Bought a few of these to have extras on long shoot days. Tested them all and each one charges up just fine and last just as you'd expect.

This is an oustanding battery, originally when I picked out my D3000 thought I was going to have to buy a second battary for a backup. The battery system is so efficient I have just been using the single battery. It has been about 4 years now in service and shows no signs of faultering. With a manual lens not shooting a lot of flash I have gotten over 1000 frames out of this battery before exausting its charge. Recharge is about 1 hour 15 minutes.

I needed a backup battery for an upcoming wedding I was shooting and I almost made it through the whole wedding and reception before having to change batteries, the batteries did their job and never once let me down!!

I bought this battery for my Nikon D3000. This battery is expensive, but it is a Nikon brand. I have another back up battery, Duracell DR9673, which works just as good as this one, and cost only half of the price Nikon asked for. However, I put this Duracell DR9673 mainly in my battery grip, not in the camera body. I only put Nikon battery in the camera body, because I don't want to worry too much about battery leakage in the camera. This is the only reason why I'd pay for this high price Nikon battery. Sometimes I don't want to carry the bulky battery grip while traveling, having assurance of safety on my gadget is priority to me. A broken camera will ruin your vacation. If you don't mind the cost, this one is perfect. Reliable. Work as described. If you think price is a big factor, consider Duracell DR9673, work the same. Furthermore, if you would spend a little bit more money $18~$50 on a battery grip for your camera, you will have a freedom of using generic batteries, even cheap AA batteries, which saves even more money. And the camera looks good! It all depends on how you look at your budget, priority, functionality, brand image, etc. Not a cheap product, but reliable. That's all about it.

This is my back up battery and I need to know that it will hold a charge and be a fast re-charge. It is definately that!

Charged this baby up, and carried it in my bag for a couple weeks. Tent-camped (with no electricity) through a 3-day event, and when my stock battery got low, popped in my backup. It was still fully charged, just as expected.

I gave this as a second battery with a camera outfit. As others have said, it is good - and you really should - have a 2nd battery just in case. The person who received the camera wound up using the 2nd battery in the middle of shooting as he forgot to check the camera to see how much life was left on the battery already in the camera. We have found that he can take several hundred photos before changing out. And this is, as it is stamped on the battery - a Nikon battery.

I bought the knock-off as a battery backup as well as the Nikon brand. A year later the knock off had literally exploded and the Nikon is still working well. Both were in the same camera case and both subject to the exact some conditions. Needless to say I picked up a 2nd Nikon battery backup.

I received the D5000 camera and battery in December, 2010. The battery has been reliable and the use between charges seems more than adequate. With greater use of the camera, I have found the need for a second battery in the event I am in a remote location without means for recharge.

What can I say, it's a battery. It's my second battery. They last so long I don't think I will need a third.

Given the nature of digital equipment: somethings always on!! That eats up battery life. On the d5000, the battery indicator is more like a guide line than a true gauge, so extra batteries are a must for a day out shooting. Also, the nature of batteries is to hold less and less charge as you use them. A "re-chargable" is only good for so many re-charges. Might as well spread the load among 3 or 4.

This works just as well as the battery the camera comes with, infact, its the SAME battery. Great to have an extra hand for when your not around a plug to recharge your camera, or in the middle of shooting and need a spare.

The Nikon EN-EL9a Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery provides 7.2v of power and can store 1080mAh of power, which translates into over 200 shots on a charge.
Used together with your Nikon D-SLR, the camera's fuel gauge accurately displays the remaining charge and number of shots since the last charging.
The battery is charged using the MH-23 quick charger.
