I bought this flash because when taking pictures of my son indoors the pictures would come out blurry from his movement with my GH1 using the 14-140 kit lense. Taking pictures with the built in flash resulted in slow focus and the result many times was washed out because of being too close to the subject. When using DMW-FL360 flash the camera seems to focus much quicker and changing the intestity as well as being able to bounce the flash off the ceiling allows me to get closer with better results. The only down side I would say is the reacharge time and how quick the batteries are drained. However I am using alkaline batteries and I'm told if I use NiMH batteries those problems would be reduced.

Much more powerful than the inbuilt flash. Adjusts itself automatically with the lens settings as well as when used as a bounce flash. The built-in wide angle attachment actually works. The digital screen is useful and shows all the flash's settings. Slow initial charge up, but OK after that.

We have used this flash for Wedding Photography, and find it to be inconsistent, sometimes it will not flash at all in low light.

Mounting the Panasonic DMW-FL360 TTL external flash unit onto the camera's hotshoe gives you precise TTL light control of the high-powered flash, and lets youuse the versatile functions of the flash.
Linked with the camera's light-metering functions, the DMW-FL360 uses a TTL light adjustment system to measure the light that actually strikes the Live MOS sensor, then adjusts the flash intensity accordingly. The result is flash photoswith outstanding exposure.
The FL360 has a guide number of 36 (ISO 100/m). The angle zoom function covers a lens range of 24-85mm (35mm camera equivalent). Using the built-in wide panel further extends coverage to a view angle of 18mm. The firing angle can also be automatically changed to create a bounce lighting effect.
