Questions & Answers

Shopper : Does this cable work with the OM-D EM5 with an FL-600R flash?SAM L : I do not have the same equipments so I am not 100% sure, however, the contact pins layout is same on all Pany and Olympus cameras. The cable has no electronics inside. It is just an extension so I am almost certain it would work for your equipments.JOHN W S : My latest Olympus is the E-3 plus several other previous generations. However it works as advertised and presume it has not been changed. It also works well with Panasonic G series of which I own and use only the original iteration G1 and several of their 'point and shoots' which, at 72, I find more portable.ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this cable does not appear to be compatible with the OM-D EM5
LONNIE B : Will the cord work with a Lumix G-3 and a Panasonic FL-360? Will it work in all functions or only manual?JOHN W S : Yes . . . at least I believe so since I've used it both on Olympus and my G1. And ask why would they have changed the configuration? Sorry for the delayed response; of late I spend most of my time writing a blog on Google, Opera and Culture Book. Good luck!PAUL J : I really don't know. All I use is Olympus equipment. I can't say about Lumix or the Panasonic. Sorry I couldn't give you more info.SAM L : I am using the cord with Lumix GX1 and Nissin 460 flash. The cord has the same connector layout as the GX1 hot shoe so it is just an extension and no electronics involved. I believe it should work just fine with G3 & FL360 including all the functions of the flash.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SAM L : I bought this for Lumix GX1 and Metz 40MZ-3i flash off-shoe set up. It works great.

43's and µ43's

This cord allows me to use an older Olympus 43's flash (FL-36R) with a µ43's camera (E-M5). Works perfectly and allows all features of both to work seamlessly together.

Not sturdy enough for the real world

Bumped the flash unit (FL-36) and broke the mounting foot off of the upper cable end. Repaired with epoxy and much more sturdy now. I will purchase another and give it the epoxy treatment BEFORE I use it.

Good - could be better

It helps a lot with lighting in some macro shots. However, the cord's a bit short and and the plastic covers for the connecting ends seem a little flimsy. Overall, it increases my flash options quite a bit.

Ok, when you don't have a choice

I've got two of these. The plastic foot on the extension end has broken on both. Fortunately, the metal nut allows it to still be fastened to my flash bracket. Works well, but breaks easily.

Not for the Pro.

I own three of these. Not because I need three, but because the shoe mount keeps breaking. I think that the FL-50 flash is too heavy for the small plastic shoe. It breaks off when I'm making a bounce adjustment. I now use a ProMaster OM TTL Cord that I purchased localy. The ProMaster has a better shoe, but the electrical connections are touchy. This is just another disapointment in Olympus products for the professional.

Attaches to the hotshoe of your digital camera and permits you to use FL-20/FL-36/FL-40/FL-50 Flash or standard type flash with most external flash brackets. The bottom of the hotshoe that holds the flash has a standard 1/4" tripod socket thread
