Questions & Answers

Shopper : Did it fit on a Panasonic dmc fz50, I am new to all this and want to know if I need something else to be able to attach to my camera?NEAL F. R : I can't say for certain because I'm not familiar with your camera, which, I assume you mean the DMC FC150? But I would say the answer is no. I bought the lens for my DMC GX1 Micro Four Thirds camera. I bought it mainly for the Leica imprimatur (and the price to boot), which tells me it is a quality lens. What I didn't realize, to my subsequent chagrin, was that the lens is for a Four Thirds system camera, NOT my Micro Four Thirds camera. But, there is an adaptor (which Panasonic is especially proud of, given the price) that allows the lens to attach to the GX1 body. I got the adaptor. Nonetheless, I'm having focusing problems with the lens/adaptor combination. I really haven't shot with it enough to make a fair judgment yet though, Moreover, there has been a firmware upgrade for the GX1, which I have downloaded, that I understand addresses this issue. But I've still to put the lens through its paces with the upgrade. So, it could go back to Adorama yet. We'll see. It does, however, seem to be some really fine glass, so I hope it works for me. Way long answer to your question, but it might also be helpful to others considering the lens for the GX1.Glen H : Unfortunately no, this lens is not compatible with your camera. This lens is designed for interchangeable lens cameras, the DMC-FZ50 is a fixed lens camera (lens is not removable).
noam g : this lens came up when i specified micro 4/3 in my search but here it is described as 4/3, not micro. now which is it?JOEY C/O G : Not sure. But I am pretty sure they are different. before Panasonic and Olympus came up with the Micro 4/3, they had the 4/3.RUSSELL H : It is a gorgeous lens and you should get it for your micro 4/3 system. It however IS NOT a micro 4/3 lens. It is in fact a lens for a 4/3 system.. In order to use it on a micro 4/3 camera (which I do) like a Panasonic Lumix GF1 you need to use an adapter. Panasonic makes a 4/3 to micro 4/3 adapter that carries most of the automatic functions of the 4/3 lens with it for use on a micro 4/3 system. If you are into old cameras (in particular Olympus cameras) you can see that there is an almost direct relationship between the old Olympus OM lens mount and the electronic Olympus 4/3 lens mount. There is also an almost direct relationship between the old and smaller Olympus half frame Pen F lens mount and the electronic Olympus micro 4/3 lens mount. Going to a smaller lens mount (like the micro 4/3 mount) let them build a smaller and more compact camera. To put the larger 4/3 lens on a micro 4/3 camera you need to use an adapter. Fortunately Olympus makes a superb adapter. Probably more information than you either wanted or needed. The Leica lens is a fantastic optic and its worth the cost.

Incredible lens

Extremely sharp and I take fantastic videos with it. Because it's a F2.8 lens, it's a little heavier than others but absolutely worth it.The Cons: Price.

incredible Image Quality

I never would have bought this lens, but as it came with my Panasonic L1 kit, I have used it and will not look for a replacement for images in the 28-100mm zoom equivalent category. I think this lens suits the L1 but may seem overbearing on the smaller lighter Olympus dSLR bodies. Only a faster lens could offer anything more than you get with this.

The Panasonic 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 Leica D Vario-Elmarit Aspherical MEGA O.I.S. Lens is an interchangeable bright standard-zoom lens, developed by Leica exclusively for digital SLR cameras, and follows the Four Thirds Standard. This means that the lens is also interchangeable with other manufacturers that use this format.

With a bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 and the incorporated MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), this lens makes it possible without using a tripod to capture clear, sharp images even in macro shooting or low-lit situations. This provides users with more shooting flexibility. In addition, the lens maximizes this advantage by incorporating Panasonic's Venus Engine PLUS LSI into the lens.
