one of the reasons for purchasing this camera is my Olympus E 420 the door over the memory card keeps breaking. this appears to be a weakness of design. I am hoping looking at the design on the E-620 which is different I will not have this problem.

This camera is a good travel companion. It is relatively light but does not have the plasticky feel of low end cameras from other manufacturers. With a lens like 11-22mm f/2.8-3.5, the pair makes a good carry-around kit that will not break your neck. The swivel LCD is very convenient for difficult shooting angles, except the contrast detection autofocus is very slow when LCD is used. In terms of high ISO, this is the area that Olympus lags behind and there are too many complaints about it already. I sold my E-620 a few months ago and switched to E-P3. But now I kind of regret it. Not that E-P3 is not a good camera, but the micro 4/3 lenses available now are optically inferior to some of the legendary 4/3 lenses. Using adaptor is a pain. I thought of buying E-5 to match with my remaining 4/3 lenses, but E-5 is too expensive and too heavy.

My new favorite camera! This is a full-featured DSLR in a package that's just slightly bigger than a Leica rangefinder. It's exactly big enough to hold onto securely and to conveniently use all the buttons, and no bigger. Image quality is excellent, color is remarkable. Ergonomics are great, even the on-off switch is clever: if it's in the way, the camera is off. Highly recommended!

I never considered using my e510 at ISO 1600. I had no qualms using the 620 at 1600. The images are a little softer at default than the 510. I'm still finding the sweet spots on this camera. I also purchased the 50 macro. Great lens, but if you extend it to the macro end, it's a long way to get back to focus. Some sort of limiter or switch would be a great idea. And will someone explain why Olympus continues to use pre-flash as a focus aid?

I bought this camera before Christmas. I love it so much that I put away my Nikon D90 for now. Simply put, the good things about this camera are accurate colors, good resolution and compact light weight body. I like the art filters too, especially grainy film and pinhole filters. The swivel LCD is a big plus. It's very useful for shooting macros. On the downside, autofocus under low light and high ISO noise are still not as good as D90. If only there is a build-in focus assistant light, not using the flash as a substitute, it would be much easier for low light autofocus. Overall this is a very good camera. Combined with one or two high grad Olympus lenses, this camera can produce very good images.

An excellent camera that lives up to its reviews, and yet I still returned it! I have an e-420 and there was, indeed, more noise in this sensor, than in my 420. You'd have to be a pixel peeper (I am) to notice and it won't effect your prints in all but the most narrow cases, but for me, the upgrade wasn't quite worth it. I can recommend this camera strongly just the same, but I also hope that newer models with more reasons to upgrade are released soon because I'll continue to miss not having image stabilization.

Perfect size, great images!
By Scott P.
The Olympus E-620 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera features six creative in-camera art filters, Multiple Exposure shooting and a swivel Live View 2.7" HyperCrystal III LCD offer artistic freedom and endless creative possibilities. The 12.3-megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruePic III+ processor provide exceptional picture quality. With in-body Image Stabilization and small 16.76-ounce body, the E-620 is a camera that truly lets you shoot outside the frame.
From the bright colors of Pop Art to the gritty black and white of Grainy Film, the six in-camera art filters transform your photography into works of art. Pop Art super-saturates colors, creating brighter, more vivid photographs. Soft Focus creates a dreamlike quality giving photographs a fantasy feel. Pale and Light Color brings soft, flat light and pastel coloring to photographs. Grainy Film produces a gritty high-contrast black-and-white film look. Light Tone brightens the image and its darker areas, providing more detail. Pin Hole darkens the outer edges of a photograph, therefore enhancing the subject in the center and bringing the photograph to life.
With this new camera's Multiple Exposure function you are free to tell a visual story your way, whether in a portrait, a landscape or a combination of both. The image capture options allow you to shoot two shots on the same frame, use a save shot and then shoot another, or to capture up to 3 shots separately and combine them in the camera later. Superimpose your own portrait with a starry night sky to create a photo with the impact you desire. Let your imagination lead you to new creative discoveries. The E-620's 100-percent accurate 270-degree swivel 2.7-inch Live View HyperCrystal III LCD can be rotated freely so photographers can compose at any angle, including overhead and down low. This enables a photographer to compose a subject in the Live View LCD and see the results of the various creative features - live as they're happening.
The LCD displays in vivid color and provides a wide viewing angle of 176 degrees, which ensures images can be composed from even the most obscure angles. The E-620 features in-body Image Stabilization. That means you can use any Four Thirds lens, from wide-angle to telephoto, for perfectly clear, crisp photos no matter what the shooting situation, even in low light situations. With the E-620, you can compensate for camera shake by up to four shutter speed steps.
