This flashpoint grip works suprisingly well. The construction, though not as good as the Nikon, is still very solid. I noticed it is a bit looser than the Nikon as well, but not near enough to be an issue. Buttons work just fine and as they are supposed to. You do get 8fps with this grip too, which is great. I highly recommend the flashpoint grip!

When shooting headshots an expression can change in a split second. The grip meets my needs on a very high level. I never have to check to see which D300 has the Flashpoint grip.

Frame rate nearly doubles on D700 with 8-AAA cell pack and Rechargeable NiMh batteries. Shoots over 1000 photos at high rate without recharge. Only issue is that you need to roll the batteries in the contacts if it sits for a while without use (In the 8-AAA pack). Fits well and has been reliable. No speed increase with another 7.2V El-3e installed, but, double the battery life. I can't say how long the two batteries will last, because, I have never had to stop an event to recharge or change packs with 8-AAA NiMh pack.

I don't know what you get when you buy the $250.00 battery pack but, this [$] one works just fine.

For 1/5 the price of the Nikon brand, this grip has all the controls I need for comfortable vertical handheld shooting. It looks and feels good, and mates well with my D300.

I have purchased many Flashpoint items and been pleased with the over quality, including other grips. I wa disappinted in this one. The battery low indactor comes on all the time, even on a full battery. Seems to be a bad connection. The third time I used it, the latch to the door compartment snapped off. Spend a little more, get a lot more.

Love this product on everday use. Would not use backpacking due to weight.

This grip came packaged when I bought my camera. I'm glad it did because I would probably not have taken a chance on it otherwise. I've used this grip fairly extensively for about a year now and would like to clear up some things I've seen in other reviews. This grip also came packaged with an off-brand battery which I successfully used in tandem with the genuine Nikon battery for quite some time. When the grip's performance started acting up I blamed it, the grip, and even went so far as to purchase a different grip. Then my camera started acting up and I was understandably concerned. I finally realized this was because of the off-brand battery and had nothing to do with this grip- which still works fine to this day, btw. The only legitimate gripe I've seen in other reviews is that of the materials with which this is made. It does feel "cheap" by itself. But what it lends to the functionality of the camera is easily forgiven during use. Especially when you consider the price. I would buy this again before I'd spend five times as much on the Nikon name that accomplishes the same thing. Worth every penny

love the design, can easily remove when it's battery is low and still have a full charge in the camera battery

Works as advertised, but there seemed to be a lag when using the vertical release button. This resulted in missed shots shooting sports. I sold it.

this is supposed to be great for travelling and sport photography. however, my unit in particular drains the battery fast after 80 shots. (I bought 3 different sets of 8 x AA lithium batteries for this) And if I let it rest for a couple of hours, it will just give me 7 to 10 additional shots before it totally paralyzes my D300 camera. I had to take the battery grip off to make use of the ENEL3 battery inside the camera.

If you have a problem with the grip, don't expect any response from MeiKe; I have sent two emails and haven't received a response.

Works as well as Nikon. Fits conture with my D700 at a fraction of the cost.

Flashpoint makes a just alternative to the rather pricey Nikon model. I was hesitant at first to go "off brand", but this is a great addition to my gear, and performs admirably.

I purchased this to add a little more battery life to the camera and also to have the shutter button where I need it when I orient it for portraits. The construction feels a bit cheap but at a fraction of the price of the Nikon, it is a good investment. I have used it on a couple of assignments and so far no complaints. Seriously, for the price, you can't beat it.

Began to short out after only a couple months of use.......totally failed me in the middle of a large event.........might as well throw it in the trash...........

I thought this was my camera at first, but then I realized the grip was shorting out during shooting. The symptoms are that the controls stop working for 2 - 3 seconds and the LCD turns off and flashes the low battery indicator. Tried with EN-EL3e tray and NiMH tray. Same result. Torquing grip slightly with hand or moving camera around normally causes short.

Nice little grip for the money. The only drawback is the second battery is in the camera vs in the grip, hence you must REMOVE the grip to charge 2nd battery....but in only takes 10 sec to do it!! 10 fps on my 300S.....shoots like a machine gun!!

