I purchased this as a every day walk around camera. There is no way I could carry my DSLR everywhere, like I do this camera. Features, control and image quality of this, are excellent. I have no complaints what so ever. It goes with me everywhere, and I've been able to capture pictures that I would have missed other wise. OK, you're not going to get the IQ of a APS-C or FF DSLR...but you are going to take this, when the thought of lugging around the weight and bulk of a DSLR is just too much.

I got into digital with an Olympus e510, then a 620. Then I went to Samsung, now I'm back with micro 43 in the form of the GX7. I put it to the test taking some company pictures, which turned out to be a big hit. I could have done just as well with the Samsung NX20, but I got tired of waiting for Samsung to expand its lens collection. I find the difference between the GX7 and my APS-c system to be minimal. I'm sure I would have a different opinion if I were comparing it to the NX-1, but that's out of my range for now. I like the rangefinder styling more than I thought I would. The tilt screen is a loss for me over the articulated screen I used to have, but the touch screen takes some of the loss away. I may get the GX8 if it ever gets this cheep, but I really hope Panasonic creates a GX7 mark 2, closer in size to the GX7 with an articulated screen.

So far this camera meets and exceeds all my expectations...Having delt with Adorama in the past, I was again pleased by their "on top" shipping, and notification of the UPS tracking...

Solidly built and a solid performer. The results you get are somewhere between gratifying and stunning, and the MFT system with all its lenses and accessories is a big plus. The menus take some getting used to, but they're pretty logical. I downloaded the full advanced manual and put it on my iPad so I can study it conveniently. I'm very pleased with this DMC-GX7, so who not five stars? They left out the mic input, and I want to make some videos.

If I could give 4.5 I would but I'll rate this 5 as in my opinion this is a bit closer to 5 than 4. First the cons: a bit large, coming from the GF3 felt this difference, one is pocketable, the GX7 only for larger pockets, considering the idea of M4/3 this should be a target everytime. This camera eventually locks on me or take much longer than average time to perform usual operations like reviewing images. Not sure if is something specific about my camera or the GX7 in general, need to do some research... Due to the customization allowed for this camera (a positive for me) is hard to become familiarized with it. Just a matter of practice I know but coming from other friendlier cameras this can be relevant for some. Another one I can think of is the lack of 2nd curtain slow sync in the built-in flash, only slow sync. For those like me who uses the built-in as fill a lot this can be relevant. Last but not least I don't agree with manufacturer decision of intentionally crippling their cameras so it doesn't compete with higher-end models. The GX7 could offer more but it doesn't. I won't get into the details as there are plenty online out there - search for the hacks available for many Lumix models. But the pros are so many! It's my first Wi-fi enabled camera and the main reason I got the GX7, after you get the hang of it it's pretty easy to setup. I prefer using the Wi-fi direct conection as if I'm already connected to a Wi-fi network I won't loose this connection and keep online sharing whatever I want. NFC triggers the usual Wi-fi connection so I keep it deactivated but can be useful for some. Image quality is a step up from older generations like the GF3. I was already happy! The tiltable viewfinder is great contributing better than other cameras to the small form, eletronic shutter even greater, focus peaking allows for easy manual focus shots... The other main reason why I chose this model was the built-in image stabilization. Great! Online reviewers say it's not that great compared with Olympus 5-axis but this one satisfy me. Great purchase, extremely satisfied with it. Recommended!

I love this camera. I was using the Olympus OMD and just could never get totally comfortable with the menu and the ergonomics. The GX7 is much more "user friendly" and has excellent IQ. A truly wonderful fun camera. It makes me look for every excuse to take pictures. I have been dealing with Adorama for many years, and as always the order was handled very nicely. I really would like to thank Al Lefko for making it such a pleasure to call Adorama.

The GX7 is an amazing camera. from its size to quality of lens, to the shear abilities of the camera itself . It is clearly not ment for novices in photography , if your looking for a point and shoot you really are barking up the wrong tree. This camera is at home in the hands of a Photo Pro as it is the avid Photo traveler. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars was i felt there were some things that Panasonic did not think through , i totally believe they will remedy those in the future. Non of which would impact the average user.

