Questions & Answers

Paul W : Does this lens work on a e620 camera body?AKSEL J : Hi, It'll work just fine. It's a very nice, pretty compact combination.DAVE M : I think it will work with any Olympus 4/3's camera I use mine on a E-5, and a Evolt 500Paul W : Thanks Troy, other people have answered that it does. PaulWDIANNE H : Yes, that is what I purchased it for and it is designed for the SLR cameras.RANDY L : Yes, absolutely! Great for when you want to "go small," plus f/2.8 is better than many of the zooms I usually carry, so it's easy to keep handy for when a little more light-gathering capability is needed.TROY T : I have an older body E300 and it works fine assuming you camera is newer it should be fine. I would contact the vendor before you purchase.Paul W : Thanks for fast reply PaulWPaul W : Thanks for fast reply PaulWDOUGLAS H : Yes, that will work on any of Oly's dSLR line. I used it on the e620 and the e30, very nice small lens. I also used it, via adapter, on an oly pen (m43), and although it worked, I would not recommend that use.PHILIP L : Yes it does.MICHAEL S : I bought this for use on my Olympus E-420. It works very well. I am not sure about the E-620 because I don't have one. You might check with Olympus or ask the question on a photo forum such as Ugly Hedgehog or one of the others. Sorry I couldn't be of any assistance for you on this matter.
SETTONE M : Will this work on e330?BILL G : Don't know if it will work on an E-330. It works fine on my E-410 and E-30.DAVE M : If the e 330 has the Olympus 4 thirds mounting system I believe it should workWILLIAM B : I have this lense on two E510s and one E3, It works fine. talk to Adorama. They know everything Good Guys I don't know.RANDY L : I was not familiar with the E-330, but I looked it up and it is a four-thirds camera...so yes, this lens will work with it.CARL W : Will work with any Olympus four thirds mount (NOT MICRO 4/3)MICHAEL S : Hi, I bought this pancake lens for my Olympus E-420. I have had the best of results for this premier lens. I recently used it at an orchid exhibit at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio and I must say, even though I was the photographer, the results were stunning. It will open up a whole new world of photography for me. I doubt I will ever take it off my camera. I have been a serious photographer since 1978.EMILY M : According to the information that I see on the Olympus site e330 uses a 4/3 lens mount so this lens should work.
Shopper : Does this lens have the micro 4/3 mount? Can it be used with lumix bodies?DAVE M : I use mine with the Olympus Evolt 500, It dose not have a micro 4/3 mount.HIROYUKI T : Is micro 4/3 mount for Olympus Pen? If so, it's different. I don't have Pen, but E-410 and E-520. This lens fit E-410 and E520 which is 4/3rd spec mount. If Lumix body has 4/3rd spec mount, it should fit.GRANT J : This is not a micro 4/3 mount but rather the standard E-series 4/3 mount. You need the version of this lens for use with the micro 4/3 Olympus Pen series, which should also be available.IRVING K : Yes, it does have a 4/3 mount, and it should fit on a Panasonic DSLR camera.JONATHAN B : It is 43 mount only. You would need and adapter to use it with m43. Panasonic offers the 20 1.7 as the closest equivalent for FOV an compactness. STEVEN S : NoERIC H : No, this lens has the regular 4/3 mount, so you would need an adapter.DOUGLAS H : No, this lens is standard 4/3 mount. There is an adapter (~$100), which allows 4/3 to mount on m4/3 cameras. I have this adapter, and it works, but I would not suggest for day-to-day shooting as the lens doesn't focus as quickly as it does on slr bodies. I have a PEN, and I would recommend the lumix 20mm for m4/3, its a fantastic lens.AKSEL J : This lens has the standard FourThirds mount, and will only work on micro 4/3 with one of Olympus' micro 4/3 adapters. It's designed to be used with contrast detect auto focus, so that should work fine. However, the price of the package (lens + adapter) is as much as Panasonic's 20mm lens, which will work without an adapter (and is a very nice, compact lens). So, unless you have other (older) FourThirds lenses that you also need to convert, the 25mm is not the best value around. I am assuming when you are talking about Lumix bodies, you are referring to the micro 4/3 bodies, not the older 4/3 ones.BILL G : The lens cannot be usrd with the micro 4/3s system without a mount.ROBERT A. W : No, it has a standard 4/3 mount. To use it with a micro 4/3 camera, such as the Lumix DMC-GH2, you have to use a DMW-MA1 mount adapter. Instead of that combo., I would suggest purchasing the Panasonic Lumix H-H020 20mm micro 4/3rds lens, instead of this Zuiko. It is faster and it produces stunning images, especially portraits in natural light.Chris K : No. This is for the E series, and so is 4/3 mount, NOT Micro 4/3. (micro being more popular these days, this one could be considered "full or big 4/3" ;) FWIW, Panasonic makes a very nice 20mm micro4/3 - though it is more $$.

