Shopper : I need the battery cover, I lost mine?
Shopper : is this brand new in the box also does it have speed control ?Mary K E : Mac compatible? I have OSX Ver 10.6.8. Am recording choir music.DAVE W : Mine was new in the box but does not have speed control. Just fast forward and reverse. I am pleased with the unit and have had no problems with it.JOSEPH K : Yes, it is new in box and if you are asking about speed during playback the following is excerpted from the Olympus website: "Can the playback speed be controlled? The WS-500M provides for playback speed control. It may be desirable to use Fast Playback to run through recordings of meetings or Slow Playback to review a language lesson. Setting up the recorder for the playback speed mode is done in the recorder’s menu in the Play Speed option. The Slow Playback settings are: x0.5 Play, x0.625 Play, x0.75 Play and x0.875 Play. The Fast Playback settings are: x1.125 Play, x1.25 Play, x1.375 Play, x1.5 Play and x2.0 Play. X2.0 Play may not be available if a high-quality recording mode is used that has a high bit-rate and high sampling frequency, in which case the maximum playback speed will be x1.5. The speed must be selected and preset in the menu. During playback, selecting Slow Play, Fast Play and Play is done by pressing the [OK] button. The speed mode in use is indicated in the upper right corner with an arrow." This has proved to be an excellent recorder for the price. Because of the features offered and ease of use, we issue them to our police officers to use for recording statements and have had no issues with them. The playback speeds work great for reviewing recorded statements.KATHLEEN S : Sorry, I bought these for my girls to take to college... I'm not even sure if they use them much...

excellent voice recorder

I use this device mostly to record classroom lectures and messages from off the internet. I am very happy with the sound quality.

Excellent Stereo Recorder for School

I have owned the same make of recorder and have used it over the last 2 years with no problems. Makes excellent recordings if you set it near the teacher. Very helpful to review for final exams.

small and easy to use.

The batter was charged. no powerswitch i would have liked to have a lock puttons sop that it would not turn it self on in my pocket.

Great size, good quality

Sound quality is not as good as the DS-50 series, but this is the most convenient recorder for its size, with the best sound in this price range.
