I purchased this HP Printer for around one year ago and I love it. It's perfect for home use. Inexpensive, FAST and reliable. I highly recommend it for home and a very small business!

I bought an HP Laser Jet 1005 to replace my long-lasting, much loved LaserJet 6L. I didn't like the 1005 because it didn't have a recycle button nor a slot for envelopes. I returned it and replaced it with the P1006which has the recycle button and the envelope slot. The printer is attractive ( silver and dark gray) and Boy is it fast! It's noisy too, but its speed and the quality of its printing make up for that.

This is a very nice printer. The shock is when I bought the first ink cartridge. It is about $65 which yields 1500 pages per the HP site which comes out to about 4.5 cents per sheet!!!!!! Wow. Lexmark laserjet print cost is just over 1 cent. If your interested, please let me know. I am getting rid of this printer because of the ink cost. Can't afford it.

this printer is super fast, prints quality, is a nice size and l got a great price at best buy HOWEVER, AND I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE, when you run out of paper during a print job, you have to shut down the computer entirely in order for the printer to recycle and restart your print job. had l know this beforehand, l would never have bought this printer. it's a subject for a Dilbert cartoon. save yourself endless frustration and avoid this problem child.

This is the pefect small laser printer for a family or even a small business. It is great for printing out black and white documents for legal purposes. I use it because if a prinout from an inkjet printer gets wet it usually smears, etc. laser printout is more permanent.

This printer is by far the very best - compact ,user friendly, economical to maintain. I wish the purchases were made earlier for my computer & printer needs. Thank you HP!

Printer will not print when you want it to. I have to contuniously unplug it from the system and wait, replug it in and maybe it will start and maybe it won't. I have had the printer replaced from the factory and will work for about 1month and it is back to same old self. With a new ink cartridge it will last maybe a week and then it is down again. I wouldn't advise you buying this product. I have had so much trouble with it.

I can not get this printer to work with Windows 7. The printer says it is Windows 7 compatible, but I have tried every method to download an updated driver. I question whether HP has updated the P1006 driver for Windows 7.

I have had many difficulties with this printer. We go through toner way too often for a laser printer. The printer keeps jamming the computer. We print one thing and then have to turn off the computer to print the next thing.

I've been using the P1006 for several months in the office. I print payroll checks (around 100 per week) and all my other documents on it and it does a wonderful job. It has great print quality and more importantly it is fast and never, and I do mean never, jams. A print cartridge seems to last forever. I'm buying one for my home office.

I have had this printer for six months and have been impressed with how simple and easy it is to use. Nothing fancy and If you don't need to print in color, this is perfect. Toner is a lot cheaper than ink. I have printed over 1,000 pages with the same cartridge. I rated this 5 stars because I think this is great for the price. Other writeups I have read indicate this should last for years...

My laptop is on its last leg but the new one I bought is worse - Vista! and who wants to pay for Windows 7 since I already bought Vista in January 09, and paid for WORD etc in Dec 08 only to have my computer crash - lost everything. Thus, I am keeping my laptop- but the CD DVD does not work. Sony is poor for CD DVD and sound - well known fact. I bought the HP laser - it works great - fantastic - its very fast and no problems except I cannot download the CD - thus I am at a total loss about how to operate this machine that continually goes offline and I have to jump through hoops to get the lastr to work.

Worst printer I have ever owned. My printer will not print envelopes unless I go through a laborious process of changing the properties and page setup. Of course, when I am ready to print my letter, I have to change back all the settings. HP service said that was how it was supposed to work. Later sent me an email with instructions to correct it, but it still does not work. If you need to print envelopes and letters. Don't buy it.

THE PRINTER PRINTS SLOPING DOWN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT.. i BOUGHT A NEW PRINTER AND FOUND OUT THAT IT DOESN'T PRINT STRAIGHT. THE LAST LETTER IS MUCH LOWER THAN THE FIRST LETTER IIN A LINE. THEY SEND ME A REPLACEMENT WHICH IS A REFURBISHED PRINTER SO I END UP BUYING A REFURBISHED PRINTER. i DON'T WANT TO COMPLAIN TOO MUCH BUT THE LADY IN THE TECH SUPPORT WAS VERY CONDESCENDING.THE REPLACEMENT HAD THE SAME RESULT. IS THERE A LASERJET PRINTER THAT PRINTS IN A STRAIGHT LINE?

