This is a very useful and fun assesory I would like to see a version available for other recent Nikon cameras like the d7000. This would be appreciated by those of us who have been loyal Nikon shooters for many years to the brand

Less than poor
i just changed my old D40x for the D3200 and have added this accessory, knowing the quality of products that Nikon always offer I thought it will be a guarantee; while the camera is just great the WU-1a doesn't worth a dime, Android application is awful, I can't see a clear picture, and I can't make it turn , can't make the screen smaller to be able to shot, I'm very frustrated with it, I hope they can fix it, with an upgraded version of that app.

DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT! thus is not worth the money, the connection is absolutely horrible and if you want to take a picture using your phone the camera just zooms in and out for five minutes and then takes the picture long after the right time. to sum up, EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND A HORRIBLE PRODUCT!!!!
I bought this a few days after I got my Nikon D3200 and I am extremely happy! It is very easy to use! It plugs right in to the port on the side of the camera. It's small and barely noticeable! Not near a computer? No problem! Just open the companion app, select the pictures you want to transfer, and download them directly to your smartphone! Want to take pictures without touching the camera? Easy! Just tap "take photos." You see the camera view! I love this device and recommend it to everyone!
Like I have read before, you MUST put in airplane mode and then select the Nikon Adapter as your Wi-fi. Makes all the difference in the world. NO CRASHES!!
This device is really three devices in one and does one thing you can't do with any other accessory. First off it is a remote trigger for your camera but along with that it is a remote view finder at the same time. Secondly it allows you to transfer photos to any other wireless device and the app allows you to view or transfer photos already on the camera. Last but not least it allows you to geo tag (GPS locate) your photos via your smart device. (My smart device is an Android device.) It does all these well and was simple to connect. It took longer to unfold the instructions and find the English section than to actually connect. Just one word here - check the app and see how you are connected. I thought I was connected via WPS and I was just connected without security. It is easy to remedy by adding a password to the device (remember it if you do) but if you don't anybody may be able to connect and do what they want to your pictures. Its very nice that they include a wrist strap with it as the thing is tiny and would be easy to loose. The strap allows you to tie it to your camera strap to save dropping it. Which brings me to the best part of the secondary design which is the case. It is designed to attach to the narrow part of the camera strap. You can put the case on and attach the device in a way it will stay attached and handy when you need it but out of the way when you don't. The only downside is it holds the connections cover open when installed, which for me is a very minor annoyance.
We all know Nikon's focus is on the quality of their optical products which no doubt are great or simply the best. However! I am disappointed with this WU-1a product because it simply doesn't allow download the original files from the camera at once and instead reduce its size and delete the embedded EXIF info. You have to download one by one! if you want to download the original file. Nikon should try hard to adapt the products to wireless. The competitors are doing this!
I bought a Coolpix P7800 rather than a Canon because of this device. The website indicated that it would work with the P7800 and my version of android on a Motorola Atrix. when I try to install the app from Google Play I receive a message that it is not compatible with my phone. I am not about to buy another phone for this. I feel cheated.
I've owned this product for less than five months and had problems right out of the box. I am using this product with a D7100 and noticed immediately that when connected to the camera via the mini usb on the camera, the WU-1a was loose. Although this concerned me I was in need of a remote to take photos of myself for publications. I have an iPhone, and had issues with losing my connection if I had to move me camera to get a different angle. Because I needed to see the framing, I suffered with the frustration of continuous lost connections. I have only used this product about 1-2 dozen times and when I again needed to take photos for a deadline, the unit is not lighting up at all. I have submitted a request to Nikon to see if it falls under the warranty. I doubt it will be repaired/replaced. When I purchased it I expected to be able to use it for at least a year...1-2 dozen uses does not justify this purchase. I hope a different vendor releases a better product...sigh. You get what you pay for I guess... By the way NIKON, I typically get paid for my reviews but to forewarn other consumers I felt obligated to provide others with honest feedback. If this item is replaced or fixed by NIKON without a hassle I will certainly update this review or create a new one underneath.
I have two other remote options for triggering my D7100 but it's nice to use the live mode with this device, particularly when the camera is on a tripod to photograph a flower close to the ground. However, I dared not download to my iPhone because it was so slow. Fortunately, I stumbled on one review that suggested putting the phone in airplane mode and what a difference! I don't typically transfer many of my images to my iPhone but it's so much faster in airplane mode I may do more of that. Bottom line is this is a very useful device that can make triggering your shutter remotely a bit easier and really makes image transfer to the iPhon fast and easy.
This product does not work with the D3300 and Galaxy S4. It continues to have issues with the connection, saying the signal is low and then drops and the phone hooks up to wi-fi. I tried it in an area without any wi-fi and the same problem. Being able to transfer pics was important to me and I am disappointed that this unit does not work. I will be selling my D3300 and going to a different brand that has working wi-fi.
Outstanding addition to transfer images to my Ipad! Lightning fast and never a problem. I love it!
