So far I think this is a great value for performance, a little more reach than the 40-150 great IQ, if there is a downs side it would be the size and that it like the phase detection auto focus on the em1 for focusing better. On the em5 MK II unless you are focusing on a super contrast area it reall hunts but when locked on it is sharp as the em1.

I'm thrilled beyond words with my latest acquisiton from Adorama. This is the first used item I've every purchased. Outstanding performance and value - saved me a lot. I suggest that anyone interested in first rate used camera equipment, check out Adorama. I also suggest going for the highest rating on the item. Furthermore, the extended warranty is a steal of a deal.

Excellent quality and value for a 4/3 body. Not as fast to focus using Micro 4/3 converter, but focal length makes up for this.

I just recieved this glass by UPS. I bought it used and cannot see any signs that it has been used. Whoever had it took very good care of it. I bought it along with a new 12-60 f2.8 and both will be mounted to an E510(kit) that I bought from Adorama I don't know how many years ago. Both lenses were carefully packed and are in excellent condition. I've gathered some really decent shots with the kit lenses and had considered moving up to a larger sensor, but since I'm not making my living with a camera I decided to make the move to better lenses. I really love my 510 and the addition of these lenses should extend the life of my 510 by many years. I'm strictly an amateur and have been told I have a good eye. I don't know that to be the case, but I shoot what I like, what appeals to me. What appealed to me was the versatility of the 510 and the enthusiasm of Olympus owners overall. I haven't had a chance to shoot these lenses, except for a couple of indoor shots, but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. So, for now, I'll give the lens 4 stars and Adorama 5 stars for such a great value. TTFN

Great all around lens if you don't mind lugging around a bit more weight. I use this mainly to shoot birds and other wildlife because of the fast focus and sharp pictures. Also for events. Use on E-5.

I had the 70-300mm lens and wasn't real happy with it. I tried this lens and was really impressed. I use it on my OMD EM-5 and have excellent results. It is a little heavy but I wouldn't want to give up the quality build for a lighter lens.

I use it mostly for wildlife and outdoor sports. Have also used it for portraits...tight in head shots

Use for studio portraits and outdoor events like marches, sports, etc. Olympic optics are the very best I have ever encountered and their SWD (Super Wave Drive) is just that "super" fast. The lens is heavy because its built like a rock.

Dollar-for-dollar, this lens is tough to beat in terms of focal length and quality. For a bit over $1,000 you get a fast, weather sealed lens with an effective focal length of 400mm. Works great with the EC-14 teleconverter to deliver 560mm with the loss of one stop. Pair this with 12-60 high grade lens and you are ready for just about anything.

I had been using the 70-300mm telephoto but it doesn't always focus well in low light. This one is much smoother and very quiet. I have used it for wildlife and for taking casual shots at outdoor parties and the results are excellent

A fast lens is always heavier (the down side of all that extra glass), but the increase in weight was well worth it for not only the increase in speed, but the improved image clarity and color. The wave focus is fast and accurate. The lens ring for tripod use that is provided is necessary given the weight. Just got back from a shoot in the southern Utah canyons. Two thumbs up.

I got it to shoot birds in flight and it is excellent for that. It has also become my standard lens for general purpose shots and macros of butterflies and insects.

You just have to get use to the heaviness of the lens. I had to get a camera sling when carrying the lens with any of my bodies. I usually shoot with two cameras when doing weddings. The lens is fast and accurate but with any auto focus be aware that subject has contrast although manual focussing is easy. I am glad to have bought this lens although I should have at the beginning of the year and not waited.

I am very happy with this lens. It is a discernible step up in quality from the kit lenses, which themselves are no slouches. I have used it to good effect for photos of birds, wallabies (deadly Australian marsupials), flowers, hovering dragonflies, and other denizens of the natural world. It is reliable when tracking moving subjects, resulting in a high proportion of sharp photos. In 35mm equivalent terms it is a 100-400 zoom. The aperture of 2.8-3.5 is a true measure of its light gathering capacity but as I understand it the depth of field is greater than a full-frame setup with the same numbers, so if background blur is a priority and cost no object you'd be looking at a larger format. That is an inherent aspect of the 4/3 format and therefore not a "con" as regards the lens itself. It does mean that sometimes a contrasty background can look a bit busy. In low light It has on occasions hunted for focus. Now listen up, Olympus: it focuses quickly and reliably in near darkness when I use a $5 led torch for a/f assistance. The strobing flash, on the other hand, is still going long after scaring off all the potential subjects, with the exception of those to whom it has caused seizures. I have seen this lens's weight listed as a con in some fora. To me that does not make sense. At a little over a kg it is not heavy in absolute terms. It is lighter, and cheaper, than a 100-400 full frame lens of similar quality. Its weight is not a con, it is a specification. Satisfaction with the results, on the other hand, is no mere specification, and that is what you can expect from this lens.

