Really wish I would not have bought it!!

Almost all prints made by this printer have various colored spots on them. I assume that they are due to dust, BUT with no real way to keep it "clean" it is not preventable. I bought it to make on-site prints to sell to customers, but I can't sell something that looks bad.

This is a great printer

This is my first dye-sub printer, paper and ink together, fast print, it's something to see an 8x10 from a small image, it makes 4 passes, the last is the protective stuff that goes on top, also got an extra 50 prints free. And when you start framing them, you start looking for more to enlarge and frame, for [$] you can't go wrong, you won't regret it. Thanks Kodak...The photo attached looks like a photo, but when you create an 8x10, it comes alive, like you're standing there taking the picture.

Print like a PRO!

Was a film purist for years. Then I saw the quality of the KODAK dye-sub printers. Amazing! Combined with a high quality, high megapixel camera, you can print professional quality- quick!

Only 1 drawback....kinda

It works great. As stated above, I was a little disappointed with the softness. I have a 4x6 Sony Dye sub that is exceedingly sharp. For the price [...] you can't go wrong to get 8x10 prints.I can't say how durable it is yet, I've only recently purchased. It seems like a good machine though.

Work Great for In Studio Photos

I used this printer to print one hour prom photos this year. I had great luck with it and was able to offer great prints right away. I do not care for the matte finish.

Very happy

Pros: Excellent print quality. Reasonably fast printing. Cons: Cannot change between matte and glossy without changing ribbon. Limited print sizes. Noise is annoying.

Great Printer!

As a PRCA Arena Rodeo Photographer, my summers are spent living out of a travel trailer or on the road to the next rodeo. That of course means my trailer is also my office. I was looking for a printer that gave me Professional Quality and extremely durable prints and the Kodak 1400 was a great choice. I don't have the room to carry a larger printer, and most of my sales (from the road) are no bigger than an 8x12. I couldn't ask for anything better.

A photographers best friend

I prefer dye sub printers. I have a fuji 3500 printer and I love the prints from that printer but the printer is a sensative headache. It gives me three fabulous prints one minute then I am working on the printer for the next two hours trying to get another print. But this Kodak 1400? It prints what ever I send to it. Totally trouble free. Beautiful, vivid prints. My setup is caliabrated so what I see on my monitor is what I get from this terrific printer. I can send it package prints from Photoshop and give them to my customers without worry. I plan to get another for my studio. I wish Kodak would make one that goes up to 11x14. That would make my day

Problems

I bought this printer to replace my Olympus P-400. I'm having problems with the paper feeding in and with the printer drivers for Windows XP. I'll have to send mine back to Kodak to be repaired.

Great photos, but the pickup roller

As a whole a great product, but dissapointed in the paper pick roller, after about 6 months and 45 prints. The pickup roller fails to pickup the blank sheets from the tray.

Excellent dye sub for the price.

Easy to install and use, never worry about ink head get clogged. Not waste ink for cleanning head. Excellent color tone. Builting lamination protects the prints from dirty finger prints which can be wiped off easily. The con is limited print size. Transport mechanism is not very reliable, may need help to feed paper in sometime. Instruction for installation and loading printer kit is not clearly easy to follow.

Great Workhorse

I am sooooo sick of ink jet printers. The past 6 years has been chock full of clogged nozzles, returns to manufacturer, poor print quality... I don't even know how ___________ stays in business to be honest. The Kodak 1400 is great if you need quality prints quickly. The printer is a total horse, is perfectly consistent and outputs with quality near a professional lab. I love it.

Worth the Price, Great Photos

With the $100 rebate this printer is a good deal. Paper is somewhat pricey without the 2 for 1 offer. If you can calibrate this printer to your computer screen you will get very good results. As good as the 1-Hour Drug Store prints, which in some cases come from a similar Kodak Printer.

Very affordable

Price per print is still high. But the price of the printer makes it affordable. It would be nice if it is a little faster.

I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET IT.....BUT

We are a small photography studio and depend heavily on quality in house prints. [...]. I used it moderately (100prints)over 9 months then had problems with the film advancing and not printing. I called Kodak and they couldn't correct the problem over the phone. They had to send an advance replacement. It arrived within a day but was a problem in itself. The unit had a big scratch on top, when I lifted it out their was a part rattling around inside. I tried installing it anyway, but it did not work. I called Kodak and they walked me through some tests and determined it also was a failure. They expedited another unit over night. When I first installed this unit the first five pictures had scratch lines all over them. I then cleaned all the rollers meticulously a number of times and this corrected the problem. This should have been done by Kodak before they sent it out.Kodak's live support reps were extremely helpful and took their time working with me. However I question the techs that "refurbished" the advance replacement units.I would still highly recommend this unit as the prints and fixed costs are terrific.