Excellent

* Excellent performer * Works great on my E-P3 with Panasonic adapter. My first words after the first shots with this lens were:" wow... this is really, really good" After using it for a while my opinion is "yeap... this is really, really good" Excellent resolution, contrast, and colors; also, it's small, and light; on top of that, works great on the E-P3 (and I guess the same applies to the E-M5 and E-P5). Fantastic lens, great price. Photographers will appreciate this lens. Consider the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 if you are a bokeh "addict" -or really need the extra speed. Otherwise, I see no reason to pay more. This lens is great.

Great lens

This is a good lens to always have on your camera. It makes me pay attention to how I compose my photo and not just zoom in and out.

A good lens for the price

A good lens for our needs(close up work).Suposedly it is as near to the naked eye,but at a fixed 2.8 apearture. We wonder if thats true!Beware, do not buy the chaeper models as the are for the older camaras and they will not fit!The olympus lens hood is a joke.We cannot see any use for it. All in all,a nice well made lens for the price & might even be good for general use too!

Fun lens

I had only been using the kit lenses. This lens take my photos up a notch and allows me to have better control of how I want my subjects to be photographed.

Useful ultra-compact Olympus prime

Primes for DSLRs are getting rare as hen's teeth. While this Olympus normal lens is not as fast as the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 or as sharp and contrasty as the Leica (exact length and speed escapes me just now, but faster than 2.8 and 46-49º AOV), it is a winning performer, on price, compactness, and general utility. It is probably the smallest and lightest lens I have ever had for either a DSLR or 35mm. It is reasonably fast, has very smooth and fine MF and makes sharp pictures, save a small amount of chromatic aberration, but only occasionally (a little fringe sometimes, mostly very light, long verticals in high contrast areas). I like the metal mount, which is a feature also rarer in these days of plastic everything. For about $230, it is a useful plunk into my 4:3 kit bag. I will say that the 14-42mm f/3.5--5.6 kit zoom is probably sharper, and with less CA, but for more money bought apart from the kit, and almost 4x the size. I wish there were more to choose from in primes for my E-520, but among those available, the 25mm 'pancake' is good to very good overall.

My new favorite standard lens

I bought this lens for my Olympus E-410 as a way to carry a compact, almost pocketable outfit with me, since an E-P2 micro-4/3 is out of my budget right now. This camera-lens combination is a joy to carry around all day. If you can live without f/1.4 or f/1.8, then this is the lens for you.

Great lens

By EMILY M.

This is a good lens to always have on your camera. It makes me pay attention to how I compose my photo and not just zoom in and out.

The Olympus Zuiko Digital 25mm f2.8 is a thin, lightweight single-focus standard pancake-type lens. The lens has an overall length of 23.5 mm. When combined with E-410 or E-420, the total length including the camera body and lens is only 76.5 mm. The result is an easy-to-store, easy-to-carry camera system with go-anywhere portability.

With a focal distance equivalent to 50 mm on a 35 mm film camera lens, this standard pancake-type lens provides an image angle very close to that of the naked eye. The result is a near-natural visual field that makes this an ideal standard lens for daily use, whether for simple snapshots or for more sophisticated portrait and landscape shooting.
