Questions & Answers

george b : what &how do u adjust a d5100 to use the newer en-el14 battery?JOHN D : It should just slide in.
Shopper : how long does this battery last?ANDREW P : Have had no issues with this battery. Not sure of exact time to recharge, but it is a reasonable amount and is several hundred photos.ELOY N : I am not sure if your are asking, how long between charges or lifetime. I always carry a spare battery. I find that once the indicator on the camera gets to about half charged, the battery capacity fades very quickly and I need to be ready to change to a fully charged one. For infrequent usage, the charge lasts for weeks. For end of life, neither battery has failed as yet. Hope this helps.ANA M : Sorry, i don't know... gave camera as gift to a friend.TERRY H : I get about 300 shots per charge. More if I remember to turn the camera off for extended periods. I shoot lots of sports so I keep it on a long time. The off-brand batteries don't work at all in my camera, so make sure you buy Nikon.KEVIN M : I routinely get 700 shots and have never run it all the way down to dead. I shoot a D5100. As far as dormant time I have 2 batteries. The one not in use lives in a drawer after I charge it and will still be "all green" weeks laterBRUCE S : In the D5100 that my wife has, this battery is rated for over 600 shots, in real life, she has never taken over 200 shots in one day. I have used Nikon cameras for the last ten years and have found that their batteries exceed their rated performance. I have yet to have a Nikon battery wear out or fail to hold a charge.
LINDA C : Can you charge a battery if it is half way charged?LAVERN B : SureJOHN A : Yes, no problem.LINDA C : Thanks, that was the answer I was hoping for!!KATHERINE M : This battery can be charged from any amount of battery loss indicated on the camera. This is for my husband's camera which only has two batteries. When we are on vacation and shooting a lot the batteries get charged every night no matter how much charge is left in them. It is not necessary to let them discharge totally before recharging.EARL B : Yes you can charge the battery when it is at any level but the best charge occurs when it is almost empty.LINDA C : Will it harm the original length of the battery?EARL B : Yes you can charge the battery when it is at any charge level but the best charge occurs when you start the charge when the battery is near empty.DONALD H : I'm sure you can, shouldn't hurt a thing....at least it has never been a problem for me. I always top of my batteries if I'm going out to shoot away from home.JACK Y : Yes, the charger will charge a partially depleted battery.

Does a reasonable job

I use this battery in the D5200 and I suppose that I have no real complaints except if I'm shooting in NEF with 24mp, the juice runs faster than milk and bread at the supermarket before a big storm. I would think if Nikon was going to build a camera so powerful, they build a battery capable of handling the work for a reasonable time.

Not such a good Battery

Only at this battery in my DSLR for a month and I'd have to tell you that my experience with the EN-EL14 Battery is not a good one. The power for the battery only last about an 1 and 10 minutes hour with continuous use without the LCD screen on but with the LCD screen on and preview your photos, it an 30-45 minute in usage. That's not good at all specially when you have cellphone with better battery technology. Another problem is that the battery will take forever to make a full charge and will go on for hours. The LED on the charger will just blink and blink. Nikon should really work on improving the battery features for the camera. " WAIT, yes I even went out the purchase a battery/GRIP with two batteries and still the results are more usage is 2 hours or little more but not no more than 150 minutes of usages. I do love Nikon but battery improvement is a must

Excellent Battery

Battery lasts a long time before re-charging. I took about 800 photos before re-charging was needed, and I shot photos at settings that drain the battery. If you shoot at settings that don't drain the battery as much, then you could probably go over 800 shots before re-charging the battery.

better than a brand I bought to replace

The 2 replacements brand I bought were supposed to make 200 more pictures, but it did not and one of them will not completely charge.

NIKON Battery for D3200 DSLR

Used as on of the backup batteries for our NIKON D3200 DSLR. My daughter is studying to be a cinema photographer and does side work as an event photographer. It is important to aways have freshly charged batteries and the Nikon Batteries last for quite some time. She keeps at least 4 Batts fully charged when working.

Nikon Coolpix 7800 Li-Ion battery

Exact Nikon battery. These last many shots but having one extra battery just in case is truly worth the modest cost of the extra battery.

Can't Miss with OEM

I know it's more expensive than the generics, but it's a NIKON! Original equipment for my camera... Works great. And you can't beat Adorama pricing.

Works fine

I was nervous about getting a non Nikon battery for my D32oo because all of them had substantial non reading issues in their reviews. So, I found this in the refurb aisle. Cheaper than the no names and works perfectly.

THE Nikon battery

The battery is great, the price is inflated. After reading a good number of negative reviews of various off brand replacements for the EL14, I came to accept that if I wanted a second battery for my D5100 as a backup and didn't want to risk getting a battery that might fail prematurely or suddenly be unrecognized by the camera, I'd have to pay the piper. My rating is for the battery and Adorama's great service.

Battery failed quickly

An OEM EN-EL 14 battery came with my D3100 a year ago. It failed after less than ten cycles; now it will not take a charge. I think that is unacceptable and, if I could award this battery a negative-star rating, I would. At least I have a digital "prosumer" pocket camera that takes AA batteries, so I can at least use that until I can get a replacement for the dead battery.

Peace of Mind . . .

to know you have an extra battery in the bag. Purchased this item as a back-up / rotation battery. It worked great! Had I not labeled my batteries, I would have not been able to tell it apart from the one that came with the camera. Used the battery on a three week trip where I alternated daily with original. No difference, both stood to the task. Oh, one other thing, I was using a Nikon D5200 camera, which is not listed in the header as compatible. I knew the numbers matched so I took a chance and it worked.

Exactly what I needed

It's smart to have an extra battery no matter how you use your camera. The confidence this second battery gives me is priceless.

New Product and huge savings!

I needed a backup battery now that I am shooting weddings, and was pleasantly surprised to find a brand new Nikon battery for 40% less than it's sold for at other retailers. Perfect, thanks Adorama!

Great Camera

Replaced several other cameras, including 2 Nikon (one was film, the other 1st digital out), with this with a Nikon D3100. Just learning again how to use it, but so far I love it. It really helps to install lens correctly and you must wait for the auto focus (it seemed faster on my last camera) but overall it is great. Highly recommend!

Nikon OEM EN-EL14 Battery

We have two Nikon DSLR cameras, and we only trust the OEM batteries to protect our investments. The Nikon batteries are more expensive than off brands, for sure, but they are made to the correct specs and work for years. They charge reasonably fast.

Does the job

I purchased this battery for use with my new Nikon D5200. As expected, there are no compatibility issues. The quality is superb and battery life is exceptional when taking pictures. The battery does seem to get drained rather quickly when taking video however.

Have a few of these for D5200

It's a good original battery. It drains fast on D5200, but that really depends on how you use your camera. I left my camera on for 3 days and it sleeps well enough not to drain this battery at all. For the safety of my camera I would not go with any other remakes and rather use this battery.

Loved it.

I bought my D5100 with kit lens & purchased the AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm DX VR lens also on 16 Mar 2012 and the last 2 times I've gone to charge my battery it's still "blinking/charging" after being plugged in for over 7 hours. Am I doing something wrong or is it time to replace it and it's NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET?!?!???

Great battery if you use it right

By Eggroll

The poor reviews on this battery are most likely from those who use the LiveView instead of the view finder. If you're using LiveView mode, constantly focusing, and using the pop up flash, then of course you're going to wear out the battery quickly- but that's true for any battery. I use the view finder with the SB-600 speedlight flash and can shoot for 5+ hours before needing to change to my spare. Just remember that the LiveView and pop-up flash use the most power. Omit or limit those, and...
