The very first time I used this camera underwater it failed. It had barely touched the water when it filled up with water. I am a photographer and have other underwater cameras with no problems. Even though the only time this camera was opened, was to charge the battery and load the SD card, I checked to make sure it was clean and closed properly. After the failure I noticed that the access door does move from lett to right, thus not sealing well. When I returned home to check my warranty, I was surprised and hugely disappointed to find out the Nikon sells an underwater camera that is not covered for water damage. I am 100% certain that I will not buy Nikon again, nor will I recommend their products.

My wife bought a Coolpix S33 from The Source and took it with her to Cuba. On the first use it collected water inside and shut down, only got a couple of pictures. I took it back to the Source, who told me that it was not an underwater camera and I was out of luck. Well, on the box it says it's good to 33ft, and was never below 10, so what now? We have a useless camera which has been a great disappointment. I don't want a repair or replacement, I want my $$$$$$$ back. Don't ever buy one, JUNK!

Boa câmera. Fácil de usar. Qualidade das fotos muito boa. Foi a que me salvou na última viagem, pois a minha outra câmera Nikon apresentou um problema. Se não fosse essa pequenina...

I bought this camera for my daughter a year ago. It worked well until we tried to use it under water for the first time. Now it will randomly turn itself on. Even while just sitting in the drawer. This drains the battery of course. Then is never ready to use. Very disappointed with this product. Tried to contact Nikon support to no avail. Will not recommend this or their products to friends.

Bought camera for vacation, used it everywhere, under water and on land, pictures and video. Video quality is great and pictures are wonderful. small, light, and rugged, no problems. not sure of battery life because it never ran down! took lots of videos and pictures and never saw battery indicator change!

I purchased this camera as I needed an underwater camera for an upcoming snorkeling excursion on our Cruise on the Norwegian Dawn a few weeks ago. Got a great deal on here, getting the camera about the same price everyone else had it for, but I got a deal including the sd card, case, cleaning kit, and lcd screen protector for the same price. I made an unboxing & review video showing sample pictures and video here: https://youtu.be/CWeJnalILHo

I bought this camera for my 5 year old budding photographer. She loves it - easy to use with individual buttons instead of a complex menu to wheel through to delete photos etc. Haven't tested the waterproof feature but will plan to in nicer weather. Pictures are as expected for the money spent - great camera for a starter or just a handy second camera with some rugged features. I'd buy it again.

I what does camera for my six-year-old grandson for Christmas. It came with the added bundle which was great and arrived not too long after Christmas. Though he is only six, he has learned to work a lot of the functions and he absolutely loves it and carries it around with him everywhere.

Haven't used it much but photos are clear and sharp. It's been too cold to check it's waterproofing. Good value. Camera. AG in the bundle is larger than necessary for this slim camera. Limited zoom, I would have liked a bit more zoom.

It has not been underwater. After charging, it will not power on, The light on the power button comes on then goes off. Any suggestions?? Would not recommend at this point but if there is an easy fix, it looks like a good camera. I saw poor ratings on a previous site. Mainly due to water problems. This camera is straight out of the box.

camera is very fine, and the package was very useful. In fact it was more extensive than described. There was a Nikon package, together with an SD card, and a useful protective bag with a wrist. Shipment arrived, nicely packed and in good time.

We purchased this camera for our 13 year old Granddaughter for Christmas. This is her first real digital and we thought that it being water proof and crash proof up to 6 feet were great extra features not to mention she will be able to learn lots of new techniques with this camera.

I bought this camera for a trip to Bermuda. On the first day I took it out in the water, it was completely sealed and ready to go, but after about 10minutes the camera died. When I returned from my trip I sent it in to be looked at but they said they could not fix it due to the extensive liquid damage. How can a waterproof camera have extensive liquid damage?? Bottom line I would not recommend this product.

Easy to use camera. Pictures are of good quality in and out of the water. Need to be careful that no water is dripping on the focus lens otherwise the focus can't work properly, but that's true for all cameras. Bought it last summer and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I am very disapointed in the camera, used it once underwater...broken, not one photo taken with camera, got the camera in January 2016...had to buy another camera on my trip. I have a bigger camera, but didnt bring it on my trip, so Nikon...come on.. no warranty under water when youre snorkeling..really

Bought this to take to Mexico so I could take underwater pictures. Charged the battery clear full before leaving and took pictures one day and the battery is dead and would not charge. So much for my Mexico pictures.

Not only did this camera break the first time it was used in water, but warranty doesn't cover it as there was "sand damage" on the camera. If you market these to be used as family cameras, and then a child wants to take its first under water picture in the ocean, shouldn't the camera not break from the sand that just happens to float in the water? My husband and have bought a lot of Nikon camera equipment over the years for both private and professional use, but I am very disappointed in this. I had read the reviews before, but somehow gave it a shot anyway. Don't do the same. This is my first time deliberately logging on to write an unsolicited review of a product, we are that upset.

I bought this for my Scouter grandson who takes photos in dusty and wet situations. He tried it out in the pool today and it gives excellent results, especially underwater. Autofocus is great. As with my high end Nikon DSLRs, transfer of photos using Nikon ViewNX-i was straightforward as I expected using the supplied USB cable.

I bought this camera before my honeymoon last year. I was skeptical because I had never owned a waterproof camera and wasn't about to ruin memories from my honeymoon by solely relying on it so I brought a backup camera just in case. Now, I never used my backup camera and this camera was awesome. My husband and I did a buggy excursion driving 45 mph and the pictures were perfectly clear and great quality. We went under a waterfall with this camera and no fog and no loss of pictures. We came home and enlarged pictures with no graininess or blur. This camera replaced my other compact camera and I have suggested it to many friends. We just got back from an anniversary cruise and this camera went to stingray city and snorkeling with us - and no problems! Now, I'm not a professional photographer and I'm sure that some may say the photos are subpar, but for someone who wants to capture above and below water experiences on an acceptable level I highly suggest this camera. That being said, very few cons... Most of which are user error. Make sure you put the camera back on auto for aim and shoot photos (macro won't take great portraits). Things like that. And, in the hundreds of pictures I've taken with this camera I can say I have only "lost" one to camera malfunction and in my opinion I don't think that's enough to poorly rate this product. I plan to buy this camera for my sister for her honeymoon trip so she can create lasting memories as well.

I've been a longtime Nikon customer having purchased many SLP/DSLR cameras as well as point and shoot from them and this camera is not up to the standards of the Nikon brand. I purchased it for pool and beach outings for the kids but 30-40% of photos come out blurry with what appears to be a poor quality autofocus feature. The video is pixelated and unfit for creating memorable videos for posting on YouTube or displaying on the family TV. I found myself using my iPhone instead of this camera as the photo and video quality of the phone camera is far superior. Put the money you would spend on this camera on another brand or higher end point and shoot. I would rate the photo quality of this camera only slightly better than that of a disposable digital camera.
