Solid and flexible camera

I use the D300s for shooting sports events at the school I teach at as well as racing action at a local road course (VIR). It has also proven to be a very capable nature and wildlife shooter. I also shoot with a D700 and the similarities between the two camera make it very easy to switch bodies. A primary reason I got the D300s was the benefit of turning my 70-200 2.8 into a 105-300. I really didn't need the video feature but figure it may come in handy at some point. I previously owned a D200 and really liked that cameras build and this camera is very much like it. All and all, a very functional and solid camera.

Looks and functions as new.

I use this camera daily. Other than having the sensor routinely cleaned and charging the batteries (I use a winder) the camera has performed without incident.

Nikon D300S

It's ideal for HDR. Bracketing is easy using the Fn Button in its default setting. Turn it on and off on the fly, as needed. The camera with a zoom lens can tend to be heavy for walking around, but it has many features that make the weight tolerable. This is a great camera.

"I would buy this product again"

I had a D-200 and love it. Wow the D-300s is a great step up. My photos just keep getting better and better.

Best yet

This is my third Nikon DSLR. I was an early adopter and have owned (and still own) a D50 and a D90. This is a great leap forward from those bodies. It is extremely well constructed. The control layout is the best of any camera I've ever used. The out focus is far superior to any camera I've ever owned. It is fast, accurate and uncanny in its ability to find the subject. It is a bit heavy (which I like most of the time) but with a heavy lens like the AF-S 16-35mm f/4 ED that I often shoot, it can really weigh you down on a long day. As it only has M,A,P & S modes, it is not for the beginner or casual shooter. But for me, it is perfect.

Solid camera

This is a solid camera. Great as a backup to a D700 and great semi pro camera for solid performance and image quality.

Best Nikon I Ever Owned

This is the third Nikon DSLR for me and by far the best. I can't say enough about this camera. I love it. I will say it's not for entry level photographers though. But it is absolutely perfect for both professionals and serious amateurs. It is built like a tank and is consequently a bit heavy. If that bother you, look elsewhere. For me, it's a plus is it adds a bit of stability to my handheld shooting.

Awesome camera

I use the D-300s almost every day. It was purchased as an upgrade for a Nikon D-80. I needed the higher shutter speeds and the larger LCD. The programed settings are fantastic, since I shoot mostly Landscapes and wildlife. It is a bit heavy with a 300 MM lens attached, but the quality of the images more than overcomes the weight. If you want a superb and reasonably priced camera, this is it.

Fantastic camera at an amazing price

This camera came boxed from Nikon as was completely like new. I checked the shutter count in the exif data and it had hardly been used. I figure I saved almost $700. What a fantastic value. I would recommend this and any factory refurbished equipment from Nikon and Adorama.

Great replacement for my ailing D90

I got the D300S as a replacement for a worn out D90. I expected a bit better camera but I am delighted to say that this is a MUCH BETTER camera. I like the size, the easy to access (and learn) controls, the very sturdy construction and the really wonderful, no nonsense, shooting modes. I couldn't be happier with this camera.

Great Camera

This is my first try at a still/video camera. I already own a D-300 refurb and am very happy with it. I still haven't tried the video aspect, but the still pics are just as good as the D-300 I own. Great camera, great price.

Fabulious piece of photo equipment.

I've moved up from a few years of using a D60. Mostly because of the 8 FPS ( I have the optional battery pack ) of the D300s and Live View. I have not been disappointed with the D300s. The D60 when used in manual mode it is not as easy to setup as the D300s. I pretty much use manual all the time. One suggestion I would prescribe people use is the Custom menus. This is a massive time saver. This camera has a great feel in your hand, all though the camera total weight with battery pack is about 4.5 lbs. So yes it's heavy.

Can't tell the difference

An excellent camera. If it came in the gold box I'd have never known it was a refurb. Have had the camera almost 6 months now without a single problem. Video is no big deal, a real video camera is better than any DSLR, but the faster frame rate, virtual horizon, dedicated info button and dual card slots along with Nikon color and high ISO performance make it a bargain. A little large for travel so I use a D40x for that. I love the camera and highly recommend it.

The Best DX you can buy

The one I've got had only 4 shutter actuation. Looks like it's been reset by NIKON. (May be the shutter mechanism was replaced or it is just reset on all refurbished) Image count wasn't reset and my first was at 6,952. Mine just looks like new. No scratches at all. The only thing I wish was better is video. This is the best DX camera you can buy but you have to learn it's limitations. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners.

My New Child!

This camera is my newborn child and I love it so much. ;) It's heavier than the D60, but not a problem. For instance, I was on a 4 hour shoot and never did I experience any fatigue from the weight. My favorite aspects of the D300s are all the features this camera has, high ISO noise control, dual memory card slots, how the body feels in my hands, etc, etc. Moreover, all the focus points make composing the shot very easy. The only "negative" thing I can say about this camera is its video capabilities. Well, frankly speaking, it's a little behind par (*cough* Canon....), but for me, video is only an added benefit. I didn't purchase the D300s because I needed a video camera. Oh, BTW, I only purchased the body and it was Nikon refurbished. ;) I use this pretty much exclusively with my 50mm 1.4G AF-S lens.