This is a super sharp high quality lens. I keep this lens on my camera about 75% of the time. It is a wonderful portrait lens

Have had this lens for 3 months and am completely satisfied. I find I use it probably 80-90 percent of the time due to the 50-200 range, which covers the bulk of my shooting requirements. I also have a 70-300 lens but find that the quality of the 50-200 is such that I can crop a photo and it is still sharper than the 70-300. In addition, the auto-focus is much faster. This lens is not light weight but I actually find this to be an advantage when shooting off-hand. This lens, thus far, has proven to be everything I had anticipated.

great value as a refurbished lens, if there are any differences to a new one out of the box I can't see them. I use it with the E-5 and so far its perfect for everything I want - the speed of the autofocus is beyond belief, it even seems to anticipate what I want to capture.

Amazingly fast lens and good reach. Auto focus is reasonably fast. A little on the heavy side. Works very well with my E5. Sometime I use this lens with my EC14 teleconverter for even more reach.

I wish it was a 72 mm lens but with a 67 to 72 adapter, it can use the same filters as my 12-60 Zuiko. Fast focus with excellent detail. Short length a plus. Have found nothing bad--only good on this lens. Lens hood is huge so I rarely use.

I tried this lens just a week ago and was surprised!! Took a photo from my patio at full extension hand held with IS on and was really knocked over when I expanded photo to 14x on the LED of my Olympus E-30 and image was tack sharp!! I still have to put it through it's paces but I'm sure the results will be great!!

I've heard a lot of talk about the differences between this lens and similar Sigma offering, but after using both I can safely say that the Oly 50-200 is the clear winner. Focusing speed, IQ, lens weight and feel, all go in favor of the Oly lens. It is a bit heavy, but a monopod negates the weight nicely. Put this one with a 12-60 lens and a 1.4x teleconverter and you're set for nearly anything under the sun! Sports, wildlife, even some portraiture on occasion, it's just a great one to have in the bag.

This is a very fast and sharp lens and very good in low light situations. I bought it to replace a 70-300mm Zuiko lens and I couldn't be happier with it's performance. Very rugged construction and silent autofocus make this lens a winner.

This is a very sharp lens - even wide open. It is half the size, weight and price of a comparable Canon or Nikon lens. Optically superb. The problem: the zoom is accomplished by an external extension of the lens barrel, and the extension - a smaller diameter tube extending from the main body - is a bit flimsy. There is noticeable wiggle of the front element visible through the viewfinder, although no accompanying focus problems. It is not a problem yet other than it seems disturbing for a lens in this price range.

Bought Olympus to get new lens mount system. Never considered Olympus beings I use Hasablad and Leica film, Canon 1D Full Frame Digital with adapters so I can use Hasi/Leica Glass on Canon. Only bought this so I could bolt up an old Minolta/Leica 800mm Mirror Lens via adapter. What a surprise in the quality of the output of both the E520 Camera and this Lens (only Olympus Lens that I own). With this addition I am back to being able to use all of my glass in digital, so Film is definately dead for me!!!

Designed to meet the needs of the professional photographer, Zuiko Digital lenses were born of an uncompromising commitment to performance. The lenses feature high resolving power, to get the most out of the imaging element. Zuiko Digital lenses allow light to strike the image sensor at a near-perpendicular angle, minimizing degradation and light loss. This large, award-winning family of lenses is perfectly matched to work exclusively with digital cameras so every pixel is properly exposed.
This is a high-performance super-telescopic zoom lens that features, for the first time, the Supersonic Wave Drive (SWD) autofocus system which enables the lens to achieve an AF speed about two times faster3 than the previous ED 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 model. ED lens elements are used extensively to correct the color blurring that can occur when telescopic lenses are extended to their maximum focal length, while the digital-dedicated design ensures high-quality performance with clear, crisp images from edge to edge. Close-up shooting capability is also superb, with a minimum shooting distance of just 1.2 meters throughout the zoom range.
