When I buy, last NIKON L-840 RED, in the "MACRO-MICRO" tech store in my city, I was assured that I' bought average photo camera, but at the first photography - love is in the air! The NIKON L840, with a careful MANUAL treatment (not only, and always AUTO-matic action!), is more than just a - COOLPIX! His ZOOM impress me much, and ability to shot MACRO photography at HQ, with a built in 16th megapixels, at HQ resolution.Also he is perfect for family shots in a daylight, sunshine, and with a minimum postprocessing in the Photoshop! Just only a signature! Buit in ND FILTERS,has manual possibilities to do Exposure Values, minus or plus, VIVID COLOURS of yours shots (but YOU must trigger the buttons up and down!!), and Tonality in the COLD or WARM colours, depends on what you are shoting.In the store told me that is that model "not good for the NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY", but thats NOT THRUE! I shot excellent night photography at the summer in the city of SPLIT(in Dalmatia/Croatia/in Europe).I still use them. The BEST IS FOR SOTING PORTRAITS.Has a built in DREAMY SOFT photography sensor, in the end softness,and crisp photography buyed me.

Great Camera. Very easy to use. I like it because as a beginner photographer I can operate the camera without constantly checking the manual. Also I like way it takes pictures. Great focus and clarity.

I bought this last minute before Christmas in 2015 and it is also my first "really nice" camera since 35mm film was still a thing (I have had digital cameras just you basic little 1" thick point and click, idiot proof things), and I have to say that it has been wonderful. Even a year later I am still learning how to use some of the settings (there are a lot of shot settings after all) and I thoroughly enjoy using it every single time I pick it up. It is easy to use when it comes to switching between shot settings and it takes amazing photos of sun rises and sun sets. This has been a great choice for myself, and I am definitely the epitome of an amateur and am not sure if I think I will be pursuing a future in photography, but if I ever did, this would have been the perfect choice for a first camera. It is a gateway into learning to use different shot settings, different light settings, distance and closeness, among other aspects and I am soooooo incredibly glad I bought it.

Totally dissatisfied. Slow focus. Sports setting images are blurry. Settings difficult to manipulate. Never use any more. Wish I could go back and make a different choice.

I mostly use my camera to photograph birds in the field. My former camera broke and I didn't have the money to replace it with a camera I wanted. I bought this one refurbished as the price was one I could handle until I had the money to get a camera I really wanted. I've never bought a camera without a viewfinder, but all those with viewfinders and good optical zooms were still too expensive, even refurbished. So now I've learned never to buy a camera without a viewfinder! This one is close to useless for photographing birds. In bright light it's close to impossible to even see the screen, many of the shots come out blurry. However it works well indoors, and for closeups - my grandkids, ducks in a nearby pond, etc. It's attractive and I have gotten compliments on it. It does about 60% of what i need so I'll give it three stars. One ergonomic issue I have is the button to review photos. It's right where my thumb lands naturally when I hold up the camera to take a shot, so I'm constantly hitting the review button when I'm trying to snap a bird, and by the time I get it reset again the bird has usually flown away. But again, the price is good for a refurbished model, and if you don't demand too much of it, and use it primarily indoors and not in bright sunlight, it may be worth it.

I'm the PIO of a fire department in north central West Virginia. In addition to public relations duties, I am also the department's fire ground photographer. The Nikon L840 by far exceeds my expectations for a mid-range price camera. Frequently, various TV media have used video snips from some of our fire scenes that were cleared by the department for release. I can definitely recommend this camera w/o reservation.

Had no idea this camera would do everything it does. It is a Nikon L840 and takes excellent quality pictures. Really like the WI capabilities. I can turn on the WI and download pics directly to my camera camera to my iPad. Love the panaroramic capabilities. Best camera I've bought in a long long time .

I was a little nervous about buying a refurbished camera, but when I read that factory refurbished cameras are put through more stringent checks than brand new cameras, I decided to take the chance. I haven't used it very much yet, but so far it seems to work just fine, takes great pictures, and was in mint condition (not all scratched up). What I saved on the camera left enough in my budget to buy an extensive package of accessories, and still beat the price on most other web sites. It didn't include a hard copy of the owner's manual, but that's available online.

Seemed to have a little trouble focusing at times (I have it set for just one center spot at this time), especially if you zoom too much or there isn't sufficient light. The camera performs as well as it's basically supposed to. I took a bunch of test shots (I didn't try the video yet).I tried the macro feature and would give that 5 stars. I also tried the Easy-Panorama feature which worked great. I love the feel of the grip.

This camera takes really nice shots and responds fast when High Speed memory is used. I read that some people talked about a delay but that has to do with memory speed. I like the camera very much but had to get from another seller since the one I got here did not work.

This is a good camera for the price. Bought for a trip to New England foliage tour. With my limited use before hand of this camera I'll just get to the pro's and cons discovered. Pro's: Good vibration control on zoom. If you can manage to reduce movement you can get a pretty decent shot of far off objects with good detail with little to no blur (depends on how much coffee you drank prior, lol). There's really no need for the flash in most low light conditions, I took some shots of the moon over the ocean and the detail of the moons reflection in the water is spectacular. Aim and shoot readiness, the basic settings will work in most conditions so don't need to be a pro camera buff to get a nice shot. Good red-eye reduction too. Menus easy to navigate, very intuitive. Haven't used the wifi all that much but it recognizes my router and I can connect to it. Grip is perfect, can hold camera easily and comfortably while shooting. Cons: Hazy pictures in overcast conditions. Changed white balance to cloudy day but it didn't improve much, just a little brighter.. While the vibration control is good forget about shots taken from a car, not that I expect close up images to be clear but far off objects also blurry. Even the tiniest bit of glare off a glass surface is readily noticeable. I'm not a camera pro and I didn't get to use this one much before traveling so learned on the go but still nothing I checked out in the menus offered anything I could use to correct this like "action-mode" found on other similar cameras. Batteries go from 100% to near dead. I carry extras but needed to change batteries when I didn't think I had to. Audio not very good. Microphones easily distorted by even a little higher ambient noise rising up in background. Overall not a bad camera for the price. Did the job pretty much, got some very nice shots of Fall color but if I were to do it again I might move up to a better camera.

My journey with cameras began with a Canon Photura, I loved that camera. After years of use, it died. I had it repaired but it was never the same. Then i got a Vivitar, no comparison. I didn't find much enjoyment in that camera. I took it on vacation the camera stayed hot from the batteries. I haven't used it since.Then I got a FinePix S5200. I really like the camera but something was missing. Then I bought the Nikon CoolPix L840. It's everything I want in a camera. Such vibrant and sharp pictures. I would really like to expand on my hobby, My next camera will in the same line as my Nikon CoolPix L840 but with interchangeable lenses. Thank you for this opportunity of giving my review on my camera experience.

I had a Nikon L-830 and enjoyed it very much. I replaced it the L-840 and it does a great job as well. The pictures are super crisp and the macro works great. I mainly use macro and landscape.

Nice point and shoot, nice zoom, no viewfinder just the screen, is a refurbished camera, found same unit for ($) less, did include free shipping but shipment was transferred from UPS to the post office which delayed arrival. UPS wanted 3.50 extra to avoid the post office. Always a surprise.

I have not given a chance to operate the camera. It looks new. The item came within 2 days of ordering. The operating disc was missing, but a download was available, Iit messed up my printer by repeated printing.

This camera is so good. It is the best camera I have used even beating My Nikon D5200 which I also thing is great. I recommend this product tk even serious photographers who don't want to break their bank.
