browser. I kind of regret to have, because it's not every app I can download and I love it because it fit perfectly in my pocket, I hope there's a software upgrade soon or later.

Great value for the price

Excellent tablet overall. Screen resolution could be higher - less grainy look. Performance is fine and audio is great. Sturdy construction but tablet a bit heavy to hold and carry. Suggest higher screen resolution and lighter weight for future product upgrades.

GOOD WITH STIPULATIONS

I LIKE THE TABLET, BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO RECEIVE OR SEND EMAIL. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING I KNOW, BUT IT STILL WON'T WORK. I HAVE TALKED TO HP TECH AND THAT DIDN'T HELP. I AM ABOUT READY TO RETUN THE TABLET.

Weak Speaker; display not great

I purchased this for my mother's birthday gift. I thought I did enough research; unfortunately it wasn't enough. Very disappointed in the speakers - i can't hear anything on the loudest volume. My sister has the kindle hd and her speakers boom out. Whether you have headphones on or not the volume is so low. I thought the beat feature would be great but it's not. Comparison is very poor for the Slate 7 vs Kindle hd. As well, the screen is not very clear - the kindle screen just pops out. They are both the same price. I'm thinking of returning it and getting my mom something else. I'm ashamed I got her something that is not comparable to the kindle like my sister who is silently laughing at me.

Great value tablet

Professional reviews tended to be neutral at best for the Slate, but I have been very pleased with it. This is my first android tablet I have used. The Slate serves as my back up to my 10 in. tablet and for travel. Although I only use it for mostly basic functions, I find it an excellent value for the price. The "knocks" on the tablet for screen pixel and battery life I find overblown. The battery life for Internet use at "half lighting" lasts far longer than the suggested 5 hour length.

Not Ready for Prime Time

This tablet has similar features to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 of which I own two. The front end interface is what drags this tablet down the Tab 2 Software interface is much friendlier. The Samsung allows you to download a bunch of good software from Samsung! I purchased this as an MP3 player to replace my 6 CD changer as a front end to my stereo receiver so the extra software is not an issue! This will perform well as music player and the recharging cable will match a docking station that allows the unit to stand up.

Even w/low price not competitive

HP recently dropped pricing on this tablet & I still don't think it is enough. The screen is sub standard when compared to other tablets like it in the market. Responsiveness is slow. My kids were not fans of it either. Thankfully didn't pay too much for it so hard to be surprised by its overall performance.

Excellent tablet for the price

By WSmith

This tablet is awesome for the price. It's the right size for everyday use and includes a microSD slot for additional memory and front an rear camera. I've already added a sandisk 32G card. My only comment is that it would be nice to have a 16G option, but it is a $170 tablet, so you get what you get. HP delivered a nice product here that is simple to use, very attractive, and cost effective. -w

Excellent product!

By GirlX

This is a great product. The clarity of the screen is exceptional. It came pre-loaded with a handful of pictures to use for wallpaper, as well as "live" wallpapers. Beats Audio is definitely a plus, the music sounds fantastic, the bass is clear and not distorted even when I turned it all the way up. It is super fast, definitely faster than my cell phone with Android Jellybean. The touch screen is very sensitive, even with the screen protector on it. I currently have an Android phone that cam...
