I bought this camera for my husband to use when we are hiking in the mountains and walking from village to village. We didn't really need a camera that was waterproof to the depth on the specs. We rather want tio use the camera in the rain, have it hanging off of our backpacks (so it will be bounced around) and it needs to be tough enough that if we trip and fall, the camera won't break. It is a recent purchase so we have not field tested it yet.

I purchased this camera for adventure trips. Great pictures and simple to work. Battery lasts a very long time between charges. I could have bought the upgrade TG-2 which has more lens versatility, but that is not what I bought it for. If you need those options then buy the Tg-2. This camera does exactly as described.

I wanted a camera I could take anywhere and no have to worry about it. This camera suits my needs. The pictures are great so far. Yes, you pay more for an underwater camera, but when you forget it in your pocket and it goes through the washer and dryer and your pictures will still print, it is worth it.

Used this on recent scuba diving vacation - used with a housing. Took very clear pictures above and below the water. I was very impressed with the basic automatic programmed features. Had very good lighting. Best underwater pictures I have ever taken. Its not an SLR, but awesome photos and videos. Loved the movie button and could take pictures at the same time.
