Questions & Answers

Shopper : how many hours will this battery pack last before recharging is necessary?DIANA G : I haven,t used this camera for awhile, however I am going to guess around 4 to six hours give or take. It is I feel a more dependalble battery than the batteries that are being used in the Nikon d7000 cameras. It seems to have a longer life. I have shot weddings with the D70 and the battery was quite dependable.ALDEN S : I have no idea exactly how many hours... but I only have to recharge mine about once a month! And I use my camera quite a bit (casual use, not a professional photographer.) Takes 3-4 hrs to charge back up. One thing that drains the battery more quickly is if you leave the fill flash in the "up" position, or if you leave the camera "on" when not in use.AMY J : This battery lasts forever. You could use it to shoot an entire wedding. If you aren't shooting that many shots in one day, it could probably last a week or more. Hope that helps!CHRISTOPHER M : I can not answer the question directly because I cannot recall using the camera continuously from "full battery" to "needs to be changed". I think that the time would depend on the intensity of shooting (continuous vs a shot here and there). I can say that I've never found the "shooting life" of a charged battery to be an important limitation on my picture taking. I generally use the camera with one spare charged battery along for replacement, if necessary. My guess is that with heavy use a fully-charged battery would last several hours.JOHN I : I purchased this battery to have as a spare. But honestly the need for this extra battery in my D70s has been unnecessary . I have yet to drain this battery in normal use. I left my camera on for over a week and a half and there was no drop of power on the camera. I have gone on two vacations for a week each and shot 75 to 100 shots each time and there was no drop of power on the camera. I do suggest that you top off the battery before you have any important pictures to take. Hope this helpsTERRENCE M : Depends on how often you use it. It may last days or as little as a few hours. I bought two batteries and have one fully charged all the time. If you use your camera allot I would suggest that you purchase three batteries. Keep them all charged at all times and then you'll always have a back up battery.GARRETT M : My batttery can last for weeks or months on standby. If you are out shooting all day with your camera it will last thousands of shots. I've never had to change batteries mid day, so I would say it should last a full 8-12 hour day. Never a bad idea to have a spare on you though.SCOTT O : I literally have shot an 8 hour wedding day with one of these, and still went out and did landscapes the next day. Great battery, long life and dependable!FREDRICK G : This is a tough one to answer directly. We have found that the battery lasts so long on a charge that we have only run it out completely once or twice in the three or so years since we bought it. For example, we have taken our Nikon D50 on multiple week-long vacations without having to recharge it. Sorry I can't give you a number of hours. I would estimate at least 4 or 5, but I'm not sure. I can say that we've been very pleased with the performance of the battery compared to other rechargeables. Also, I assume that different cameras will consume charge at different levels, so our number might be better than the same battery in a D100. Hope this is helpful.RON S : On vacation, shooting a lot, I'd have plenty of power remaining at the end of the day. I'd top it up for the next day's shooting, just to be safe. In normal shooting situations, in my studio, I'll go weeks between charges.BRUCE M : I get between 350 to 400 shots on my D700. If using in cold weather you will not get as many.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?RONALD M : Great price for an OEM Nikon battery.AMY J : Needed it for my D70s to have around as a backup.CHRISTOPHER M : I needed an extra battery for my Nikon D50 because my wife and I were about to take an African safari trip and I wanted to be sure of battery power when "once in a lifetime" picture possibilities were inevidable. I experienced no camera problems on the trip and have some wonderful pictures as a result.

EN-EL3e sufficient for needs IF . . . . . . .

Wow, I cannot believe that no one has written a review for this item. Anyway, I use several of these for my D300s and my D700. I DID make certain to PROPERLY CONDITION them to obtain maximum output/life. Properly conditioning means that you charge them, and then completely discharge and recharge them again, doing this for several cycles. This creates an internal chemical condition whereby the batteries will be able to provide their MAXIMUM output and life. FAILURE to condition Li-ion (or NiCAD) batteries will result in shorter hour-to-hour capacity and inability to obtain maximum current conditions. Therefore, for all users, pay heed to BATTERY CONDITIONING as it is important. There are many postings at Nikon complaining of poor battery life and failure to condition them is what the problem really is, and is unlikey (or rarely) due to to a defective battery or camera. And as is also stated elsewhere, constant usage of LIVE VIEW mode and the built-in internal flash will create a large battery drain, to be expected. Nikon's batteries are good items and are properly matched to camera models. Also it is recommended to always have a spare battery. For the minimal cost it is a good and sometimes wise benefit.

Works Great!!

I use 2 EN-EL3's in my MB-D100 plus have a load of back up AA batteries for back up when I go out on long shoots. I am simply amazed how long the EN-EL3's do hold up and how long they last on my D100.

500 Bangs for the Buck

One of the best features of the Nikon D70 camera series is this awesome little battery...it lasts all day! Compared to other cameras who eat batteries (both one-time use and rechargeable) for lunch, these little batteries rock -- on and on and on.
