This is the first high quality ballhead that I have used. Always been trying to save money with cheaper heads. What a mistake!!!! Spend your money on a good ballhead. I have a Canon Mark III with a Canon 100-400 L lens and 1.4 Canon teleconverter. This is heavy gear. With the manual drag control set correctly I don't have to tighten the main knob and the camera doesn't move. But I can still move the camera around. GREAT!!! The dovetail quick release plate slides into the head smoothly and has a safety button so your gear can't slide out of the head by accident.
