I am a Math and Go game teacher. I always need to teach in a small group (like 10-20 students.) I don't need high performance projector to show HD movie. What I need is a portable projector to show powerpoint, video clips and some photos. I need low purchase cost and low maintenance cost. This projector can match my requirements. The user manual says that the LED is 10,000 hours --- If I use it for 3 hours each day on average, it will be about 10 years. That's enough for me.

Very pleased with this unit. Its a bit smaller than I envisioned, which is great! Perfiect for displaying the image from my HP Mini - very clear picture. Washes out as projector moves further from wall, but when displaying a picture 4 or 5 feet in size - maybe 8 or 10 feet from a wall - it does well. When using it on my larger HP portable, the screen size was automatically adjusted to the pixels of the projector, which I didn't expect, but while the picture looked poor on the laptop, it looked great on the wall. The case was disappointing. Its big enough only for the projector and VGA cable, not the power chord or stand, So its pretty worthless. But the little tripod is nice.

This small portable projector is just perfect for my basic needs in a small classroom. Quickly attaches to my laptop and puts my screen up large enough for my entire class to view the desktop rather than crowding around me.

I purchased this projector based upon the previous reviews and after discussing my needs with the very helpful HP custmer service rep. It works perfectly for small groups set up with two or three tables deep. I do partially dim the lights at times: in the afternoon sun or when on slides that use smaller font for details or footnotes, etc. This is a very good buy, and it is so tiny and easy to cart around.

This is a very easy to use projector; it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how to use it. It's very well designed and very compact. I like the placement of the controls and the brightness is fantastic. The only gripe I have is that the included VGA cable falls (very) short of being realistic in length. Because of it's very short length, you have very little room to move the projector around and this can be problematic when you're trying to perform presentations.

I needed a very small projector to accompany my laptop on trips where I only carry on. The HP Notebook Companion Projector fit the bill exactly and provided excellent value for a small group presentation. It is easy to set up and use and travels well. Only a slight dimming of the lights allowed bright screen images. It was reassuring to know I had the tools with me and did not have to rely on others.

I have tried several projectors to carry with me as I do trainings in different locations. This is the first LED projector that I have tried that is bright enough to use in small group settings with almost normal lighting. It is also usable in larger rooms with fairly dark settings. It will do any size of projections. I don't understand why they say a size limit on the projector. It is super portable. Taking the power supply is a bigger pain than the projector. It comes with the tripod that makes it very managable in any setting. Video is CGA, and that can limit the quality, but it is so portable and useful that I just be careful to have resolution that works with CGA. I love the projector and would recommend it to anyone wanting a projector in a smaller group settings.

If you use a projector for presentations and travel to do so, this is the projector you have been waiting for. I have been toting a Casio XJ-S41BB projector and although it is very nice and does a great job it is still much larger and 3 times heavier than the HP Notebook Companion Projector. You give up some briteness but for individual or small group presentations, it is the cat's meow. Just turn the lights down a bit and it is great. I am very satisfied. Especially since the price is less than half that of the Casio and the bulb is purported to last much longer. It runs much cooler and the shut-down time is nil.

The HP WT431AA Notebook Projection Companion is compatible with HP Business and Consumer Notebook PCs and other notebooks with a VGA connection. This ultra-portable accessory is powerful and durable enough to serve as your primary projector when giving presentations or as a backup while on the road.
Boasting 858 x 600 SVGA native resolution and a maximum brightness of 100 lumens that won't leave you standing in the dark during your presentations, this handy notebook accessory projects bold and bright images that literally leap off the screen, even in moderate ambient light. And with an LED light source that offers up to 10,000 hours - up to five years - of usage life, your presentations can light up the room for years to come. As for image size, don't let the projector's small size fool you - from a distance of 8.5 feet, it can project an image up to 60 inches. And with a convenient threaded hole on the bottom and expandable tripod, you can position the projector to optimize viewing.
