I purchased this product just before one of my vacation trip with out having no idea this cud be a life savior. I have run through out 2-3 days with out charging my batteries coz of this additional back up i got. Also this has given my D7100 an additional look and great balance for bigger lens. Totally awesome product.

Pro camera look at an affordable price

By

from San Francisco, CA, USA

I've had the MB-D15 a couple of years now and am glad to have it with me when I'm out all day photographing knowing I don't have to worry about missing a shot because I have to change the battery. It has helped me last through a day of sports and corporate events. I like how the controls of the camera grip are also on the battery grip with the command dials, multi selector, and AE/AF lock. When the MB-D15 is attached to the camera, they feel solid as if one piece. The grip feels secure like it won't slip off my hand. If you plan on holding your camera vertically for prolonged periods, the MB-D15 makes vertical shots more comfortable to take while being able to hold the camera steadier. Of course not the mention the cool look of a pro-camera without the pro-camera cost.

Nikon MB-D15

Other than the expense, I find no problems with the Nikon MB-D15. It works great and makes taking verticle shots easier. Nice to have the AF/AE button next to the shutter release as I use it fairly regularly.

Must have

By

For the 7100 I went with the OEM. It fits perfectly to the body and gives you a second battery! The rubber grip is extremely handy for vertical shots. In addition to being able to navigate through menus with the additional buttons.

The must have accessory

By

from Florida  -  Semi-Professional

The grip for me is a must have with any DSLR. I don't like my little finger to be hanging off. Nikon got this one right with the tacky grip, control buttons, shutter release and slot for AA batteries or the factory style battery. Definitely makes vertical shooting much easier.

Makes handling my D7100 easier

By

from Boston, MA  -  Semi-Professional

I moved up from a D90 with a grip to the D7100. My hands are large, and a grip on the camera makes it easier for me to shoot. Of course the ease of handling when shooting in portrait orientation is great too. The AF/AE lock button, the 4 way controller (not a pad like on the camera, but more of a short joystick) and the front and rear command dials are great. The only negative to me, and the reason there are 4 instead of 5 stars is that in order to use 2 batteries with this grip, one has to be in the camera. And then to change that battery out, you have to remove the grip. Although I like the way this grip attaches without thrusting a battery shaped insert into the battery compartment of the D7100, like the D90 did, which makes adding or removing the grip faster, I don't want to have to take it off every time the internal battery is dead. Overall, I am pleased, however.

As good as expensive.

This battery grip is by far the best I ever used. It is bloody expensive comparing to other brands but is the best.

An Excellent Addition.

By

from Ontario, Canada

I received this on December 24th 2013, and have not been able to put my camera (D7100) down since. Not only does it double the battery life but it balances the camera and makes vertical shots a lot easier and quicker to handle in light of the extra shutter release button but also the extra multi-selector and command dial. It also makes handling with my 70-300mm Zoom lens a lot more balanced. In case you have not realized already I am very pleased with this product. Before making the purchase I read extensively on reviews of this product and third party products, and took the overwhelming advise to go for the Nikon product. Although a bit more expensive I am finding it well worth the extra.

Great Product

By

from Galt, CA  -  Professional

I had purchased a third party battery grip and was very disappointed. The Nikon MB-D15 works great. Well built and communicates with the camera. I did have to change the settings in the camera when using AA batteries to alkaline not nicad and everything works great. Well built and comfortable. Overpriced? Of course, it's Nikon. But way better than third party

Questions about this item:

andrew m  What makes the Nikon MB-D15, Multi Battery Power Pack / Grip for D7100 Digital Camera better than the tow other brand ones?
DARRELL T  Cannot comment on other brand power packs as I have not used them at all. What I can say is the MB-D15 performs flawlessly. It does make the camera heavy, so it is not something I leave on all the time.
ozzy c  How do I recharge the battery if the grip is on the camera, or do I have to remove the grip each time I have to charge the battery. Or do I have to buy another battery?
FREDERICK D  If you want the grip for balance / portrait orientation only (not to use dual batteries) you can keep a single battery in MB-D15. You can always get another battery later if you find that you need it.
Cindy M  Does the battery grip have all the control buttons like the D7100 camera body or just the shutter release button. I need to be able to adjust the ISO, Fstop Shutter Speed etc on the grip?
ROY N  As you should be able to see from the picture it has the 'focus'release and the front and rear dials. this allows you to adjust the same things that the other dials can adjust, depending on what they are set for.
