Shopper : Are monopods strong enough to be used as hiking sticks as well?EVAN R : No. Get a pair of trekking poles.ROY L : I would not recommend it as a hiking stick. If you should take a hard hit there goes your investment. Hiking sticks are far les expensive to replace.LISA C : I've never used my monopod as a hiking stick. But, the camera-lens combo I have is pretty heavy and unwieldy. The monopod works great for that. Plus, it is really easy to expand or contract. I wold have no problem using it for a hiking stick.CONNIE S : It's pretty strong. I use it with a Nikon and a heavy lens 80-200 and also lean on it. I do love it - it's compact yet very durable.
