I purchased this refurbished kit a couple of years ago and don't regret it at all. It really was just like new when I got it. It included the battery charger and the users manual. I also bought a Nikon refurbished zoom lens and it was perfect too. I'm glad I chose to save the money and buy the Nikon refurbished kit instead of new. The D40 is truly a great camera for the money, new or refurbished.

I have no issues at all with the camera or lens and could never tell it was refurbished (except for the plain box it came in). I have no qualms about purchasing items refurbished by the manufacturer - I look at it as a second tier of quality control by Nikon. Great camera! I have no plans or need for another one, unless this one just clunks out. Awesome for a first dslr!GARRETT M : It comes with everything you would get in the new kit from Nikon. It definitely includes a charger, and the spare battery and bag that Adorama includes are still working well for me. I honestly don't remember if there was a manual, I tend not to use such things...all you need to know about the D40 is on Ken Rockwell's site, he has a great rundown of all the features and full analysis of all the menu options, with recommendations. Adorama's not letting me paste a link here, so just search for Ken Rockwell D40.
I bought mine refurbished and cannot tell any difference from a brand new camera, either in performance or appearance. The D40 won't give you the amazing low-light no-flash performance or high resolution of the newest cameras, but still stands up well for a wide range of uses. The body is small, and if you add a short prime lens it will practically disappear for great candid shots.ARTHUR U : 1,yes2.excellent.....they stand behind product,,,,excellent service if problem,,,I had lens problem with my new D40,,,they fixed and gave extended warranty.
