About Ilford

ILFORD 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL is a medium speed, black and white film, ideal for pictorial and fine art photography. The professional version of 100 DELTA, in 35mm, can be processed in a wide variety of developers. It is also less sensitive to changes in development, offering greater process control. When given standard development it has a speed rating of ISO 100/21° to daylight. Prints made from 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL film exposed at EI 100/21 have extremely fine grain and outstanding sharp-ness. In fact, in the hands of a skilled specialist, who will pay careful attention to exposure and processing, prints from 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL negatives can be exceptional. 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL though, is not just for specialists and is more than an ISO 100/21° film. Its exposure latitude allows good quality results to be obtained over the exposure range EI 50/18 to EI 200/24. 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL is compatible with all major processing systems and can be processed in all popular developers.

ILFORD 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL is the world's sharpest ISO 100 speed black-and-white camera film. This exceptional film uses the unique ILFORD core-shell crystal technology offering the best image quality of any "new-technology" film. 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL's emulsion allows levels of enlargement never before possible without loss of fine detail. Its wide tonal range and superior exposure-latitude helps capture images that can easily be reproduced on today's black-and-white papers, without the need for extreme print manipulation. Ideal for studio, fashion, portrait or fine art photography, ILFORD 100 DELTA PROFESSIONAL gives professional photographers the means to express their vision with crystal clarity.

Simply great.

Nothing to complain about. I've tried many brands and film types. I always come back to this (or the Delta 400 if I need more speed). I shoot it at ISO 80 when I can and the results are consistent and great.

Good Low ISO BW Film

By

from Henderson, KY  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is the low ISO film I started with when I first started BW photography. Lovely grain, easy to develop.

A reasonable choice for B/W film

Not a bad choice but there are other manufacturers of film that have a better product.

Amazing 100 speed film

By

from Wisconsin  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Not as versatile as 400 speed film but PERFECT when shooting for detail. As the previous reviewer noted, this is AMAZINGLY sharp and will definitely show any user errors or lens issues.

Amazing sharpness!

By

from Bozeman, MT  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is the first "delta"-type B&W film I have used, previously sticking to traditional emulsions like Tri-X and HP5 Plus. I tried it out because I was looking for an extremely sharp film to compare some lenses. All I can say is "Wow!" - this stuff showed levels of detail in my test targets (topographic maps taped to a wall) that I never expected to see (and yes, if there is something amiss with your lenses, this film will show it). I had it professionally processed and scanned at very high resolution (16Mp) for this purpose so I can't comment on the darkroom chemistry side of things. I liked the grain structure, though for general-purpose use I would probably go with the ISO 400 version for greater versatility. The combination of biting sharpness and detail with good tonality would probably make it a good choice for landscapes.
