I bought this tripod because I wanted the ability to take macro shots close to the ground, this tripod does that and more. I paired it with a Vanguard SBH-300 which is a nice combination for the price. I usually use it with just the first set of legs extended, where it is rock solid. I am pretty picky about sharpness and do notice that unless I use Mirror Lock Up I get a slight decrease in sharpness at longer focal lengths when all the legs are fully extended. The included shoulder strap works well, and I have no complaints at all. I am very comfortable tramping a mile or two with this over my shoulder to get the shot. It is a little heavy for full out hiking though and I would not recommend it for that. Short of going full gonzo for a carbon fiber $600+ pro tripod I doubt I could do better.