For the cost this is a no-brainer! This is a must have for all D300 & D700 owners! And yes it is made of plastic, but as of yet I see no issues at all. I own 2 of these and love them.

I bought this as an alternative to the MB-D10 strictly because it was so much cheaper. The MB-D10 still sells for well over $200 everywhere and I could not afford it. I can only say this: you get what you pay for. First, the good. It fits the camera well and looks good enough. The trigger button is very clicky (though this could be bad for some--keep reading.) The rubbery grip feels the same as the D700 it is attached to. Now, the bad. The first thing I noticed with this was that the wheel that tightens it in is very cheap. It wiggles a half inch to both sides when fully tightened down and looks cheaper than cheap. I would be surprised if it lasts me more than a year. Also, I purchased the BL-3 plug to work with the bigger battery. The open end of the grip (where you install the battery) is not shaped completely correct and the BL-3 doesn't fit well. It does fit, but it takes way more force than it should.

I was going to buy the Nikon model, but this one came with the D300s. It seems to be built very well, and fits perfectly. Yes, it makes the camera bulky, but that is to be expected.

This grip is legit as ****! I was kinda worried it was gonna be some cheap [*] but it really turned out to be sweet, its not too heavy but it has a great feel, I would recommend this grip if you are broke or would rather spend your money on something else that matters like a LENS or a strobe. No complaints so far....it makes my camera feel and look like a beast! WORD!

I fail to see any cons with this grip. Granted, the others I purchased via Ebay also include an EL4 battery door, but I had enough of those lying around. The rubber on the bottom of the grip WILL eventually bubble or peel, but compared to the ridiculous prices that Nikon charges for a battery tray, there is not reason that any D700 or D300 owner shouldn't have a couple of these!

I have a MB10 that I put on my new D300S and put this unit on my D300. I shot with it today for the first time and it worked well. What I like most about it is that the shutter button isn't as sensitive as the Nikon model which has a hair trigger.

I used this on my d300 and now on my d700.Counter to what other reviews say, it CAN be used with the EN-EL4--but there's a catch: you have to swap part of the BL-3 with the included EN-EL3 holder. Here's how: you remove four screws from the BL-3 and the tray for the single EN-EL3 (they're all the same on both parts). Swap the cover part with the door lock, and voila! You've now got an EN-EL4 compatible grip! This is totally reversible if you're worried about warranty/resale. Of course you still need the [*]MH-21, but that part is still less than the money you save by purchasing this instead of the MB-D10.Contrary to popular belief, the MB-D10 is NOT a magnesium shell. It's plastic with a metal plate, just like this unit.Works great. Gives clients the impression they're getting their money's worth.

Very affordable battery grip that does not add lots of weight. Can be tricky first time you try to use with tripod..but easily mastered. Use on D300S and it pushes the multi-exposures to 8 fps and can hold it there all day long. D300S battery life is already superb...but adding the additional battery in the grip really allows you to fire all day long at high speeds which is great for sport events, family gatherings or weddings. I ran out of memory with dual 16GB cards (one SD one CF in the D300S...shooting RAW plus Fine Jpeg) before I ran through the batteries. Much cheaper than Nikon grip (I'm sure its worth it to some)...but works 'good enough' for all my needs.

Just like the nikon grip
By DENNIS S.
I did notice that the product is different then the one on the site. The grip that I got was exactly like the Nikon grip(I got both grips). The unit has aperture, shutter controls, and AF-on just like the Nikon grip. It dose not have a 8M Remote Control and it don't hold 2 EN-EL3E Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries. I believe there has been a mistake with the site itself or something. Also, the grip does have the shutter release when you push it auto focus' and when it is press down all the w...

Battery grip

I can highly recommend this product!
The Battery Grip for Nikon D300/300S &D700. holds a lithium battery packs or AA Batteries to offer double-length shooting time. The vertical shutter makes shooting with the camera in a vertical position just as shooting horizontally.