This camera focused quickly and easily. Takes great photos. Low light was super fast and without all the fuss of repetitive effort at getting a focus. Rarely need flash. It holds steady even dark nights photographing lights, hand held with little or no blur. I am quite amazed at how fast, slick, and quick this little camera is. It takes my Olympus lenses without a hitch. My only gripe is the buttons on the back. Sometimes I have to hold the camera one handed and the grip is fine but the palm of my hand inadvertently rests on the buttons and selects them messing up my shot since it will sometimes stop the shot for menu choices, etc. Very frustrating. Other than that, so far, so good and I'd rather have this little great camera than any other I've seen.

A fabulous little device! I had read various reviews of this product before buying it and I found none of the negative comments to be valid. The tiltable viewfinder is perfect for macro shots of insects. The controls are well thought out, conveniently located, and often customizable. It would have been nice if the LCD screen had a greater range of positions, but for my purposes that's not an issue. I almost always use the EVF which is bright and clear. That it can be tilted is a stroke of genius! Image quality is excellent. It captures RAW + jpegs very quickly. It feels nice and solid and is easy to hold. All around, I'd give it the highest rating I could.

I travel a lot and having a light but professional camera is essential. Because of its size it is unobtrusive when photographing or shooting video in places where theft or other issues may arise. It does not look like an expensive camera but the photographs and videos are, in my estimation, equal to the "high end" DSLRs. The stabilization in the camera and lenses are great for capturing spontaneous events. I have yet to find any problems or issues with the functioning of the camera. I would encourage any level of photographer or videographer to purchase this camera.

This camera has decent bokeh. The attached pic is a flower taken with the stock lens. I also have the 25/1.4 Summilux lens and it is, obviously, even better. So don't be too worried if you hear that M4/3 cameras don't have bokeh. Maybe not as good as a monster DSLR, but good enough for most folks. I've had a few pics come in with poor exposure when using auto mode. However, most pics I shoot are in manual mode, and I have not been disappointed in the image quality of those pics. This is a great camera if you like shooting in manual mode. With a pancake lens, it will easily fit in a jacket pocket.

I've had this camera for about a month now. So far I haven't had any problems with it. The focus assist threw me off, until I read the manual. I prefer not to use it. I use multiple lenses on this camera (Leica-R, Nikon, Contax and Panasonic. There have been times that the images seem better than my GH3 camera's images. I use the GX7 as a second camera to my Panasonic GH3. It's almost like using the rangefinder Leicas. I really enjoy using this camera. I am a retired cameraman and this camera is much better than lugging around the big movie cameras. The most important thing is the excellent quality of the images.

The HDR function is nice, and the manual focus peaking comes in handy. However, the lens issues have been a serious problem. The diaphragm is not circular, but is an egg / trapezoid shape. Getting anything useful out of the Panasonic service department has been impossible. Panasonic needs to get a real service department and a quality control department. I could not recommend this camera to anyone else. I am extremely disappointed.

I upgraded to the GX7 from a Lumix DMC-G2 because of (1) improved sensor with less high ISO noise and more resolution, (2) low profile rangefinder form with EVF, (3) focus peaking, and (4) in body image stabilization. All of these represent substantial technical improvements over the G2, and the camera maintains the excellent handling and ergonomics that I enjoyed with the G2. I shoot a wide variety of subjects including portraits, macros, sports, landscapes and abstracts. I have used the GX7 for a week, and find that it exceeds my expectations, with great raw and jpg output, fast and accurate auto-focusing with all my native m43 Panasonic and Olympus lenses, and easy manual focusing with adapted legacy glass. The only I thing I miss from the G2 is the articulating LVF, but the tilting EVF and LVF more than make up for this. Its also a great looking camera and fun to use!

I've had this camera for 24 hours now and have been using it non-stop. Let me start off by saying that this doesn't replace my GH3. The GH3 still has a few big advantages: much better batter life, more flexible LCD display, better video compression, and a much more solid and tough body. Having said that, this is a fantastic little camera. The new sensor does give me better stills, although I mainly use this for video. And the low light performance for both video and pictures is a bit of an improvement over the GH3. The LCD displace is much sharper and the focus peaking is great which is something I was really hoping they would add to the GH3. Overall, the images and video that come off this very compact camera are fantastic and I'm even impressed with the stock lens. The focusing is quite fast too.
