I've owned several monopods over the years but most were relatively heavy when compared to this one, and were cumbersome to carry around when not in use because of their length. I have used the Induro monopod several times now and it works great. Lightweight, sturdy and easy to carry on your belt. The small case that comes with it is probably the only shortcoming that I can see. It's adequate, but I built a holster that allows easier access when carried on my belt, and problem solved. A great monopod for the money!

For travel I prefer the Gitzo because it's more compact.

Is bigger than the Gitzo, but cheaper, If it was for traveling the then the Gitzo is better

I travelled and I couldn't fit a tripod. This is compact and light. Easy to handle and supported a gimbal head with camera and 80-400 lens.
