Questions & Answers

DENNISE S : Will this work on a refurbished D7000 Nikon DSLR?DAVID T : To my knowledge: "Not valid for refurbished cameras".Chris M : When you read the fine print, you will find that you \have to purchase and register this extended warranty within 30 days of purchasing you new camera from a authorized distributor of Nikon Cameras. when I purchased this item, I was outside the 30 days, so I had to return the extended warranty. check the printCARLOS S : I do not know Nikon's policies toward Service Coverage of refurbished cameras.
Ricky K : does it matter where the camera was purchased?DAVID E. J : Yes. It must be a US model in order to be covered under any NIKON warranty. If it is an import or grey market camera you cannot get coverage by buying a Nikon warranty. You can also check with Nikon Tech Support -- just google them.Vasant D : Warrenty does not cover the camera purchased in the gray market.ALLEN S : You can buy the camera at any authorized dealer. The warranty is a Nikon product.KENT K : I believe it has to be an authorized Nikon dealer, but not restricted as to which one. I think.
Melissa G : If I drop the camera will the warranty will help me ?LC L : NO, that's an accidental damage issue; you best obtain an accidental warranty policy.Chris M : from what I read, NO, it will not cover customer abuse or misuse. its an extended factory warranty, that must be purchased and applied for within 10 days of buying the covered camera. if you looking for coverage for customer misuse , check out the square deal warranty, it covers dropping, water, etcGuilbert T : No...only defects in material or workmanship.ALLEN S : No. The Nikon warranty only covers mfg defects

A Good Insurance Policy

I always get the 2 year extended warranty for Nikon DSLR systems. Definitely worth the money and good insurance against minor or major problems. I have used this service twice and have been very happy with the prompt and quality work by Nikon Service.

Inexpensive piece of mind

I rarely buy extended warranties, except for computers. This is a small expense compared to the cost of the camera and thus is cheap insurance.

Safe bet in a warranty

I prefer the Nikon warranty to that of third parties. I have found Nikon to be ver customer oriented in the past, but do not know if any particular third party will be there when I need them.

Why Take a Chance?

The investment in an extended warranty is justified by the high cost of the camera and any repair work that would have to be done. I may never use the extended warranty, but it gives me peace of mind and the assurance that my D7000 would be serviced by an authorized Nikon repair facility. The other warranty plans are mostly cheaper but I have had difficulty getting repairs done by off-brand warranty plans, so I stick to the real thing.

Good to have the peace of mind

If your camera breaks, the repair will cost more than the service contract. Though Nikon cameras are very reliable, one never knows when something can happen after the original warranty period.

Good, but a little expensive

I believe in extended service contracts for expensive photo, electronic, and computer items and the Nikon d7000 has all three elements. Yes this agreement cost more than other non-Nikon agreements, but I like that it is through Nikon with an authorized Nikon Repair Center, Nikon trained techs, with Nikon parts. I have a repair center very close to me, so no shipping of items for repair. The d7000 is technically complicated. Things could go wrong, so I feel better with a extended service agreement from the original manufacturer. While other agreements with private camera stores are usually cheaper, there is always a possiblity that they might go out of business or not honor their original agreement within the length of time of the service contract. This is more unlikly with a large company like Nikon.
