Using the microphone lowered the volume substantually, even when directed at the source. My bad for getting a directional mic instead of an omni-directional.

This item is very cheap (in price), and it was actually bought accidentally when I bought the Canon G7x mark ii. I figured why not try it out since I am looking at new microphone anyway. It is very small and barely sticks out from the camera, and there is a decent amount of static in the background of the video. I wouldn't recommend if you want great sound or have a bigger budget. 3 stars for the price.

Needed a recorder for a conf. so I purchased the Olympus 7200 digital recorder and added the oluympus mic along with it. Works great around the house. Will try it at the conf. in the future.

I purchased this mic to use with my O;ympus WS-210. While the recorder mics performed very well, I needed something in enviroments that were not acoustically friendly. The mic performed very well. There was a noticeable difference in the sound quality of the recordings. Definitely helps reduce white noise so commonly picked up by the built-in mics on recorders. The microphone performed excellent outside as you could little or no wind-noise. The only Con I could find was the versatility of the mic in certain applications. The mic head is angled, which gave a tendancy to be more uni-directional in some situations. This was not a deal breaker for me.
