ALAN E : Can you swap a battery while recording?
Shopper : Will this grip also work on a G5 camera?RICHARD S : No it will not work. The batteries the G5 uses are very different than what the grip uses, so the G5 battery will not fit in the grip. Also there are no connections on the bottom of the G5 camera for the Battery Gril to connect too. It's a great grip, I use it all the time and the extra battery has seved me on a few occasions. You could get a GH3, which would be more than twice the price of your camera or just buy an extra battery or two for your G5. I have two G1 cameras, one color the other converted to IR which I just carry extra batteries for. Not as that much of a hassel to change them. Just not as handy as having the grip. Hope this helpsMARLON MCNEILL S : Never owned the DMW-BGGH3 gripBRADLEY S : I don't have a G5, but I doubt it. The cameras are different sizes, I can't find an auxiliary grip option for the G5, and many of the controls for the GH3 are duplicated on the grip. Does your G5 have a multi pin port underneath? If so and it will fit, it might work, but it could damage your camera.FRED C : No, it only mates to the GH3.

Battery Grip for GH3

I've had this battery grip for a while now (for my DMC-GH3). With this, I can go all day without having to put in another battery. I mainly shoot video, but also photos. Works great in both cases. I do have one complaint. The little rubber cover for the 18 pin connector comes off the camera very easily and even when it's in the storage compartment on the BGGH3, it can fall out without knowing. I lost mine because of that. Otherwise, it's nice to have the extra battery time and the additional controls when turning the camera sideways. I would highly recommend anyone with a DMC-GH3 to get this.

This is a fine product and works very well for still photography. The tripod mount is off center and it can't be used when setting up a video rig.

Don't buy for video follow focus

I purchased the BG for the extra battery life during our production day. Great idea, bad execution. 1: 1/4-20 screw is off centered. 2: We cannot center the lens into the matt box. 3: The BG does not attach firmly enough to the camera body. 4: When we spin the follow focus wheel, the camera body moves up and away from the BG. This effect is seem in every shot we used the follow focus. 5: Problem solved. We got rid of the BG.

Nice fit

I have used the grip only once. It really made a big difference for me. I have longer fingers and it made holding the camera really comfortable. I'm use to shooting a heavy camera. Even though the GH3 isn't that heavy to me, this grip made things balance out quite well.

Perfection addition to the GH3

A must-have for the GH3 owner. But dig deep into your wallet, because battery-not-included. (Okay, I admit I planned to purchase a 2nd battery, anyway.) The added bulk does not bother me whatsoever, since the weight gain is negligible. Panasonic should consider building this accessory into their other models. Would've loved this on my G2 and GF2.

love it

Love the GH3 and this just makes it better. The 2 batty combo had not drained a a shoot yet, barely got into the body battery. Adds nice feel to the cam.