I got this Printer last week, replacing a 1022 with a bad fusing unit. The Pro's, the quality of the print is great and the toner sticks to the page and not my clothes. Cons the paper tray is smaller, about 100 sheets so I am constantly filling the paper tray, it seems to pull a lot of double sheets, since I am looking to save trees and print a lot of double sided copies, I reprint a lot of double sided copies and am not saving trees, the lumberjacks who will remain employeed can thank me later. The speed seems slower than my old printer, even though it is supposed to be as fast. For features it is pretty bare bones, but it is only an entry level printer. It will do labels, envelopes and 2 sided copies. It is a good printer for the home at a low cost, however for my work application, I can print up to 150 documents daily it is probably too small, but my IT dept says that itis what we put on the desks. For me I wouldn't get another one and I'm off to my boss to disscuss a higher volume printer.

This little printer worked fine with the HP driver's limited functionality for printing with OS X 10.5. Now it's a paperweight because HP has not written a new driver for Snow Leopard. If you have or plan to upgrade, avoid the P1006 unless HP shows it has supplied a driver that works with Snow Leopard.

I bought this printer because I'd seen good reviews but it was not what I expected. Yes, it is compatible with Mac and PC but it is NOT a postscript printer so it is worthless for me. I don't know why HP can't make note of this on the product packaging or promotions; it is not that difficult to share information that is critical to many of us. I wasn't completely unhappy to discover that it wasn't suitable though, because in setting it up and testing it, I also was surprised at how noisy it was, because some reviews talked about it being quiet -- I wonder what they were comparing it to? I have an HP 1022 that is unfortunately discontinued because it is a much better printer than the P1006. I wish I could buy another 1022 for my office -- it has been a fantastic product: quiet, fast, small, inexpensive and postscript too. Bring it back, HP!

This is a great little machine, but it has one flaw that I've been unable to resolve. If it runs out of printer paper during printing, it'll complete the document, but that's where it ends. Before you can print anything else, you have to reboot your computer! Go figure. I've reinstalled the software, I've downloaded updated drivers, I've tried everything to resolve this to no avail. I get lots of prints between cartridges, so even though the toner is expensive (about $75), I go through reems and reems inbetween.

No one could ask for a better high-speed, production volume printer for this price. It is compact, fast, easy to use, easy to load supplies. I bought this printer to replace an HP Laser Jet 6L, which lasted ten years (until the rubber rollers wouldn't pull single sheets through the machine). I have had very good experiences with HP printers; can't say this about others.

I have purchased two laser printers in the last 18 years. The first one was HP IIP Plus. This one is still working and is great. I wanted something new with my new computer so purchased this printer. It is extremely fast, fits on my desk perfectly, half the size of my old one. I hope it lasts half as long as my first one and I will be very happy. I use this printer daily for transcription so it gets a workout.

This is an easy to use printer. Has a good software supporting it. Well worked in both single side and double side printing. The only thing make trouble for me is lack of "resume/go" button on the printer. there is only the cancel button on printer. Hence sometimes such as when printing double side, after turning the papers, you have to click on the resume button on software dialogue box resuming print on other side. However this printer as an economical one is valuable.

I work for the US Dept of Veterans Affairs. We use all HP laser jet printers. Recently Staples offered a $50 trade-in cash card and I bought the HP P1006. I is just plain excellent! Fast printing, excellent quality printing, and easy to use and to replace print cartridge.

I purchased the P1006 laserjet printer to replace my HP 1020 laserjet printer. I use this printer exclusively to print shipping labels. The HP 1020 worked like a champ for 3 years. However, right out of the box, the P1006 would not feed a piece of label paper. Same label paper that the HP 1020 fed flawlessly. HP support was good enough to replace the P1006 printer with a P1505 which feeds label paper just fine. The P1006 printer did feed regular paper, although a bit noisy.
